WIMP - Where Is My Phone v. 1.3.0.0

In the event of your phone being lost or stolen, you can simply send a specially formatted SMS text message to the phone and the W.I.M.P software will silently intercept it. W.I.M.P. will then send back a message containing the phone's GPS location in a format which can be entered into any common mapping application.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

OK - so someone steals your phone. What is the first thing they're going to do? Change the SIM card right? The W.I.M.P. application will automatically detect a change in the SIM card and send you a text message containing the new number. You can then use that number to track the device's location or even ring the phone!

W.I.M.P. will always run covertly in the background, it will even automatically start when you reset the phone ensuring it is always protected.

Features
Runs silently and covertly in the background. It doesn't even show in the list of running programs.
Will send your phone's GPS coordinates via text message, allowing you to accurately track your phone's location using any common mapping application (e.g. [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))
If the SIM card is replaced on the phone, it will automatically send a text message informing you of the new number

I can't get the keygen to work either.

I am getting my IMEI from Settings -> System -> Device Information.

I then input the key from the keygen and get an "Invalid PIN" error.

Thanks for the upload anyway :)

Err... Wrong PIN? Are you sure you enter the code into the right box?
A quick how-to:
1. Open your phone app (press the green button) and enter *#06#
2. Enter your IMEI number into the keygen.
3. Open WIMP, enter 0000 as they first access key, you may change it later.
4. Open menu under the right softkey and choose to register, enter the key from keygen and voila...

bathrinath, thanks for the advice, but *#06# gives the same IMEI as the method I used - I still get an invalid pin error. I had already tried 0000 to get into the app itself as you suggested.

If it works for others, I'll assume it's just strangeness on my handset :)

Paranoid's Question: this technology seems very mature and handy. But if we can do on our own phone, will others use it against us? Like spying on our sms, emails, password, calls, location and stuff? It could already have been hidden covetly in one of the game we downloaded and installed! Then it lurks in our lovely device and always ready to sniff personal data out of us!!! The thought of it send chill thru my spine.
No I am not crazy!! No..NO!!:afraid:

:backtotopic:Well, the keygen doesnt work for me anyway. I follow exactly the instruction, and triple check my Imei nbr.

I noticed that in the main settings screen of W.I.M.P that the imei shown for my device had 2 extra digits on the end. I put this extended imei in the keygen and it all registered fine. Hope this helps

Strange, I can only see the IMSI in the app's settings, not the IMEI. The IMSI code doesn't work for me - I wouldn't expect it to as the IMSI is tied to the SIM card and can be easily replaced, which sort of defeats the whole point of WIMP

Hmm! I just managed to get WIMP to accept the key made from the IMEI. I pasted the same key in 4 or 5 times then suddenly it was accepted :good2:

Perhaps I should phrase it properly:

There are many who knows that the 1st thing to do if you pick up a fone and intend to keep it, is to hard-reset it.

If the 'thief' hard-resets the PDA first, then insert the SIM card, then the program would have been uninstalled. In that case, it cannot perform its function of sending sms to the designated fone no I set. Or does it still reside within the fone and ignore hard-resets?

My humble apologies if I had sounded like challenging the functionality of the prog, becos I've tested it and it works wonderfully (although a lil' slow to send out the sms.)

I suppose that your average " THIEF" does'nt know how to hard-reset this PDA.

Working so far on my ATT Tilt / HTC Kaiser.

Guys, use the method Bath stated for finding your IME number. The one shown inside the WIMP program is your SIM card number. Use the default PIN (0000) when you first open the program. Then plug your IME into the keygen.

Those that tried and didn't get a text, make sure you use the international format for the phone number (+1XXXXX...)

Thanks again Bath. :ilove:

Try to change the GPS Timeout number to the highest number allowed and see if that works. I think the highest you can go is 9.

10th November 2008, 13:37
So how do we WIMP. Very simple really. By default, after installation, the PIN code for WIMP is
0000. Send a text message to your phone with the message “$WIMP0000” (without quotes).
Depending on how WIMP is configured, it can take between 1 and 10 minutes for WIMP to respond.
If you change your PIN code for example to 1234, then the message to send would be $WIMP1234.

Worked fine first time on my mate's HTC Diamond, but the Omnia doesn't ever wanna seem to access its GPS for ANY program without messing around with port splitting!

Anyone got any ideas or managed to get it to work on an Omnia?
