For those who don't have much space on memory card, or simply you don't want to carry that extra weight in your symbian phone you can use this lite version of McGuider without stuff that you don't need.
Download the first rar file, unzip, copy to the root of your memory card, install the sis file and after that download the second rar file , unzip and copy in "res/voices" just the voice you need.
Maps goes to "maps"folder in your root off memory card and you can download thanks to Waynebk post :

@Dani: I think there are no limitation, they are still testing the software on the official website, and they are taking testers, Ioji saved us from the registration hassle and all.

Except the voices (load just the one you need) nothing you can use for symbian is missing, just stuff for ppc,pda,pna.

By removing the voices you don't need and other files (the PDF, etc.), I think u get almost the same results without reinstallation. that's what I did.

Can i ask some questions ...
What is content of the mising folder "2577"? This "2577" folder is related to S60 or not, because it's not present in extra lite pack?
Beside this, can someone upload only "WCL" map pack here please for this new 7.52 ver. ... i cannot download 2GB ...:afraid:

In your maps directory you must have All Maps.mlm file AND license.txt files.
All Maps.mlm use from atachment and just copy to the Maps directory on you mem. card, ... "license.txt" automaticaly appear in this directory when you register application with online keygen from the first page.

Btw. example of the maps folder:
E:\Maps\ROU\... Romanian map files or only one "rou.pak" file ...
E:\Maps\RUS\... Russian map files or only one "rus.pak" file ...
............. etc ...
E:\Maps\All Maps.mlm

New Version Sygic McGuider 7.50.514 pre-release you can find it here:

If you steel want the lite version, use just the 'sis' file by installing it and keep the rest of the files. It will work just fine.

I don't see much difference from v409, but it works very well, and because has good map for Roumania, it's my favorite, even if Allview it's forever in hollydays and don't finish the map with POI, index, etc. TomTom lost interest in symbian so the map is old and i don't like Garmin very much.
It seems like this version of Sygic it's faster in computing route. I will test in a few days more, in a 1200 km trip.

No, you can't, basically it's the same app but without some unnecessary files. The 'engine' remain the same.

Not just for maps but also the app it's getting better and better, it's faster, routing it's better, now show the arrival time correctly, etc. The one you use is quite old.

If you have downloaded my uploaded McGuider Lite, there isn't drive.exe file, there is an sis.file what you have to instal. I just checked the rar.file and everything it's ok. Try to download again.

Because so many people does not know how to add speedcam to their maps, i decided to post here some of them. So, here it is first:

1 Copy the required file (.upi) to selected map folder.
2 Copy the matching .bmp file to Icons folder.
3 Start application, select Change preferences, Enable/disable POIs, select the required category.
4 Navigate to the selected Point of Interest.

Note: some POIs may not be reachable on the map, if the map is not detailed enough.

I don't know, it's so simple, just copy the folders to the root of your memory card, install the sis. file, create "maps" folder, copy inside the maps you want to use,(in pack format)the mlm file and the license file and you're done. Hope this will help.

If you have downloaded my uploaded McGuider Lite, there isn't drive.exe file, there is an sis.file what you have to instal. I just checked the rar.file and everything it's ok. Try to download again.

Now the file is ok.

But I get the error "unexpected error".

I put the zipped folder "McGuider v7.52.409lite" into the root of the card.
After that I install the file "SetupSymbianS60.sis".
And then I put the folder voices in E/McGuider v7.52.409lite/res/

It does not work.
Any solution for me?:confused:

You can create the license file in notepad without opening the McGuider, but this isn't the reason for the app to not opening, there is something what you're doing wrong. I suggest to read again everything about installing this app. Good luck !

You can use Europe-full.mlm or you can make a mlm for your country.
For example if you want to load only Germany open your notepad and add this:
[DEU]
and save the file.
After that just rename the file like Germany.mlm or whatever you want and put it
in "maps" folder from your memory card.

If you want to use more than one map just put the file from the attachment (delete "txt" extension) in maps folder and it will load all the maps that you have in maps folder.

I got it too and ....
Solution: in maps folder in mlm file can be only that countries what maps you there are. I think if in that file are fewer then OK but if there some non existing, you get that error.

You are wrong. You can have as many countries in the *.mlm file as you want. I have about 30 in the mlm, but only 4 actual maps.
So your error has another cause.
I suggest you remove all new POIs that you inserted. Then introduce new POIs only from TomTom converted with the software mentioned somewhere in this thread. Put them correctly: POIs in the respective map folder and Icons in the Icons folder. There are some restrictions in the size of the icons: better check what Ioji and Tziganu wrote on POIs in this thread or in another Sygic thread.

Unexpected error mai have many causes. It might be a map bug in a certain area.

