View Full Version : New Maps Released Today..!!! V8.05/V7.20
sco0ter 14th May 2008, 21:32 >The text to speak is feature is natively supported by units which are already >capable and no additional files are required.
Hi there,
There's only one problem, I've installed the UK and IE 720 maps with a one XL with the TTS files installed. Unfortunately, it reads out the wrong street names. It reads out a street name at a similar part of the alphabet (it still begins with the right letter) but not the correct name for the road. When looking at the map on-screen, it shows the correct names on-screen, but the TTS reads out the wrong name.
The TTS worked 100% fine with 715 maps though.
Any idea why? Is there a file which contains a list of street names? I had a look through the CSPEECH files and the loquendo files with a text editor but couldn't see anything appropriate...
Thats because the 720 map here is not TTS compatible. It does not contain the needed information to make it work 100%

I put the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland v720.1802 map on my TT910 (NavCore v7) and the text-to-speech worked perfectly :D
The CSPEECH files are only required for voice recognition.
Perhaps your map or associated files are corrupt

Anybody know would the map still work if all the CSPEECH files are deleted from map folder? I'm asking since there is still no smaller (861.5MB 7.20 map) available, only bigger 1.83GB one (Western and Central Europe this time).
Alex20047 15th May 2008, 00:01 Anybody know would the map still work if all the CSPEECH files are deleted from map folder?
For Navcore 7 the answer is YES.
eurovirus 15th May 2008, 03:39 Hey guys,
it would really be great if you could help me, I just don't manage to activate the new v8 maps...
I'm running a OneXL with a 2 GB SD card on which I loaded the following files:
1. Files one (base kit), three (TTsystem for non-x10) and eight (ASR) of the v8 software by TTUser
2. The Western and Central Europe 2 GB 800 1766 map
With the Easyusetools by TTUser, I managed to activate the map ("success"), but the script won't patch my TTSystem-file - I get the following error message: "Can't find! already patched or old version, this works only with V7 Navcore or higher".
When I start my TT anyway, it displays the screen with my address and freezes. When I emulate it with the TT-Home-software, the screen prompts "The activation key is not valid", although the map itself is recognized.
That means I still have to patch the TTSystem-file, right? Can you tell me how to do so? Do I have to use another TTsystem-file or just another script?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Alex, Germany.
yDdraigGoch 15th May 2008, 10:02 Thanks to ajsbonneville pointing out that the v720.1838 Australia map has TTS functioning, I went and checked my loquendo files and found a glitch. Loaded a known TTS map and got it working again.
Knowing I had a good Loquendo voice (KateGb) running again, I loaded all the v720 maps and TTS works on ALL of them including Eastern Europe.
OK, I'll admit the voice support for good pronounciation isn't there ( maybe try German for EastBlok.... ) but it appears that TTS is supported in all new maps, which makes sense really.
Tested all with KateGB (version6 voice ) running navcore v8.002 on Go710

Annyhoo, thought I'd share that snippet.
PS.. before anyone questions me on it, NO, I don't mean ASR. I mean TTS, where it reads the street names as well as giving turn instructions ( after 300 metres, turn left, Market Place, then turn right ). Thanx B.

I have tried the UK 720 map with navcore 7 and 8 . I can get western and central europe 720 to work with TTS but not UK. I have downloaded the UK map that haas been posted on here but unless there are 2 versions then TTS does not work correctly ( it says wrong street name). This is with working computer voices and I have tried different versions (6 and 7)

Make sure your cphoneme.dat file is the correct one. Try deleting this file and see if the street names are correct.

Well Said, That Man!!!!!
I've been copping flak for saying all new maps are TTS enabled.
Well, they are.
& here is why.
If I understand TTuser correctly, maps do not come with TTS or without TTS.
TTS is a facility that can be added ( via a working LoquendoTTS voice ) providing the navcore supports it.
Take a look at the Change Voice menu. Later navcores supporting TTS ( 7.221, 7.480, 8.002 ) ask you what your TTS or Computer Voice should read out, such as street names, foreign names, messages, etc.. ).
This is a navcore feature NOT the maps.
People are still confusing ASR & cspeech files with TTS.
ASR folder is the heart of speech recognition.
cspeech files are matrix or mapping files for vocal input and permit ASR function. Remove them and Spoken Address input is greyed out - non functional..
LoquendoTTS is the heart of Text To Speech, or screen text vocalisation .
If you have a working Loquendo voice & the right navcore, you can make your device read out street names, road numbers, warnings, etc..
I have tried all v720 maps, running navcore 8.002 on a Go710.
No ASR folder.
No cspeech files.
KateGb v6 Loquendo voice
I admit the European street names were spoken rather badly but...spoken they were.
Eastern Europe map navigating from Zagreb to Mace
"Starting Demo" then "after 600 yards, turn left" then at 150 yards "turn left, 29 Prepustovecka"
TTS works.....
If you do not have TTS, check your navcore and your LoquendoTTS folder.
If you do not have Speech Recognition input, check ASR folder and cspeech files.
Hope that is clear enough. Oi Vey!

