In My opinion Garmin And Sygic are both very good programms , propably garmin has slightly better coverage , but in main cities are exactly the same.The main problem of both application are the routing. and what i mean is that the maps are not correctly update for one ways streets etc. so when you plan a route the lead you ilegally from one way roads.
Install both of them you don't have anything to loose ,and you will choose what is better for you.
The only advantage of Garmin is that a greek company supports its maps , so they are prospectives for better maps in the future

At least the big greece map! I confirm that is working with sygic 7.52 in my UIQ3 G900 device AND with sygic 7.50 in my N82. I am sure that is working with 7.52 too. It is with greek characters and search is OK. It is detailed.

We thank kostad2000 and friend sorrow for the map It works well with Sygic 7.52 in N95 its detailed and has better zoom, also has a pointer above in the streets... it will be tryed in routing thanks.

There is no version 7.52.630 of Sygic for Symbian.
The latest versions are:
7.50.408 (409) - release version
7.50.514 - latest beta
all 7.5* versions are "build 0/630 D" and I think from here comes the confusion.
What you think is latest version 7.52.630 is the first beta of 19 march 2008 (319 version) in which somebody modified the settings.ini file and put 20 fps and memory high.

yes but different from 7.50.408 (409)

319 beta was the first Sygic that had the McGuider name/copyright info, etc.
You can look for the dates of the files (not the folders) which all are 19.03.2008 or older. World map (wcl) is from last year and not even in pak format.

My advice is not to mess with betas. I did a clean install of 7.50.409 and all regular "unexpected errors" have dissapeared.

I'm happy for you for the new map. I wish the romanian developer follows the Greek example.

Aristotelhs would be the expert on whether there is a latin map, but I kinda doubt it from what I've seen. However you can always upgrade the firmware of your phone and turn it to a Greek version. If you're Greek, it could be very useful (I use T9 to write SMS a lot).

Yes i am greek but i live in Italy. The group of languages that contains greek does not contain italian. I would like to have both the languages on my N95, I can not renounce to Italian.

Full version is for other OS to, like PPC, Windows Mobile, etc. This one is just for symbian without stuff that you don't need on your Nokia i presume.

as u understand if the map is more detailed then it uses more ram memory so it should be slow especially on mobiles with low ram memory.

I have a problem with activation. I installed it and then go to [Only registered and activated users can see links]
but when i put in the mobile the code that the site generates it tells me that the activation code is wrong.

After reading some threads i saw that you have to quit the programm and run it again and after doing so it accepted the code!!!

sadly this map is made from a Greek company and i guess it will be out only in Greeek.

as for the greek keyboard there are fixes on first post .read first before ask.

Unfortunately i also have problems with the greek language. After installing the programm does not recognise the greek letters and after installing the file from the first page i get an unexpected error when i try to open the programm.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! It worked!!! I think that E71 has a bug with the greek letters. This can be seen by people comments about difficulties searching for greek names in the catalog (this is why all my phonebook is with latin letters) and also in Garmin by the fact that you have to type with small letters and not with capitals because it does not recognise them.

You just quoted the way you should do it, you don't install it you turn on the app and you type the given code, if it is not accepted, turn of the app and try again.

Can your phone write Greek? i.e. Does it have a Greek firmware?

Of course. Others programs like garmin or navigon work whitout problem. There is a mcguide problem. And the point is that even if i chooce greek in the keybord setting tha result is the same. I'm only able to write latin chars or something strong chars but not greek.

Problem with greek solved.

The only parameter i changed is keybTypeAsk=true in file drive\Symbian\settings.ini. By default was false.

try a fresh restart and then try again. if i doesn't work again try to run it from a memory card which has only sygic installed.thats all i can think.

Happy new year everyone. I've been trying this map the last few days, and it works much much better than the old one, where the routing was horrible and it kept sending me the wrong way on one-way streets.
The routing is still worse than Garmin, but since it turns out that the latest version of Garmin 5.00.20 is too slow and is constantly about 100 meters behind, causing you to miss turns, I switched to Sygic and I'm quite pleased. It's no Destinator, but since the latter is not yet cracked for Symbian devices, it'll have to do for now.
My question is, have you tried the latest 2009 McGuider version with the Greek map? Is it any better than this one? I read about some bugs in the 2009 thread, so I'm reluctant to install it, in case it turns out buggy and lagging like Garmin.

Destinator 8 is now out for Symbian, but it costs 99€, and no one has cracked it yet....and also it seems they sell it with SD cards, and my N95 8GB doesn't have one. :(

... I attach below a bunch of working POIs for anyone interested. You have to copy the .upi files to the GRC folder of your maps, and the .bmp files to your Res\Icons folder.

first it works only with 7.199 version so you have to install this one. then install the contents of the file inside the maps folder (remove the .pak map, you dont use it with 7.199 version) :-(

With version 7.7 we can not type in Greek.

the fix is for 7.199 version as stated o first post.nothing new for 7.70 version.names are in english too so greek type has not any meaning too.

