Just cheking the rar file and there is a pdf with the nfo and its written "Mcguider". Also there is written about the Microsd card.
Package is different from the others beta.
Have you noticed differents from the latest beta?
Also the maps are the same version of the beta?

Since I just tried it out on my N95 8GB I can say that this version starts up faster and map rendering is fast and smooth at the same time,the icon of the app is different too,all in all you get a faster result in navigation and startup.

please wich maps are into the dvd? and are the same of the beta?

Edit: yes i confirm too. Its the retail version! when you install you see that build number is 7.52(409) and after in the about option there is written 7.50408 build 0/630D, also the icon has changed as already written...Also it find the license file (made by that russian site)so no problem at all

Actually I saw that the improvements are in graphics, image rendering and the quickness of the program, still no house numbers support, or any effective improvement yet.
All is left is to hope for a better version next time.

already tried this, you can mark right and left handed as well, it addes option for left handed guys.
the traffic option is still unknown...

Unfortunately still does not support full UK postal codes. Try to input TW2 1JN (an example) . Sysic get the first 4 digits (TW2 1) and get stock. I can’t even scroll down to choose correct one. Any clues ?

WRONG! Unpack .zip, Copy all ( U can delete extra stauff like WM files, Tablet files, extra language,......)folders to memorycard ROOT directory. Run SetupSymbianS60.sis , install, after that U can delete this file. Done ! Enjoy!!

the problem i have is related to the new gb map uploaded here..... just copied gbr folder to memorycard root is that right?.... it shows up breat britain in prog but when opening map comes up with unexpected error message.

It surely works with 7.5* non-pak maps.
Instead of the "kern-exec" error I got an "unexpected error", but it's definitely a map bug as it happens in exactly the same location where I got "kern-exec" before (with beta version) 10 times out of 10 times I was passing in the area.

I like the app as it is. Maybe it needs some tweaking, I shall try to change the fonts and colours with a tool posted in a different Sygic thread.

Wrong. Copy gbr folder in the Maps folder of your memorycard. You also need license.txt and *.mlm file in that (Maps) folder.

Full means with maps. It was stated that this is the kit from the McGuider microSD.

Waynebk - we might waste a lot of time downloading. From the first part I can already see that Eastern Europe seems to be again a mockery (I see that Bulgaria is some 700k). Could you tell me the map size for Romania (Rou folder).

I have copied all files to my memory card (Nokia n95 8GB), overidding every file, installed the .sis file in the root directory, and for some reason in about its says its version 7.50319 not 7.52 (409). Should I just ignored this?
It may possibly be something to do with previous version I had installed, however I uninstalled it that first prior to installing this new version

I now you bored never ending questions, but we wonder what the maps inside.
I checked gbr.pak file and I know now this maps is different since last 7.50328 beta version

Excellent share, downloading the 2GB now, I will try put a list of what it contains up later and possibly try load some of the files up separately.

Tip for RapidShare:
I'm sure most people are aware of this, but if you don't want to wait between file parts and you have a dynamic IP address, you just have to restart your router to get assigned a new IP address and download next part without having to wait :D

Tried and tested this version of Mcguider on Nokia N73, routecalculation is no problem, but I still have the problem of the position on the display being behind about 300 meters from my real-time position. Very annoying. Is there anybody who doesn't have this problem with N73 or is Sygic/McGuider just not suitable for the N73 despite the claim of Sygic that it should be?

Maps are not the same. Different date and size. Plus I noticed some actual changes on roads I know (very small changes I admit ;) )

For example the gbr.pak would go into:

For Romanians:

Romanian map (Rou) is in part 18 of the archive. It is 889k, so you should not bother downloading.
I guess we have to wait to see what will Allview/Visual Fan do next.

This is good news , lets hope it will be big improvment. I like McGuider program but : 1) routing takes U sometimes 100's of miles around 2) recalulation is slow (has been getting better) 3) program needs to be otimized , drains phone
Anyway let's hope , they are one of the best (Garmin is #1) on the market at the moment and they are working!!! (not like Tomtom)

can someone help me to get this damn thing to recognise the gbr map please before i throw my n95 through the window :-) ... program works ok up until choosing map .. where it shows gbr .... click that and says initialising then goes to a screen with a red box in it saying no map loaded, tap here to access the menu.

