View Full Version : Remove WLAN scan, Search, calendar entries, and todo notes from Active Standby screen
abilheteria 18th May 2008, 02:01 With these four patches, you can remove all stuck stuff from Active Standby screen, allowing you to view only the regular shortcuts you've set in phone settings.
No more WLAN scan, Search, calendar entries, and to-do notes in Active Standby screen.
All by Alberto Bilheteria.
Use this patches with "ROM patcher" (by Zorn) for S60v3
How to use:
-extract the four .rmp files to E:\patches\ in your memory card
-turn "Active Standby" off (unless it's disabled already)
-make sure you have "ROM patcher" by Zorn installed in your phone. Then launch it.
-apply any of the patches (or even all four) you want.
-turn "Active Standby" on.
After that, the feature(s) you've applied the patch for (Search plugin, WLAN scan, Calendar entries, and/or To-do notes) won't show up.

Can we revert this to turn on some parts of active standbay on for example nokia 6120c like search ?
geojoking 18th May 2008, 02:21 I wish we could add the things the E-Series display: Missed Calls, New Messanges etc.

kojirox 18th May 2008, 04:24 Tested success on my N95!
Many thanks!
Now Im confused.
Does your phone dont have option to off active standby on seting/phone/standby?
You can use smart setting to add aplication (like pulldown menu) on your background if you want to add something.
swankyleo 18th May 2008, 06:24 Can we revert this to turn on some parts of active standbay on for example nokia 6120c like search ?Mate I guess you haven't even opened the rar file yet. Its has different rmp files for each one of those. So simply enable the ones you want ;)
Now Im confused.
Does your phone dont have option to off active standby on seting/phone/standby?Mate from settings you can only turn off the whole standby mode, but then you also loose the quick shortcuts. This patch gets rid off the selective active stanby plugins :)

I think I have found out a way. In z:\private\101F8F7D\ there is a file called IdsContentTypeOrder.ini and if you open it, you can see that it defines how the desktop should look like. Try playing around with the file, then restart and see if something changes? I'm not 100% sure... You have to copy the file to c:\private\101F8F7D when you are finished with the file.

andrazek 18th May 2008, 14:11 how to remove share online 3 event???
FCA00000 18th May 2008, 14:19 Hi
The patch doesn't work on N80 because those files are not in ROM, although they are in Z:
Probably same thing happens on preFP1 devices :-(
CONNEX 18th May 2008, 15:03 Is this patch permanent ?
Or we have to apply after each restart of the phone ?

abilheteria 18th May 2008, 19:53 how to remove share online 3 event???
This is --a try-- (a try) to remove Share Online plugin in some phones that have it.
It might work only in phones that have Share Online pre-installed in Z drive.
Follow the same instructions of the other four patches when applying this one.
Post your results, phone model and firmware version here, but ONLY if your phone has the Share Online plugin in Active Standby screen
Note this is an untested patch

jarbamare 19th May 2008, 12:54 Nice tutorial and nice patches ... great for people who need empty screen without extra information on it ...:)
But for me, i just love to have everithing on the screen and active screen plugins is just great info service for me.
Hope someone will release some weather standby plugin, to have weather icons direct on the main screen like on WM phones ...
BTW. rep +++ for abilheteria!!!
P.S. if someone use this patches i don,t believe than that he want to use any of the 3rd party apps further ... like "S60 Ticker", "Google Search Plugin", or something similar ...:(

There's a discussion in Symbian-freak where i'm trying to find out E-series' plugin files name to have extras (like messages) displayed in Active Standby screen.
Once we find out what are the extra files existing in E-series devices that make things like messages and calls to appear in Active Standby, we can try something

mrgrey 3rd June 2008, 01:10 The patch works on my N82 but when the phone is restarted the menus appear again. Any fix for this?
No, these patches work on the basis that the files you want to edit are copied to ram memory and edited there, so when you restart the phone the ram is cleared and any changes are gone.
incurs0R 3rd June 2008, 01:16 The only thing i discovered by analyzing the patches is that the patch "releases" a certain exe on some memory adresses and thats basically it. If its not permanent this hack is practically useless then :(
mrgrey 3rd June 2008, 01:34 Fair enough.
I rarely turn off my phone so it's as good as permanent to me.
Also at least it gives some ability to alter the rom even if it is only until you restart.
incurs0R 3rd June 2008, 01:40 True though I prefer my solutions permanent :)
appaddict 3rd June 2008, 07:12 nothing happen man, no cal when i apply the nocal patch the icon change to "x" but when i apply enablehiddenmenus its working... please help me..

Well, I think so... I have the patch EnableHiddenMenus and I can activate it, although I'm not sure if it's working correctly! When I go to Menu and select Options, appears a new one saying Editing options, but no options appear :(
I have to try installing everything from the beginning, because I'm having problems with my phone (randomly shutdowns, sometimes when I open camera cover, other times when I go see if anyone called me the phone is off :( )!
Should have bought a new phone, not a used one :angry2: (damm thing of trying to save some money  ). If I can't solve the problem I'll buy a new one, that's fore sure...

Yep, been there, done that... 2 or 3 times actually, after the software update, but still having problems! Tomorrow I'm going to a Nokia Service Point to see what is happening with the phone! Unfortunately, I know for sure that I must leave it there for at least 3 or 4 days!
Oh weel, let me see how it goes and after that I'll decide what to do!
Sorry all for the offtopic, and thanks for the suggestion ter_101 :thanks:

Did you follow procedure from first page?
1. Turn "Active Standby" off (unless it's disabled already)
2. Apply any of the patches (or even all four) you want.
3. Turn "Active Standby" on.

when I reboot the phone with the option in x-plore.. the patch take effect after that.. any idea how to slöove the problem??
thank you..
Psykitt 27th July 2008, 16:36 Hello matze,
the problem is that you will always have to switch off active standby and on again.
This cannot be done at reboot automatically yet.
Greetings Psykitt
matze 27th July 2008, 20:34 ah all right .. thank you... but why is the patch runiing ok at reboot only on full shutdown and boot not ??
Psykitt 27th July 2008, 21:57 On reboot it will not switch off the patch and the active standby I think.
On coldstart it first loads the active standby and than applies the patch thats the reason.

i have researched this thing, and found that maby the one who created this movie, has got an n95, not an n82... the movie was done just for demo/explanation. this is the creator's link: http://www.finestfones.com/2008/07/how-to-increase-brightness-of-your.html hw states that he does not own an n82, so i belive he has got an n95... sad...
Solos 26th November 2008, 01:00 Exactly, please someone make it work on FP2 mobiles.

Probably a good idea to back up your C:\RESOURCE\AIPluginDefinition.rsc file first.