I have installed mcguider 7.7 in my e66 and i'm very pleased with it. I would like to try Sygic Drive also since i suppose that the map coverage is better. So, i have 2 questions :

Can i install also Sygic drive, or i must first completely uninstall mcguider from the device ?? ( Analytical steps needed please ).

In mcguider, the permissions function does not seems to work. ( Den douleuoun oi apofiges gia daktylio ennoo ). I Suppose that this problem comes from the map. Is there any newer version ? ( I Have Installed the version mentioned in the first post of this thread ).

You must uninstall McGuider. If you are greek, just use Sygic/Traffic GPS, it's the same, but much better coverage for the whole world.

I use sygic 7.7 (N82), but whenever I add custom pois, it seems it slows it down dramatically...Anyone has the same problem? Is there any way to fix this? What about the new version, why is the first post not updated?

The latest version seems more stable and a little faster. I think you should better put this in your frst post.

The map of Navigreece provided by kostad2000 is in different form (grc.pak) from the previous one compatible with 7.1, and it's compatible with 7.71

Despite the bigger size compared with the latest Teleatlas as many greek users say in myphone the map of Teleatlas seems to be a little better. Maybe because navigreece 01_2009 for 7.71 is still beta and we are expecting a newer edition soon.

I think the best choice for the time being is Sygic 7.71 4189D with Teleatlas 03_09


I haven't tested the navigreece 01_09 compatible with 7.1 so I'm not sure about this map.

the navigreece 2009-1 (sized 50mb or so) is not compatible with 7.71 for sure.

let me insist that the most detailed is the the navigreece 2009-1 even though beta as you referred. i dont mean for roads but also for adresses numbers.

I just installed it, after signing, version 7.71, but when I try to start it I get disk error.

Was i meant to copy a specific folder as well? I only ran the .sis file.

I would like to comment that Navigreece 01.2009 is not so accurate as TeleAtlas 03.2009 beacause sometimes has roads inside sea!! and not so many embeded POI's. On the other hand yes is much more detailed and faster! Any new version? Any other comments?

undercode can do that as he did for 2009.01 version. if you find him. i thought he did it already. i have to change the first post again. as for the mlm you dont have to change with the one in the map folder

This navigreece 02 is compatible ONLY WITH 7.199 as I describe it in the post. I will clarify it again it is NOT compatible with 7.71

I don't use this map because I use newer versions of sygic. But I gave the link because it was requested from a lot of greek users in myphone.

So let me say again it is not for 7.71, but only for 7.199

As for the convertion I don't think so there is a way of converting ourselves to .pak format. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure...

It's not just as simple as changing the file name. A lot of data have to be recompiled from CIT in order to apperar in the new versions like POI, lane info, signs etc.

The last time undercode hadn't done anything about the map... CIT had done all the work and a friend (kostad2000) gave us the map.

But don't be dissapointed. As I have heard navigreece 02 compatible with 7.71 editions has passed beta testing, and is expected soon...

So I'm waiting for the good news to come... I don't know when but I hope soon :)

if you mean the difference between the versions then as i say on fisrt post i leave them all as not all maps are compatible with all versions. of course the latest is the best.

As I understand it, McGuider is a spin-off of Sygic with only European maps in the card that they sell, so it is cheaper to buy. But essentially it is exactly the same program.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is with this... if your writing language is set in Greek, the names appear in Greek, and the search works perfectly, all in Greek, even from the first letter. If you have not input any letters, the list is in English, true, but this is not a Greek program. I will look into it, but I don't know if there is a "solution".

The other mlm file contains support for other countries as well, that's the main difference. If you use the Greek map, you don't need it.

About the speedcam, here are the latest files from poiplaza, just follow the instructions in the zip.

I have downloaded the keygen 7.71 AND i had put the mlm file in E:MAPS.
I got the code from the KG and had put in the licence file.
The activation then doen't work.
I got the error for "wrong activation code".

I'm using a Nokia 5800 and i didn't noticed any problem. Speed limit is displayed, zoom function works fine, translation is fine, skin is perfect for night and day view, routing is fine, you can select any program sound for pois, as for the map i'll try and see.

Speed limit with previous version of navigreece 09 wasn't displayed. It was a map bug. Not a software bug.

Zoom function was working fine, but it was doing too much zoom out during navigation. Now you can easily navigate and see the surrounding roads and we think this way is much better.

Routing has been changed mainly to Athens and Thes/nikh. If you live in Athens you will notice many changes to routing now. For example there was a major problem with with Attiki Odos, Syggrou, Kifissos etc.

As for the sounds I think it's better now to have the exact name of the poi or speedcam announced each time you have a warning.