Apols if you read it again elsewhere.
I am aware that some members are listing maps as NoTTs & TTS versions.
These maps are TTS capable.
They are actually ASR and NoASR versions, due to omition or provision of working cspeech_xxx files in the map folder.
TTS = device dictates to you, tells you stuff, LoqundoTTS required.
ASR = you dictate to device, you tell it stuff, ASR & cspeech_xxx required.
Can we maybe try and adopt this standard, as it is correct.
Tell someone it's a TTS map, they'll install Loquendo...
Or am I too logical for this forum?

In case you have not noticed, for many here, English is not their native language. If you intend to correct spelling and grammar, you have quite a job on your hands! I'm sure many would rather see you upload yet unpublished maps instead. Your contribution would be much more appreciated that way...

Hi yDdraigGoch,
sometimes it feels like your hitting your head against a brick wall!
I’ve tried to explain the same thing and still people go on about TTS and non-TTS maps.
As yDdraigGoch has said several times:
ALL THE MAPS WILL WORK WITH TEXT-TO-SPEECH IF YOUR TOMTOM HAS THE TEST-TO-SPEECH FEATURE.
NO ADDITIONAL FILES ARE REQUIRED.
THE CSPEECH FILES ARE ONLY REQUIRED FOR VOICE RECOGNITION.
IF YOUR TOMTOM HAS VOICE RECOGNITION THEN YOU WILL NEED THE CSPEECH FILES.
IF NOT (OR YOU NEED TO SAVE SPACE) YOU CAN SAFELY DELETE THESE FILES.

c4eTha4e 16th May 2008, 12:26 Thanks dariusz1 for the Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB 805 map. :)
Is this the only version of the 805 maps for WaCE available from TomTom? I'm just wondering because the new 805 maps is 1.66GB compared to ~1.79GB for the larger 800 map.
Does this mean that it is less detailed?
bruxelles5 16th May 2008, 14:43 hey guys what is the difference between this 2 Maps :

Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB v805.1801 its latest map.Difference its in better road coverage.
lessram 16th May 2008, 14:47 8.05 is the most up to date (from Q1-2008) released last week.
To my knowledge this 2GB version is not missing streets, but is missing some details like lakes, woods etc...
But indeed the 8.05 full version would be the best choice.... but not downloadable here. (Yet)
c4eTha4e 16th May 2008, 14:48 That's good to know. As long as all the roads are on it then I'm happy.

Have one made using the RunMeforDCT.cmd from Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher.rar by TTuser (BTW: thank you TTuser!) - it is going to be patched for your system already...

vusagee 16th May 2008, 18:46 The above version UK&IE v720 has no TTS voices.
Your standard TT voices will work just fine.
TTS voices read extra info ( street names, etc) plus messages & stuff.
Standard voices just read navigation instructions, (turn left, right, etc.. )
meta.text goes in keygen directory, so tt7_keygen.exe can read it when creating .dct file to enable/activate map for your device.
read HowTo here ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
I finally got Go520 UK&IE updated to v720.

Hey yDdraigGoch
I've followed all the steps in the tutorial but I can't find the "ttsystem" in step 8 of the tutorial. How do I get that? I simply just transferred the folder "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v720.1802" which has all the files onto the root menu of my memory card but when i started up TomTom (v6.02 for s60 3rd ed) it just said no maps installed. Help please

v6.02 for S60 3rd ed is Symbian s/w for SmartPhone.
This is TomTom Navigator.
v6 is also an indicator of the problem.
As far as I know, you can use v675 UK&IE (latest v6) but not v7 or v8 maps.
Unless there has been a breakthrough I am not aware of.
I installed Navigator on an N73 and then got a Go710 so stopped following this system.
TomTom have supposedly hinted at a v7 Navigator release & I for 1 would like it but it'll never happen.
My advice, replace backup or reinstall v6.02 then update map to v675.
Anyone else knows of a Symbian hack to update SmartPhone/PDA to v7 or v8 NavCore, please feel free to step in....