Did you put the code from 3ppc.net (h**p://3ppc.net/sygicgen.php)? It should be a file license.txt in the Maps (exactly this name) folder with the gbr folder and the *.mlm file having line [gbr] inside.

With The 3D Pic. I Can´t Help You, But The Arrows Have To Be Activated In The Menu. Settings/Advanced Settings/Enable Lane Assistant.

I have seen those green arrows on mine screen once. not 100% sure what it means though.

i have north america maps that are not in the full retail pack.and the pak maps are exactly the same as with previous mcguider verion.

Seems a shame that they had to be posted as a 2gig bundle when most of us already have these maps. All I wanted was the symbian file but had to download a whopping 100mb to get it. Nevertheless, thanks for the post.

It is a text file, named as you wish with extension .mlm, having inside name of the maps in rectangular brackets, one per line:
So If you want Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Greece, it will be:
[ROU]
[BGR]
[HUN]
[GRE]
Somwhere in a Sygic thread you'll find All_maps.mlm with all names for europe.

You MUST be able to delete the directory and files contained in the directory Res: it's not a system one so it must work even without hack (connecting via mass storage).
Just remeber to enable in your PC (or in X-plore) to show hidden and system files, otherwise you will not see them and you can't change attributes ;)

The version number displayed in "About" is contained in the file (E:\Drive\Symbian\Settings.ini .. you can change it in whatever version you want :hehe:

Well my problem was ... the old installations files. I see that many people have this problem. In my case I've just connected the phone to PC via DATA TRANSFER not pc suite, and clean up my card. All files was deleted without any problem.

Mate I don't think that is your latest filmware mine is v20. You might have something running in the background perhaps?

I have just check - my current firmware is V20.0.016 not V15 as previously posted.

I can also confirm that McGuider was the only application that was active at the time of crash apart from Handy Taskman running in the background.

The icon files must be .BMP; width/height 20/20 pixels; resolutions 90-95 dpi; 8 bit. The file must have the same name as the upi file and stored in x:Res\Icons
(ex: radars.upi - radars.bmp)

They are as you mentioned except, the dpi. How can I see the dpi. I am currently using Paint.Net as image editor.

Volendo si possono copiare anche tutti gli altri file nella memory, ma secondo me non ce n'è bisogno.

I really like this program and think in time it will give TomTom a run for it's money BUT:

1) As somebody previously mentioned, the instructions appear too late (i.e. up to 100 yards after you've passed a junction before it is indicated on the screen).

2) The UK postcode search sucks. Also, using the "City Centre" feature does not work. If for example I choose Preston (Lancashire), I then get a list of towns that fall under the "PR" postcode - it should simply direct me to the centre of Preston!!

3) They need to either open up the POI format, or directly support OV2 so we can use speed camera alerts.

4) Would be nice to see their traffic implementation.

After deleting the old mcGuider and installing this new one it worked....

I think its the map you are using, I had the same problem until I changed it to a different one (beta maps tend to cause problems)

It is working great on my N82. I've uninstalled McGuider 409 and installed this one. I use 2008.Q1 maps. I really like it.

This confused me somewhat;

The original program (before TeleAtlas bought it) was called Sygic Drive.
TeleAtlas rebranded it to TeleAtlas McGuider.

Now this "update" has appeared and it has reverted the McGuider name back to Sygic Drive. The splash screen upon loading is also less "TeleAtlas" endowed than the retail version.

Not tried it yet but I will use it on my way home from work this evening and report back later.

I wonder when official updates will start to appear on TeleAtlas' site?

If You read the previous posts You will see that it is a pre-release. Probably Sygic is still used for beta's and pre-releases.

The upi files needs to be in the Maps forlder, for instance for GRB in here. The bmp files in the /Res/Icons forlder.

Image formats in Sygic software
Sygic software uses 2 types of images - low-quality 8-bit BMP files with limited transparency, or
32-bit BMP images, with full color and full transparency.


8-bit BMP files
Similar format as GIF - also uses palette, consisting of 256 colors.

