Is it maybe possible for someone to check whether this program and the serial key works? I'm planning on purchasing a Blackberry but don't want one if i can't run a cracked version of msdict (been using msdict on series60 for ages). I'd appreciate the help a lot! Thanks!

If you run the exe, and go through the installer, there will be a point where it'll ask you to plug in your BB, (I did it with Desktop Manager running), and it went flawlessly along with the serial. Much appreciated!

Nice app - thanks.

Some additional info for those in need:

Works on the Curve. And, better yet, during the installation you are prompted for the location of the dictionary files. I chose my storage card and just under 10MB of files were conveniently placed on the card and NOT in RAM.

Works perfectly,

Thanks again.

hmm..when it goes to the install screen where it lists applications to be installed or removed, I went and tried to add the msdict alx file, as well as the dictionary and thesaurus alx files but none of them worked, all stating that it could not find a program designed for my device...I have a cdma(TELUS) curve(8330)...has anyone got it to work on their cdma curve?

I2Iceboy:

Sort of new to the BB world, so don't take my recommendations as being the best solution.

That said, here's what I'd consider. When I first got my TELUS curve, I had similar problems and read over at crackberry.com that the BB operating system (OS) 4.3 had app installation issues which were addressed by upgrading the OS.

As soon as you start researching that secondary item (newer OS), you'll find that there are several beta versions floating around. I've been thru 3 of them and they have all worked fine. So, my recommendation to you is to upgrade your BB OS to 4.5 rev .77.

The link to this beta OS is at: http://nerdheroes.com/content/?p=26
Although you should sniff around Crackberry for a more detailed set of instructions on how to upgrade the OS, here's the basic recipe for a delicious BB upgrade:

Prelim work:
- Install the latest desktop manager s/w (currently 4.6) and ensure that your BB is properly connected, recognized and working with the computer
- Record the current version of the BB's operating system (Main screen - options - status). Mine say ver 4.5.0.77

1.) Download the OS from the link above
- I think I recall that he includes a second link to the 8830, but both links say 8330. Put your mouse over both links and only download/install the 8330 version and NOT the 8830 version
- Also download the ringtones fix which the guy makes reference to in the same post and follow those instructions before you connect your BB to the desktop. The work involved is only includes copying one file to a subfolder.

2.) On the computer already running the Desktop manager software
- Install the file you just downloaded
- Note, this step only installs the files locally. It does not actually start the device upgrade process. That doesn't happen until you connect the device to the computer in later steps.

3.) Delete the VENDOR.XML file
- I think it's in the c:\program files\research in motion\app loader
- Have read this is important, so do it. Search for the file if the spot I've listed is incorrect.

4.) Connect the BB
- Don't forget to do the ring tones patch/file copy before conencting
- After the connection, my desktop software said there was a new update and walked me thru the process. I selected the option to perform a full backup first before the upgrade started. The process takes about 15 - 30 minutes and there are a couple of BB reboots with LONG blank white screen pauses which scare you into thinking you should unplug the device. Don't, let it finish, be patient.

5.) Check the version after the upgrade
(Main screen - options - status). Mine say ver 4.5.0.77

6.) Install the Oxford app again!

Other notes:
Most of the folks over at Crackberry are fussing around with OS 4.5 rev .55. because rev .77 is newer and harder to find. Been there done that ... go big or go home! rev .77 is for real men!
