View Full Version : Invion and gps software!
davidstjohn3 13th May 2008, 04:01 I was wondering if there are any other gps software i can run with my 4v106 i have i have successfully installed destinator 7 and like the look of some of the other gps software like igo and some others... Please anybody knows anything about this let me know thanks.
Dutchboy 14th May 2008, 19:23 Yes you can.
I have an inVion 4v105.
Currently I have iGO8, Finean v3, Sygic 7.5 and V7 Navigator running.
Before that, I had tomtom6, Miomap, iGO 2006, Route 66 v8, and Destinator 7 installed.
But the 2GB memory card could not contain all the maps :)
The rest of the SD card is filled with usefull tools, like a fancy looking ipod look and MioShell.
davidstjohn3 14th May 2008, 22:03 Wow! very nnice... So ur into various mapping software. I want to learmn more also whats ur favorite one to use out of all those? I have only used Destinator 6 and 7. also if u would consider haelping me install igo also that sounds outstanding... I would greatly appreciat it i am a truck driver and love GPS software. Thanks please let me know if u would do that thanks...
Dutchboy 14th May 2008, 23:35 I started with Tomtom because I used it on my PDA.
The software that mimicks Tomtom is Sygic.
Sygic is slightly better because it shows roadsigns and Lane Assist.
The other navi on my PDA is iGO.
The newest version (today) is iGO8, which runs very smoothly on the inVion.
An iGO clone is V7 Navigator, which has the same black shiny looks as my inVion, so this makes a perfect match.
I use Finean because it looks very very nice and it is a navi app I never used before.
My favorite is Sygic because of the roadsigns and Lane Assist, but it makes a few very strange routing decision.
Therefore my current favorite navi app is iGO8.
I will copy my SD card, remove personal data, and then upload it to a share site.
You can experiment with it as much as you like.
All I ask is a few days to sort things out.
In the mean time you can look at

davidstjohn3 15th May 2008, 02:25 well thank you so much ur very generous. I am excited about trying it. I will let u know all about how it works for me also. thanks again...
tanwill 29th July 2008, 15:18 Ohh... me too.

I'm here, but I'm mostly reading the Tomtom section.
Which navigation app do you want to use on the inVion ?
I've attached the files which are in the root of my (new) SD Card.
These files 'unlock' the inVion.
(I do not know if all the files are needed)
Read the ShincoUpdate.mscr with notepad to understand how it is done.
Then you can add the navigation app of your choice on the SD Card and make a shortcut of the executable on the root of the SD.
Just look at the URL's I posted here before.
The GPS connects to Com1, 38400.
Good luck.
(Have fun)

ok thanks very much, rep+
for you, which nav software are the best? exept tomtom that i already have(7.910+map8.15.2024)
however i only need the program and these files to run almost every nav software?
can you give me some links of the right program to download here in the forum? because i saw a lot of version but i dont know which to chose
thank you very much!
Dutchboy 30th December 2008, 12:48 , which nav software are the best?
The best Nav app is the one you feel comfortable with.
In my case it is iGO8 (v 8.3) with a Magellan skin (http://i37.tinypic.com/zno5kn.png). It works perfect (http://i36.tinypic.com/ezrf45.png) on my inVion 5 (WinCE 4.2 / 480x272).
When a better version of another Nav App comes along I switch to that one.
(This is the main advantage over a genuine PND like Garmin or TomtomGO)
I am also experimenting with MioMap 2008, both Mireo and NavnGo versions.
The other Nav Apps I use are:
Navigon 6.5 with RealView
Sygic McGuider 7.7
Finean v5
I also had Route66 v7, MioMap 3.3, iGO2006 and Garmin working but I keep coming back to the one's mentioned above.
You can find the apps in this thread but also at:

Hello there PacStealer,
I had the same problem with iGO8.3.1.
Altough I did not have it with iGO 8.0.0 !
I still have this kind of problem with MioMap2008 mireo version but not with the MioMap2008 NavnGo version. A message appears saying that the battery is almost empty. The message stays until I press OK, but a few seconds later the message reappears. I haven't found a workaround yet.
The battery indicator within MM2008 always shows that it is charging. Weather power is connected or not.
I now use a Magellan skin with iGO8.3.1, and the issue is gone:good2:. I have no idea why.
The skin is beautifull as you can see here:
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=255&t=53368
my sys.txt goes as follows:
====================
sdcardpath="\\SDMMC Disk\\"
[folders]
;app="/SDMMC DISK/igo"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
laneinfo_signpost_enabled=1
skin="ui_magellan"
resolution_dir="480_272"
;shutdown_time=0
[rawdisplay]
class="auto"
screen_x=480
screen_y=272
[timezone]
default_timezone=29
[gps]
port=1
baud=38400
source="nmea"
[tmc]
tmc=0
[project]
name="magellan4350"
====================
The only drawback is, that there is no exit button.
The show_exit=1 doesn't work for me.
So I can only 'exit' by pressing the power button :-)
I can live with that.
PacStealer 5th January 2009, 16:34 i solve the shut down putting this into sys.txt
[interface]
shutdown_time=0
without the ";" before the string
even with igo 8.3.1
Now i have another problem: all goes ok exept on the loading screen,it sleep one minute on "initializing warning data".. Before it didnt do that.. Maybe its the version but i dont know which to use..
Dutchboy 5th January 2009, 18:48 Now i have another problem: all goes ok exept on the loading screen,it sleep one minute on "initializing warning data".. Before it didnt do that.. Maybe its the version but i dont know which to use..
The inVIon is not sleeping.
It means that you have a txt file in the \SDMMC\igo8\content\speedcam\ folder.
If a txt file exists in this folder, iGO8 converts it to a speedcam.spdb file.
This is an iGO8 database for the speed camera's.:D
The conversion takes a while.
PacStealer 6th January 2009, 13:33 ok and then i can delete the txt right??
reactbob 1st July 2009, 19:30 G day guys My name is Bob and I am from Melbourne Australia. I have a bit of a problem I used to have a Hitachi MMP 501 gps which was stolen from my car when I bought it it cost $ 800 (not isured) and could not afford to pay this amount again. I found a Invion 5 inch unit which is the same as the Hitachi I got this unit from 4doutlets in the USA it cost $129. Now to the problem it only has US maps when you turn it on it says antenna connected but it will not pick up any satilites. It has Destinator 6 I think, At our local computer swap meet I got Destinator 7 and TomTom for PPC I tried to put them on but had no success then I found this thread and downloaded the tools to open up the operating system but I dont know what to do with the files. If anyone could get me a copy of a SD card with software or talk me through how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The object is to find out if the GPS is faulty or if there is a problem with the software. The only thing I can think off that there might be a problem with baud rates or com ports.
Regards Bob