Recomended for usage without transparency, or only for simple 1-bit transparency

Similar format as PNG - full color, with full 8-bit transparency channel.

version you see in about screen can be changed in settings.ini file. you can write there what ever version you want :) i think main version is the one that is shown during installation. so if the installer shows 7.52.514 its definitely newer than 7.52.409

I have a nokia N82 and Sygic works perfectly without lag. But after I added the speedcamera's it lags like hell! I haven't even added the speedcamera's to be shown on the map I only installed them on my memorycard and Sygic starts lagging. Does anyone share this problem with me?

You have to convert upi to ov2 and edit it in Poi Edit 2007.Select and clear all text and leave coordinates data only, save and convert back to upi.

I'll give it a try, but the speedcamera's I downloaded were already "Sygic-Ready" and working on other N82s with Sygic running. So don't know if that is going to solve the problem!

You don't have to be so upset on people making efforts to give free access to great stuff.
Maybe the developer was not very attentive and forgot to write the correct number in the *.ini file
I personally am convinced that this is exactly the version released by Sygic but if you want to be sure that you have the right version you can buy it from [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Afterwards I'm sure you'll put a post with the "right" version.

You can install or uninstall witch ever you want, it's all about kipping all folders and files on your memory card from version 7.52.409.

So I unistalled all sygic versions. Then installed version 7.52.409. Uninstalled it. Checked if the files and folders were still there, and they were. Finally I installed 7.52.514, and it didn't work... Unexpected error! What Im I missing here? Any tips?

Do you have also on your memory card a folder "maps" witch contains mlm file, wcl file and of course the maps you use files?

No. But Sygic runs without that folder man.. I'm running 7.52.409 without no maps..

You have to copy all folders in root of your memory card and install the sis. file also on your memory card. And the app wont run without maps. You will get unexpected error. Try to search the forum, you will find lot of tutorials.

Nothing it's wrong, probably you have installed v514, if you want, without changing anything, you can install over v.409 and it will work. But they are about the same, i don't see any difference, some say that 514 it's faster but i don't see it. Enjoy your navigation.

oh, ok.. another question: Why are the new Q2 maps not working on the v514??

I can't find GPS track logging functionality in the newest versions. Is there a way to reactivate it, e.g. by modifying ini-file or something?

Answering to myself: menu.settings.gpsLogs=1 in menu.ini did the trick. :)

When you are switching between versions, it's not enough to copy the new files onto the memory card.
YOU HAVE TO RUN THE INSTALLER \SetupSymbianS60.sis FROM THE ROOT DIRECTORY OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK!

Do somebody is wondered how to make new sound for POI ? I know how to do it. It's need to add some lines in application.skin file, and prepare sound samples in ogg format with wav extension.

I think it's the last version of Sygic, and I would like to test if the problem of flemish street names in Brussels/Belgium are resolved!!! I already have the latest maps (.pak) but it's not solved. :(

after starting up McG, i can choose a map.
i have only 1 map, Netherlands.
when I choose this map, the phone says NOT ENOUGH MEMORY, and McG shuts down...

When you insert the cable to connect the phone to select, Mass Memory, then goto folder DRIVE\SYMBIAN\ open settings.ini then at the bottom it has recommendedRam= change it to lower setting then save & close

sorry, i edit this value back from 10.0 to 5.0 and even 1.0. and it stil doesn't work, anyone any clue?

I am currently using using V7.52 (409) - It works but intermitently crashing without any reasons. Occasionally it says "unexpected error!"

Maybe it's not the map. Many times it's the POI, remove the unnecessary one, or see what POI you have on screen when it crashes and remove them.

I've tested this map of australia and got an error in Melbourne map.

Maybe it's not the map. Many times it's the POI, remove the unnecessary one, or see what POI you have on screen when it crashes and remove them.

I am still getting "unexpected error!" intermittently.

Sometimes Sygic failed to load until I restart my Nokia N95 8GB then Sygic will run.

You can use whatever you want. After formating MMC (drive E) of your N95 8GB, some of apps installed in phone memory(drive C) won't work anymore, but not all of them, just the ones that have files on drive E.

i have installed version 7.52 514 on a 6210NAV , program works but the sound/instructions get cut off , any ideas ??
