MoreCaps is a very useful tool by Leftup that allows you to change the capabilities of any EXE or DLL in the c:\sys\bin directory. It allows you to view the existing capabilities of the file before changing them. This means that you don't have to wait no more for a allfiles version of your favorite file browser or any other app. Just install the normal version and change the caps :D

Features:
- Select/de-select multiple caps at once.
- Caps can be selected using the usual pen key or '0'
- The hash of the changed file gets updated automaticaly
- You can also manually update the hash using 'Adjust Hash'.

Here is an example on how to assign the Allfiles cap to X-plore:

Select Open File and type the filename without path:

Now you can view the existing capabilities:

Select the AllFiles capability and from options select Save:

Now exit from MoreCaps & restart your phone ;) After restart X-plore will run with AllFiles capability that means you can view the system folders without disabling caps(CapsOff). Please note that you will not have write access though.

Note: If the app you are modding is located in E: then after saving the permissions, manually update the hash using 'Adjust Hash' option.

Do not assign TCB and DRM to any program (unless you know what you are doing) otherwise the program will stop working.

When i removed the All files capability from the .exe again with this program and restarted, then X-plore runned again. I guess this is not working on symbian 9.1?

Yes, we can install this "X-plore v1.22 by Disabled" and after that also modified "Active File Manager" with all files capability, "FEXplore" modified, blah, blah, ... etc., etc., ... but, where is than a spice of work with OS capable device?!?

P.S. also, when i need i can reverse proces and back all to previous state. That is not possible with "modified" version "by Disabled" or any other ...this version must be uninstalled, blah, blah, ... get it?!?

Yes..working fine on my N95 8G...pls make sure x-plore install in C drive not E...

Then the answer is NO. The caps you grant to an exe/dll are stored inside it and are permanent :)

I´ve also tried with ActiveFile 1.25 that i installed several weeks ago. It is 'with allfiles without screenshot' version (sys and private folders are not displayed) and after assigning allfiles capabilities with morecaps and restarting the phone, i don´t see any difference. Has someone tried with ActiveFile? Maybe it works with 1.27 version.

The tutorial I have put up on first page is just an example of what it can be used for and you won't get write access that is also mentioned. Then what's the point in repeating it again? MoreCaps is a tool for those who understand well what capabilities are & how they are used :)

Well i installed again and i tried to change the capabilities but again nothing.I signed it with MobileSigner with a root certificate.By the way my firmware version is 4.60.

For those who are having problems on changing the capabilities of different apps and are getting error(cannot execute file due to security reason)
First open any exe or dll file whose capability you are going to change. For example you are going to change x-plore.exe now after opening x-plore.exe in options click on mark all now after marking all the capabilities click on adjust hash now click on save the app will close now go to x-plore it is 80% chance that it will give the error (cannot execute file due to security reasons). Now again open more caps and open x-plore.exe and again click on adjust hash now click on save. This timd when you will open xplore you will see its working.

Hi, maybe it´s a stupid question... cause i´m afraid the answer is no, but is it possible to change capabilities to Java apps (for example auto-start without asking for permission to do it) with morecaps?. I have "Days2Go" java app and as it´s not signed by any certificate i only have 2 options in suite settings for autostart (not allow and ask only 1st time). So, everytime the program must be automatically launched for activating its alarm, an annoying security message appears requesting my permission.
Java apps are .exe or .dll files?? or only .class??

More caps require all files access which is only provided by the fca00000,s cert or opda cert so sign it with those certs to be able to install it. And don,t forget the copy the 0000001.dat file to c:\resource\swicertstore\dat\

If you have done this procedure already and more caps application is not installing then recopy the 0000001.dat file and change its attributes to read only it will surely work.

Mate use opda or fca00000 certificates it will only install if signed with their certs so refer to some of the sticky threads to get the whole procedure to use the fca00000,s cert.
