Because you are in 3G.
For view 3g cell you must go to menu 41.12 and 41.13

one could even setup a sis which works on non-hacked phones (only dev cert for signing) if the FtdGwcTest.exe would not require that many capabilities !

maybe one can strip the capabilities drm and allfiles off FtdGwcTest.exe and see that ftd still works !

i think you must have copied all the files manually before installing it. If it is not the case then try to manually place all the files but be careful by placing the files manually the application cannot be deleted with the app. Manager.

first cheak which cappabilities are provided by devcert then please post them here i can help you by stripping of the caps for non-hacked phones.

I am using 3g, and ftd menu 01.09 shows the network parameters. 41.13 and 41.14 shows the "intra freq neigh", which I take as something to do with neighbouring cells? But what is the difference between 41.13/4 and 01.03/4? I do not seem to get as much info in 41.13/4?

What is 01.06? Forbidden networks? I have networks like 238xx, 240xx, 222xx here... Many different countries? Is this normal? :)

For some reason in my phone the directory dynbase didn't exist (I created). Also the directory private\101F457f is not there.

The software is normally useless to normal dudes. It's being used by network engineers (like me :partyman:) in situations like... e.g. users report high droprate in a given area. Network engineer goes to the area, in netmonitor he can see when he is tuned onto the affected site/sector, he can lock himself onto that and make some tests to see in real-time, wether dropped calls appear or not. Or else, if a new site is integrated into the network, the field engineers have to test the site, to test handovers from/onto this site, so they again, are using netmonitor to see which cell are they currently on. Etc. :weedman:

Not really. That's what people think :hahaha2: It's one of the hundreds of uses is helping revealing faults in the network, but not directly... it won't show you "Hey, here it is wrong, fix it!", it will just allow you to use selected frequencies, selected cells, see cell IDs and so on, which alltogether can help the engineers to look for something they are looking for :hehe: I hope I did give this out understandable :confused:

When I inserted those three new files, the icon name of the app changed from 'ftd' to 'Fieldtest" and it is also indexed in SkyeQuiKey, AppQManager and similar applications. Before it couldn't be found in those apps. nice one :dance: Was it the dynbase file that made it searchable?

I have told you that this is not installing on nokia5700 and also the adobe reader 2.5 with original symbian cert is not installing on my phone don,t know why i installed it before but now after reformating it is not installing very annoying for me.
As For non-hacked phones i have removed all the strong caps which were not provided by our symbian devcerts from the dll and exe files. May be some of the functions don,t work but i don,t noticed any.

omg! Sorry very sorry! I just uploaded the old file it was my mistake now test this it would surely work. This is the last one and working gurrenteed but do remember to replace the replace the exe,s and dll,s in c\sys\bin. After that it would work.

Anyway using the copy method works. But some pages are not working and not existing :

For example:
Page - 75 - gps - shows only x even though gps is turned on and shows values via garmin
Page - 61 - power management - missing - should give access to battery information

Maybe some files are stil missing to get it 100% working

may be there are some missing but the sis is 100% working i have tested it on four phones try to delete all manually copied files and then install. It will surely work.

nope its like the earlier ones you posted , after about 3/4th installation its gives error "unable to install" and exits the installer , BTW, i am using n95-1 fw: 21.0.016 and the phone is hacked, i also have rompatcher and binpda platsec installed so i guess its not the fault on my end ;)

forgot to mention i havent yet used the copy method for installing the netmon :)
also i have tried it with installserver.exe mod ,
also tried it with devcert signed.(which gives me error that component is builtin).
so i guess its not ready yet.

Let me illustrate a money-saver use for field test/net monitor.

The Italian telco Wind, in 2004, launched a very convenient flat rate connectivity option called "Libero mobile no limit", which for a modest monthly expense allowed full-time gprs and edge connections. Probably since it was too convenient for users, this offer was terminated after few months, but those who activated during that period can enjoy it until they explicitly sign for stopping.
The problem is that flat rate connectivity is only for gprs/edge, while data exchanged under umts-3g are billed at those shameless rates we are used to know. And unfortunately the majority of modern phones can't be easily set to connect only in 2g or 2.5g without turning to 3g.
This was the case for my brother-in-law and his E51 - but I was lucky enough to google to this thread and learn to hack the phone, install field-test and lock his phone in gsm mode.

in 3g networks, you can see the the power of the channel in menu' 41.12 (INTRA RSSI). The chanell's list are in menu 41.13. In 3g networks there ar'nt c1 and c2 paramt.

i have to correct!the cause of "file damaged":i have installed installserver.exe in c:\sys\bin...so now i have removed this file from the c:\sys\bin.

