This trick will work only on FP1 phones that support animated icons

All credits to Z-Mario for this trick.

You need:
- X-plore or any file manager
- something to edit text (DEdit)
- a phone that can have animated icons in the menu

After playing with the appshelldata.xml file I saw a couple strings that got my attention, they were reffering to a .m3g file, which is the file format for the s40 animated icons and stuff, so I looked for anything with a .m3g extension in the ROM drive, guess what, I found 75 files and after playing a little more with the file I discovered this:

This shows the string for an folder without an animated icon

As you can see the difference is that the app/folder with an animated icon has this extra string (m3g_icon_file="icon file name")witjout the parenthesis (or whatever they are). Ok, now you know what to add, but, where are the m3g files? They're in Z:\resource\m3gicons, jsut change the "icon file name" part for the name of the icon (with this things "", lol I forgot their name).

The folder icons are quite easy to mod because they actually have their names however the apps only have their UIDs so an easy way to find an app is to see which position does it have in the folder, then in the appshelldata.xml file the app should have the exact same position. The icon string should be at the end of the string for the file.

So here's the instructions again:

1.- Open the c:\private\101f4cd2\content\appshelldata.xml file with a text editor.
2.- Locate the icon you want to try in Z:\resource\m3gicons, copy the name. You can also use the icons attached to this post. Put them in X:\\resource\m3gicons
3.- Add the string m3g_icon_file="icon file name" at the end of the app/folder icon specific string (look at the app images), if the icon's name is folder.m3g the string should be m3g_icon_file="folder.m3g".
4.- Save the file, in the menu press options and select exit.
5.- Enter the menu again and you should have the new icon.

Yeah, I know that I was just wondering if there were some other way to make this, of course without animated icons (Only FP1 phones have this, right?).

Ok, I made it... But the icon, in this case xplore, is animated but with an folder icon and not with xplore icon?! Any ideas?

Thanks :) Mate it depends on which icon you used to replace it. It won't animate the original x-plore icon but will show the new icon you put in.

i've found M3G ToolKit v4.1 includes M3G Converter and M3G Viewer.. also found H3T Exporter for 3D Max.. files made by this plugin can be converted to M3G using M3G Converter..

I don't have 3D Max so i didn't test plugin and converter..

Can somebody out there provide me the m3gicons from the E-serie (E51)???

I have created over 30 folders (folder in folder) that are working on a animated icon based...

Still need the ? folder, GPS , red box, green man, internet globe.
All of them only work with m3g icon.....

So, I have the E-series m3g icons (check out rar and try it out 4 URself)....
Some nice new ones in there....

I now have 12 folder icons moving again....

Still missing the animated foldericon from the: internetglobe, green man and the GPS.

So, Who has got these on their cell and if it moves.....
