1. Minute software base available.
2. Forced applications.
3. No streaming support (even as promised)
4. No video camera (even as promised)
5. Draconian Enterprise system.
6. You've got mail! You've got mail! (Dupes are fun!)
7. Horrible media player. Crash much?
8. Horrible codec support.
9. Themes? Oh please.
10. Software so scarce, even the crackers don't bother with it.
I shelled out $150 (the corp got the rest) for a new 8310 and it's just useless. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is Google's apps and MiniOpera.
And why can't I delete the lame crap they put on it? Pet-peeve with all mobile makers. I don't want your lame pictures, ringtones or logos.
A couple of cans and a piece of string would be more eneteraining than my 8310.

Capt Zero, could you specify what's wrong with media player and codecs ?
And what did you mean by "forced apps" ?

Sure.
I have a major beef with the formats RIM supports. Or should I say FORMAT; MP4/MP4/AAC.
That's it, and unless it's perfectly encoded, it won't play. If it's a full movie, forget about trying to scan through it, it'll just crash and reset the phone. I'd like to see different formats supported, ogg, wmv, avi, even mpg. Even some image formats are incompatible - ever tried an animgif for your desktop?
The 'forced apps' comment was a little misleading, I admit. But there is junk on there that can't be removed and it pisses me off. And most (if not all) cell phone makers are guilty of this. Unless you go into the OS level on the phone, you can't delete a lot of stuff since the files are locked in FAT. I don't need your 'sample images', thanks. Or your 'Shop for Shit' here shortcuts ALL over the place. THe browser is a major piece of crap and MUST be the default browser. At least with Windows you can set another default browser, can't do that with MiniOpera, for example.
Some of the RIM tools are limited but, I have to say that the new 4.5 OS has really enhanced the BB. There's still crappy codec support and the same lame apps are there but.. it's a start.