Glad you made it, it seems like even if you convert TomTom poi to upi. file, McGuider does not support the icon, you have to make some changes to this too. So, for everyone, you can steel use the speedcams posted but change the icon with one provided here in this thread renamed of course as you need.

i have a nokia n82, with this version of the lite software, and australian maps version 7.54, and the application loads fine, and recognises the maps, but then when i want to browse the map, or when it locks onto a gps connection, the application ends itself and goes back to the fone menu, or it says unexpected error and shuts down the application

Why is this so, it is really frustrating.

Btw, i am 99% sure my folder structure is right, and the .mln file.

The app works just great, for your problem read all posts from this thread, it could be from several reasons, including incompatible map,or POI, or others. Maybe you will find your answer.

Ive read all the posts,and tried all the things. Is there any way i can diagnose the problem? A log?

There are some, i don't know witch works, try them, i am from Europe, i found this, try it, if not working, you can search for another version.

thanks again, but that version of the maps is the 1 im using now. The other version i found, the link is dead at rapidshare, so i need someone who got a copy of the maps b4 the link went bad to repost.

Were you able to find any other versions? Ive been looking 4 hours

Sorry, i don't know any other because i was not interested, being from Europe, but if you used this version, i am pretty shore that's the reason for "unespected error". If i found another version, i let you know.

What file ? What are you talking about ? Be more specific. Sygic Lite and voices are still there and good to download.

You need mlm file and wcl file (world base map) both goes in E/Maps. You could find them here :

And again, search using keyword "sygic drive mcguider" and you will find lots of tutorials about how to make it work. Enjoy.

On memory card(E) you have folder "maps" ; in there you have maps folders : DEU,CZE,AUT... , WCL folder and ALL MAPS file.

I did all what u wrote, but all the time when I want to open this software I get ''Unexpected error!'' sign on my N95.

I unzip'ed it at and copied it in memory card root folder. Looks like this: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Then I installed SIS file from there, after that copied voice and maps. First time I tried to install SIS in phone memory, second time in memory card, but both times I get ''Unexpected error!''.
So, how I can install it?

Yes, it is perfect on E71 but it is not working on Samsung i550 because it doesn't recognise the internal GPS. Anybody with the same problem ?

Try in Settings/Hardware GPS/ Port Com and choose integrated GPS or asisted GPS.

Thanks for your reply but that is exactly what I've done before posting.
My expectation is that for i550 (not mentioned as a supported device by Sygic) there might be some workaround (kinda editing some file).

That's Romanian actually! It's only a disclaimer stating the traffic laws take precedence before Sygic's indications, i.e. even if the software is telling you to turn right. if there is a one-way road there you should obey the traffic laws, and also do not operate the device when driving. When you change the interface language to english that message isn't displayed anymore. It's meant only for the Romanian version of the software.

Choose "yes" (da) go to setting (setari) and after that "language" (setati limba) and find the language you wish. By the way, it's a language called roumanian from a country near Black Sea also called Roumania.

No, you doing wrong. You have to put it in E/Res/Voices.

The Samsung D900i does not run on Symbian so forget it.
Your only chance is some Navigation software in Java.
There are a few ones including, of course, in this forum.

I see you are from Italy, so, you have to put the whole folder named "italian" in folder "Voices".

hi everybody!!
i need some help please!! i did everything that i saw here and im still getting the "unexpected error".
this is what i did:
i installed the mcguider by data transfer to the mass memory. it created an new folder. i installed the mcguider, then i did a new map called MAPS, i transfered the folders with MLM files from some maps and i put inside of the folder MAPS, i went to the site that generates a new code and i wrote it in text document and i did a folder and transfered to inside of MAPS. the voices also transfered to inside of mcguider to RES/VOICES.
and im still getting the error.
should i install it on phone memory or mass memory?
i have nokia n95 8gb

everything is working, only when i try to load a map it says not enough memory and closes the application, and i have my maps in my root mass memory inside of my folder" MAPS".
so i dont know why it says that i dont have enough memory.
i have nokia n95 8gb.

In maps folder you have to put maps you need in pack format inside folder like: E/Maps/NLD. Also in maps folder you have to put MLM file along with License file.
I guess you did something wrong because N95 8Gb don't run out of memory.

This is how your Maps folder should look, instead of ROU of course NLD or PRT.
You can get your license from russian site and just activate McGuider when you turned on,it makes the file by him self.

hi there, i have managed to install mcguider without any hassle... but however i have problem in the map... i have placed the aus map into the map folder... but when i start mcguider it always says that i have no maps detected.. what is to be done??

You have the latest official version. On my phone it shows the correct arrival time, sometimes i get there a little sooner because i go faster then normally(legally).

Thanks to the contributor for this app. Working on my E71. Just have to find the right map for Australia. The single file that I downloaded isn't showing up in the app. Downloading the 2 part file now.. fingers crossed.

Edit: Aistralia and New Zealand maps are working. Woohoo!

you can use ov2upi 2.3 to convert from tomtom ov2 or Poiconvertor from Sygic website.
Moreover you can edit by PoiEdit2007 save as tomtom ov2 file, and convert after or use any calculation sheet (Excell, openoffice etc.) and prepare txt file for PoiConvertor.
