Whenever i open any drive in "my computer",it opens in a new window.
I saw the same problem at my friends computer.He formatted the whole computer.
But i do not want to do so .somebody said that its a virus that sits on that particular drive whenever we format that drive the problem was soled but not for all drives.
Help

Try to do this: My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->Open each folder in the same window (for what you want)...

That does not solve the problem .
That is some kind of virus.
Whenever i format that drive the problem solved for that particular drive.but when i restarted my computer the problem reappears . Please help i dont want to loose my data.

it's strange that you are so sure it's a virus...viruses does make more "damage" than this...you'd scanned your PC with ANY antivirus ?

Try this


From mepetrut ;)
My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->Open each folder in the same window (for what you want)...

Then after you click ok, repeat the above procedure and check if "open new folder in its own window" is still selected even you switch to same window, then you might be infected with virus.

It already replace the setting on registry. Hope someone will provide you the code or procedure how to change it.

Yes its some kind of virus .
under folder options i selected "open each folder in the same window".
But it happens only for drives and not for folders inside drives
