Just put the attached txt file into c:/private/10202be9/

then restart your phone

you can see in screenshot my n95-1 is not recognized by myNokia site (i was trying to download nokia sensor)

I've modified the txt file because in some site it's doesn't work
to access to google you need to go to google.com/xhtml

to test if it's work you can go to iphonenetworktest.com it will test if your phone is an iphone or not and the speed of you connection

Btw. it's dependant on firmware version or not, because this file has:
0xB string "NokiaN95/21.0.016;"
?

Someone seems to have reported non-working. So if it is working, you only need to delete the file and possibly restart it and it's original.

what is in red is user agent viewed by site you navigate on
you can write what you want

even if you want to surf in imode you just have to change those data for an imode phone user agent

when a site read user agent no way for string 0x0 or other
if you write all the user agent in 0x0 string and blank the other the result will be the same (i think)

but i don't know if the name : 101F8731.txt (for n92-1 last firmware) is the same for other phone model

Cheers ToJa92 I have tried this file and Google.com loads up blank.

My phone is a N95-1 with fw 21.0.016 like DavdeMars.

I've since deleted the file and google now works properly. --update: see my post below.

To update everyone, what I said about simply deleting the file is not true. In order to get the user agent back you'll have to modify the file with the appropriate string in place of the apple string, reload and restart e.g.

Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95/21.0.016; Profile MDIP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413

Thanks for this tutorial. A tip: if you want download apps from for example an operator´s portal which is "only for N95" it can be a good idea to change the user agent to an N95 (if your phone for example is an E90 etc) to be able to download that app.

I will try to change my user agent to that of Safari on an Macintosh because I think it will work better on the E90.

how would i get the string for other user agents. I have n95-3 but i am using it in the uk and my vodafone operator cant recognise it so gives me the old fashioned wap pages. i would like to change my user agent to read as n95-1 so that it will be recognised.

The most ideal would be having a patch that late you switch user agents as you wish so before you start your browser we'll have the ability to choose what mode we want to use.

Works great! Thanks for sharing this. I am surprised you don't need c2z to get this to work?!

wrong because if you just delete or deplace the new file we have created in c: the phone while restarting read the z: file witch is the original one and not modified

here a site with a lot of user agent like iphone HTC or other

I thanks for this tip. I decided to use the user agent from Safari on a Macintosh instead because it fits the E90 better. The user agent string for that browser is:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/525.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Safari/525.18

But there´s a problem: the platform still shows up as "S60". It would be nice if there is a file who can be edited so that information changes to "Mac OS X" for example. Some sites reads the platform string and that causes problems sometimes.