Here a ftd, 100% installation without errors. Simply in all firnware of sewings already there are files: z/sys/bin/FtdGwcTest.exe, Field.dll, z/resource/plugins/ftd.dll55l. Therefore during installing and gave out an error a "component is built-in"

For a noob, you're not really smart. If you read through this thread from page 1, you would understand a lot of this... go and do some reading before you ask again :confused:

I have found 2 bugs in this version of FTD.
1. In test 1.9 The LAC is not show correct if its is a number superior at 3000. My lac is 35020 and FTD show -35016
2. In test 1.1 ftd dos not show the frequence hopping channel sequence . It is loked on a channel. Example H66. (hopping is a service network)

Test 1.1 works fine for me. My LAC is 3400 now and it works just fine, at home in Slovakia I have a LAC of the value 5200 and it works also fine... maybe there will be some cons with certain models of Nokias... :confused:

but your network carrier use the frequence hopping??
In italy wind mobile use the hopping with this channel, 65/66/67/68/116/117 ecc ecc but ftd show only H65.. in 6680 FTD show all the hopping channels..

Of course we use frequency hopping both on 900 and 1800MHz...

I put all the file manually in my 6120 I ceck all file OK but i can't run FTD because nothing because no FTD launcher in "menu" "application" "personnal"
How can I make

I have install celltrack and in the "menu" "application" "personnal" I have the celltrack launcher

re put the files manually... i have 6120c firmware 4.21 and FTD works percetc. In 6120c you must use the zip ftdAllsymbian. not the the files with icon.

Here a ftd, 100% installation without errors. Simply in all firnware of sewings already there are files: z/sys/bin/FtdGwcTest.exe, Field.dll, z/resource/plugins/ftd.dll55l. Therefore during installing and gave out an error a "component is built-in"

this is working very well...

maybe you should try it first before using the manual method.

No. The purpose of hacking the device is making the user able to see and access hidden and system folders, where you need tu put all those files for the FieldTest to run :exactly: How come it's not working on E51? If I remember good, I did open a friend's E51 with the ROMPatcher...

If you will get use for the FieldTest, then there's no reason not to hack the phone. It's harmless, if you don't mess with it. The only thing it does is, that it allows any file manager in the phone to see the sys and hidden folders. Nothing special, nothing you could worry about. Of course there are other scripts that you can use with the ROMPatcher, too, but for this thing, you only need the ones to show hidden/sys folders and menus... good luck with it! :good2:

I installed the solution form Binpda. All the instalation went fine but I cannot see the private folders with X-plore

If someone interested - I tested it (every function) on N82 black, works fine. SIS(x) doesn't install, returns an error "- Application already installed" but the manual file insertion does it all..

Somehow i do not see a icon for FTD on my N80 but the program is working fine. Also tried to copy the icon files manually to C:\resources\apps

Also restarted the phone several times.

Some ideas?

ps. i did not hack my phone just installed SecMan and used the BINPDA files

Just un-installed the BinPDA version of FTD, Copied all files manually, added the icons, restarted the phone........et voilas....everything works and also the icon is there.

Lol first of i had read whole 17 page n search lot on google i found that this software or this type software r use by network engineers n some geeks { which i want to bcome n trying hard } n now back to topic - n after thinking sometime i manage to figure out that this software also used to switch ur network from 3g to edge gprs right ? But unfortunetly in india there is no 3g and here edge gprs gives 2kb to 4kb download speed means it download 4 mb file in 1 hour lol that means here mobile is useless for internet stuff thouh m using mobile bcoz of its mobility now finally i want to ask a noob question how can i increase my download speed not too much but atleast 15 to 20 kb so if there is anyway then plz help this noob user n plz little help would be great n i wanna tell u that it works in my n82 with copying method now i m waiting for some help from u guys plz help me n reply asap

Follow your steps, I've installed FTD on my N73 and it's working properly but I found a bug that when I'm making a call ( on TCH ) , the "TX power value" don't refresh and Update ?

Moreover, I can't find a folder in C:\ have name "101F457f" and folder name "dynbase" to copy your files to correct section. So I can creat a folder with same name and copy 2 file (MmRmDSPInitData.RSC , dynbase.dof55l) into that. What is it for purpose ? Can U explain to me ?

On the new firmwares on any Nokia (except the E90), yuou have to use the Hellocarbide crack to be able to install the *.sis version of ROMPatcher! The old way, cracking the phone from a PC does not work anymore! Be aware of the fact, that there will be more phones like the E90, where even the Hellocarbide fails cracking the phone.

Toocool4all: FTD gives you the ability to choose on which BTS you settle among those you are in coverage. You will use BTS Test menu. Once you settle on a non occupied BTS your signal level might be lower but since this BTS (BaseTranscieverStation) is not occupied by lots of internet/phone users you can gain some DL/UL speed. Try all frequencies you are in range and find the best for your surfing. Remember to shutoff the BTS Test menu when you are finished surfing or you will lose coverage when you'll leave the area.