Can someone please highlight the difference between North_America_715_1712 and the latest addition to this thread USA_and_Canada_720_1802 (named North_America_720).
The U&C_720 map is indeed the newest but why is every single file in it smaller than its counterpart in NA_715 (i.e. cline.dat, cname.dat, cnode.dat etc...) also is it normal that all the cspeech_*.dat files are missing.
Does NA_720 (not U&C_720) exist?? (too many questions )

Here is a simple breakdown
NA map 1.6mb-1.9mb depending on which device 720/730 -920/930
USA & Cananda 800mb for tomtom one etc.
In general NA map is always better than USA and Cananda map (more detail and larger poi file ). So given a choice between newer 720 US and Canada, and older 715 NA, I would stick with the 715 NA till the bigger version 720 NA comes out.
Hope it makes sense.

Shorty69664 21st May 2008, 20:24 Hi all,
I have (probably) a very stupid question but I'm a complete noob and struggling.
I have follwed the following tut for copying the new UK and Ire maps to my SD card.
"Create new folder on C drive - name it Keygen.
Add the two files - Meta.txt, tt7_keygen.exe and your v8 map folder, in this example I'll use
the Western_Europe map
c:\Keygen\Meta.txt (file)
c:\Keygen\tt7_keygen.exe (file)
c:\Keygen\Western_Europe (folder)
Start your Command Prompt :-
Start -> run -> cmd -> OK
Type in :-
cd C:\KeyGen click ”Enter”
Type in :-
tt7_keygen.exe Western_Europe ABCDE12345(Replace this with YOUR DeviceID and leave no spaces, use CAPS)
Press ENTER
You should then see OK - if not then you have got something wrong.
Unzip the file named 'Patch' to a folder on your PC
Copy your file named 'ttsystem' from your Tomtom Memory Card in this folder with all the Patch files.
Run the 'RunMe.bat' (Double click on it), wait, you have now a ttsystem and a ttsystem.old, copy the file named
'ttsystem' back to your Memory Card. Put memory card back into your Tomtom, it will take a few minutes to boot up,
then you should now be able to see the new V8 map".
Anyway all went well but don't see the new V8 map.
Would i not have to copy the new map also onto the SD card?
Is this the map that i had copied into the C:keygen folder and ran the above tut?
Should I copy the full C:keygen file onto the SD card?
Just seem to be loosing it in the last part and it's probably something simple...
As i said, I'm a complete noob and any help appreciated.....

almanbrother 21st May 2008, 22:58 Hello,
I have restored my 910 to navcore 6.5. After update via tthome my offficial navcore is 7.1.61.
I'v installed the 720 WCE map and run the RunForMeAllAutomatic tool.
This tool created a dct-file for the map. But now the map is not visible in my device and alsoo not recognized in tthome.
What else do I have to do to make the map visible??
I've read a lot here but I can't find the answer.
Anybody does?
Please let me know what I have to do exactly.
Thanks
bilybob 21st May 2008, 23:07 Did you patch ttsystem file:suicide:?
yDdraigGoch 21st May 2008, 23:08 Shorty69664 - You did alright but for a couple of things.
the western_europe folder you made can be called anything you like, UK, w_e, bob, henry, etc.. The name is purely for tt7_keygen to be able to find it.
you really only need to copy the united_kingdom_and_republic_of_ireland-14.meta file to the 'any_name' folder you created ( unless you want TomTom Safety cameras, but we get ahead of ourselves ).
The map folder can be put straight on SD card
run tt7_keygen as before and it creates a new file, united_kingdom_and_republic_of_ireland-14.meta.dct, in your 'any_name' folder
copy this .dct file to your SD card map folder ( this is your 'activation' key, if you like )
you should now see map
Any probs, feel free to PM

Use RunME4DCT for the following 3 procedures
option 4 - creates .dct file - copy this to SD map folder
option 6 - patches ttsystem on SD/Device
option 7 - patches Home .dll
Do it this way so you can see which bit, if any, is not working.

jhamps10 22nd May 2008, 08:53 hi folks, total newbee here.. Just got a refurbished GO 510, and was updating it, I got the updated app, or NAVCORE as you guys call it.. but I'm having a lot of trouble with installing the new v720 map for US and Canada. I followed all the steps of the video tutorial by running the RunMeforAllAutomatic program and I had installed everything, but the map is not showing up. Luckily before I started downloading the updated map, I had backed up my tomtom but it has the factory version 665 map on it.. Also I tried to get from tomtom and their so called latest map deal. It should be more like Latest Map ripoff..... sorry I was on my soapbox there for a minute. So what could I have possibly done wrong with this. I'm back at square one, with square one being right before downloading the map. Any and all advice would be greatly apprieacted.
Shorty69664 22nd May 2008, 11:10 yDdraigGoch - Thanks very much for your reply!
I will try again tonight - Didn't get a chance last night with the match.
Hopefully I'll get it sorted.
Thanks again!!!!!!

