these dumps are very important to study the file system of different phones secondly they are needed by fca who know much more than me. fca only have N80 so he makes all his patches according to it because he can,t buy all the phones so the only way is getting a rom dump from all the phones to make either universal patches or different patches for different phones.


DumpTools create a ROM dump for analyzing the contents of the ROM. Not all the files on Z: are in ROM and the ROMPatcher can only patch those files that are in the ROM. To use it install DumpTools.sis on phone memory and run it. It will run for some time and create the file E:\romdump.dmp. Transfer this file to PC and from command-line run 'zripper romdump.dmp'. This will extract the contents of the ROM in a folder named DiskZ.

you've got to be kidding me.. so an offline update of a phone might be possible after all? the prob is, what installer do we use?

N73,N82,E51.E65,nokia5700.If you can make a romdump of your phone using dump tools by zorn host it on any file sharing site it would be very useful for developmental purposes and for making patches for different phones.

from these tools extract romdump.sisx to you phone and install it. Now open dump rom and click on dump after the process is complete a file romdump.dmp will be produced in e:\drive thats your rom dump.

Do you want full dump of the Z: drive or the ROM dump. Z: drive is not the ROM as assumed by everyone ;)

it is used to extract the contents from the .dmp file into your pc. Means its a ripper which unbinds z drive content so called as a zripper.

thanks friends for help. Flodis i will give that dmp to fca to cheak it and make a c2z patch(if he can) specially for E51 so that you and all E51 users can get full benefit of it.

Aha.. Well if that is the case, maybe "DumpRom" is not the best solution of gathering phones file structure.. I wanned to see some files in Z:\resource\apps folder on N73.. better to make a copy of all Z:\ files to the memory card using X-plore and upload it here..

I'll try 2 upload the files and folders of whole Z drive of N73ME .As copying from Z drive is very slow,it will take some time.

we upload these dumps so FCA0000 and other developers understand better the symbian security, since they dont have all models. we hope that this will help them

Two things:
1, With this app, everybody can make his/her own installserver for Fp2: just run the Fp2 installserver 1.1 patch by wadowice, launch DumpROM, etract the dump file on your PC and copy the installserver exe to your C:\sys\bin! thats all, it is fully functional however not as good as the FP1 (the FP1 IS lets you to install built-in components, update them like there is the PIPS update in python 1.9.5, with this it wont let you to install but with Fp1 IS it will let you!)
2, Could someone upload the N86 8MP's Z drive? I need the private folder mostly...

Will somebody please find a method to use nokia's IM service in this phone? I can files in Z drive such as imlauncher.exe. But the app doesn't run when the exe is executed manually. Please help.

you cant just execute an exe file manually... you have to pack all the files of that app (the contents from private, resource, sys and maybe from system too..) to a sis file and install it to any phone.. they should work!

Have you tried it on another phone? and with the correct file-folder path? send me all the files you've got and I will try it! So not just the EXE file, but the files from resources/->, private/-> and sys/-> (-> means from the subfolders too)

I managed to install DumpROM on my N97 by signing it with a Dev Cert. It opens also responds to touch screen ! But when i click Dump, it shows Dumping Rom for a sec and crashes out !

Please fix this so I can provide you with a dump !