Shorty69664 23rd May 2008, 02:15 Hi all,
Well I finally got the new V8 UK and Ireland maps set up on my Tomtom one.
It seems my problem was that I needed to have Navcore 8 on my tomtom.
It took a lot of reading to find that out but i'm almost there now.
Still having a little problem with the Tomtom not finding satellites (Seems to only find them when charging) but I will read some more tomorrow as I'm sure the answer is out there somewhere.
What a great site!!
Thanks to all that helped.

Hello. I don't understand, what you are trying to show me.
I see on that page many maps, but no Central and Eastern Europe v7.20 or v8.05.
Only Eastern europe, and Western Europe maps, that are unusable, because you can't navigate from one to another. There is also Western and Central Europe map, that is very big (2Gb).
The map Central and Eastern Europe is much faster, because it has only round 800Mb.

FJMelchior 24th May 2008, 14:21 Hi,
I need the Meta-Code for the Full (1,92GB) North America 8.05.1801 Map! I just have the Code for the 2GB-SD_Version.

:thanks:
dediknight2 24th May 2008, 14:32 Tanks for the new cards! Terrific work!
Unfortunately, I have a disturbing problem. I have a TomTom Go700. On this Navcore8 runs faultlessly with the card material 7.20. All functions run and there are no restrictions.
My TT suddenly gets very slow if I exchange the card material from version 7.20 in 8.05. Although in this one works a 400 MHz ARM CPU and 64 MB of RAM.
I make nothing else but to delete the old card folder and to copy the new one on the internal hard disk. Nothing else. With 8.05 maps the display only shows 1 - 0.5 FPS. Instead of the liquid card representation at the 7.20 cards. I have the ttystem pack(display to slow Sound problem). However, this didn't improve something.
The faster I drive the more slowly the map screen update becomes. The shown picture or the position is then already 5 to 8 seconds old, too. trangely enough the voice commands are always correct and punctual, however. As if enough computer power were also left for Loquendo as it seems. However, it does not make any difference whether I use Loquendo or a recorded voice.
Has anyone a solution for that? (sry about my horrible english)
BiggerDave 24th May 2008, 14:52 Drive more slowly!

You could just drop poi.dat, crpoi.dat and the /brand folder into your 2GB folder, overwriting the files there. That way you won't have to re-activate the "full" version again.

superduper 25th May 2008, 16:23 My theory:
Interesting how majority of maps made available here are lately are "NO ASR" maps :)
It would be very clever of TomTOM to "feed" us and other places like this with somewhat crippled maps (no ASR) and therefore reducing the chance for ASR enabled maps to become available. My point is: if NO ASR map is available here, then wast majority will be happy with what is available. better then nothing, sort of thing :)
otherwise everyone is keep looking and active.... now that some maps are available, tomtom will make money on ASR enabled maps that must be ordered. Very clever indeed :)

But the maps here are taken from peoples origianl DEVICE so therefore if TOMTOM are doing it deliberately then they are already ripping people off as someone has bought these maps and TOMTOM is not "Feeding" them.

1. Give more detail where you took Nav. 8 and how did you install it.
2. Confirm that you patched ttsystem and generate *.dct file for the map.

Gorthan 26th May 2008, 02:36 I need nederlands map's. Can you post it?
Thank's thanks:
dhlakama 26th May 2008, 04:18 I took Nav 8 from a link here in the forum which gave me instructions on unzipping it,pasting it to my 920 replacing files there then copying a ttsystem folder from nav 8 folder to my 920.The Nav 8 is working and shows version 8 on my tomtom but the features are not there plus the background is white???
I now have the australia map working after using the 2nd unlockDCT method .However my other maps except North America are not working but present in my maps folder:((
nacron 26th May 2008, 12:55 I have a 920 which i have upgraded the Nav to Nav8.I have 2 problems
1.I cannot see any of the new features on my tomtom eg lane guidance or IQ even though its working fine. Also the background is white instead of tomtom themes??
2. I added the new Australia 720 map.I can see it on map selections but when i click on it it says : Actiation failed .Sorry this is not the correct code for the product 'Australi'.
Can someone help a newbie please?:confused::confused:
Advanced lange guidance pics will only show up for certain freeways. It might show you on the blue section more than one lane, that's also part of the ALG. When you say white background, do you mean there's no "button" around the buttons? that's the way it is on the X30 devices. White with orange and some brown instead of blue and white.

Harry_C 28th May 2008, 06:41 Hi!
I have downloaded the latest North America v7.20 this week through TomTom home.
I can upload it, but I need 2 things before.
First, how can I delete my GPS info in the files, to be sure nobody recognize my GPS. Also, do I need to upload the North_America.zip files in my download folder of tomtom home only, or all the other files like .TOC and activation.cab
Second, in exchange I need the meta file for this map, I don't know how to get it and I need to install this latest map in my other GO.
Thanks
Hi
It is best to upload the whole mapfolder. The personal settings are
stored in MapSettings.cfg file in the map folder. You can delete this file
before uploading.
I am sure the Gurus will work on getting the .dct etc figured out. Without
it no one else will be able to use if anyhow.....
Looking forward to see your upload. Also, they have been suggestions to use other filesharing sites, other than Rapidshare. You may want o give that
a go too.

Well, there is a USA_CANADA-2GB map v720. but i did not see any NA_2GB map v720.
v720 maps are for older models that still use navcore v7.xx gox00, gox10
v800 maps are for newer models with original navcore v8.xx

There no such thing as "USA_CANADA-2GB map v720" as USA & Canada is the 850MB map for the 1GB ONE models. Maps for the GOx20 are called North_America and come in two different sizes for the 2GB 720 and 4GB 920. The latter having the larger POI & CRPOI.dat files. Version 7.20 maps for North_America have yet to be available here as far as I know. Version 8.05 of North_America is available but requires v8 NavCore. The latest v7 NA map available here is the older v7.15.

terryuk22 31st May 2008, 01:13 was comparing these maps 7+8 against the 675 maps very interesting...
the 675 map when inputting the postcode takes me to the named st and house number
the 8 map takes me to un named road in wrong area same postcode's
found this on 2 postcodes now
even whilst inputting the street names and town on 8 maps cant find it
moggyminor 31st May 2008, 20:23 I have downloaded all the relevant files from ttuser's excellent post.
Can anyone who has successfully installed Navcore 8 on this unit please advise the best way.
At present I have application 7.481 with original Western Europe map.
I intend getting a bigger capacity SD card to load 805 maps onto.
If I clear all the files off the unit can I just put the complete navcore 8 file on.
I assume I will then have to patch the ttsystem?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks moggyminor

Hi mate, what this meta file all about?? sorry I'm new to this things.
There are some excellent tutorials on this site. Look at the Tutorials thread. To crack a map for your device, you use TTUsers Easyuse tool, also on this site:[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Within the tool is a notepad file called "Meta" which contains the code needed to crack any particular map. Each map has its own code. Before attempting to crack a map, you must be sure that the code for that map is in the "Meta" file. If it is a new map, paste the code that is provided into the "Meta" file.

I used my original card back up and copied the contents of the NAVCORE RAR file to it - overwriting everything that was there. Then I copied the ttsystem file to the back up - overwriting the one there. The new map was already on there and it was already patched using ttusers easy tools to create the DCT file. Wrote everything to a different SD card (to preserve the original) and stuck it in. Bingo. Latest maps, Lane guidance, IQ routes - the lot!!! :good2:

insolvent786 19th June 2008, 04:04 Hiya- Thanks for the links mates. I just needed the standard uk map so downloaded that link. However i am now in a bit of problem.
I have a tomtom300. Last year i updated the map also, but paid a hefty sum. I obviously had to upgrade the memory card, which i did. So memory is not an issue.
The question is once iv downloaded the link and unrared it, how do i install the map in the tomtom.
Thanks again for your help

Got a tomtom 1 XL with navcore 8.
maps v720 West Europe work well, no problems.
tried installing V805 maps (WACE light). system boots, shows very bizarre map, when trying to enter an address it freezes and reboots; when trying to navigate to a citycenter it says "no route". any help appreciated, tried searching a lot but no luck

If you're running the official 8.010 it will not show/allow cracked maps.
You need the SE version.
sharkman007 21st June 2008, 20:13 Ah Ha ! Thanks Dave . Dont suppose you have a link to the Se version .