I'll agree with you translation didn't have any major issues but some people wanted a little clearer and simpler translation for some things. For example "sxediasmos diadromhs" became "dromologhsh", "apomnhmoneush theshs" on the display screen after routing became "prosthiki sta agapimena" which is the right.

About the skin we really haven't made a final decision yet... It's all about personal taste. It's most likely we'll make a newer skin sometime. It's difficult to decide what color to choose... But I think the only issue with the default skin was that the categorizations of the roads were not easibly noticed.

Anyway thanks for the remarks, but I 'll have to say one more time that all these mods were not made only by me. It was a team work and there are definetly some things which maybe need improvment.

Installed everything over the "generic" Sygic, except the mlm file and the license. You were right about the speed limit indication, it wasn't showing. I saw the new sound files in the folder, that's great, will test it in action in a while.

I don't like the new colors at all so i replaced the "skin" subfolder with the original one but i lost the other modifications. The translation is at the "greek.lang" file but what about the zooming?

I think I have made a mistake and mixed up the skin that I wanted to upload. I'm really sorry but with all these different skins I got confused. For beginning do you like this as day skin?

Τhis map is for NDrive. Not for Sygic i think.

Are you sure the map is made from Teleatlas, is for Sygic and has release date 06_2009 ?

What's the problem? Did you try to make a clean install with these files and you couldn't? I bet no, you didn't... Just to know, private resourse sys folders ARE NOT NEEDED for clean install. Installing setupsymbian.sys creates these folders... So you can definetly make a clean install with this version. just try it... And if I delete favorites.upi when you do a clean install for first time, you won't have favorites... So favorites.upi should remain... Maybe you should tell me that I should warn somebody if he updates the app and wants to keep his favorites to backup this file. Yes this I forgot.


I have included all the maps because I consider this to be an "all in one pack". Yes, you can find all the maps seperate but most people DON'T KNOW know how to make the app to change between them directly from the menu. So everybody just used 1 map for Greece not 2... Now I show you the way HOW TO USE 2 DIFFERENT MAPS FOR THE SAME COUNTRY. And believe me in some cases this is very useful...



As for the colors I believe the day skin is MUCH BETTER from the default one... MUCH MUCH BETTER... But the night skin needs a lot of improvments... This is not the final night skin. We haven't really concluded yet. But it's all about personal taste. Still I believe and most people agree that day skin is better than the deafult one.


When I find the time I will make another version with the default colors. But because I can't satisfy everybody's taste if you are interested to make your own mods, join gpspocketpc.gr forum, and in the section of Sygic mobile you will find the thread with all the tools and the details how these things are done... So you can change everything exactly to your own needs...


Anyway I will also post another modded version with default colors when I find the time.

I don't see any difference

- Bigger fonts during navigation and browsing map.

fonts are slightly bigger on the map but not on the interface (arrival time, speedometer) etc

- Antialiasing disabled for better and quicker response during navigation.

thats true, no big difference in display except that the road names are harder to read but no gain in performance and gps accuracy.

- Better autozoom function.

I think that the zoom was better before, the application zooms in too much and as a result you can't see the name and the street that you need to turn until you are very close.

- Better translation in Greek for the menu.

Nothing changed, "emfanish diadromis" is still there, propably someone forgot to change greek.lang file

In the screenshots the changes for the autozoom and for the fonts are obvious. So yes this is the modded version. But as I told you if you don't like something you can always use the original version or make your own mods.


If someone else believes that autozoom is too close now, please let me know so that maybe in a future modded edition I will make it more suitable to your needs.

Obviously you mean mlm file,that can be found in the Maps folder,ex.Greece 09_2009.mlm-just browse through the keygen app to the Maps folder and the mlm file of the map you want to activate(in this thread its the greece mlm).

I dont know what is going on... i open the keygen and i get 1 space to write the ID. I write the ID that sygic gives me when i select the map. under this there are two spaces. one on the left that is written above it *.mlm and on the left that is written above it "from *.mlm". I put in the second one [GRC] and press the Calc button. I get then two codes one under the *.mlm and one under the all europe map.
I write the code in my sygic drive it says that the code is accepted (it says this no matter what i will write) and then nothing happens. I see no map, i go back to the maps, select them get a message that the trial period has finished and repeat the procedure again and again and nothing happens...

You should erase the license.txt which already was in the Maps folder because this is for a trial period,I suggest do a new clean install but erase the license.txt which is in the Maps folder initially and then follow the procedure and it will work surely.

i have another problem now that i used to have with the previous version as well. When i type in greek the letters that are common in greek and latin are displayed as latin... so i can not find anything. In the previous version i had activated the virtual keyboard to get around this, but now i can not find it anywhere. I think it is a problem specific for E71..

Ok.. i remembered finally that i had to edit the settings.ini file and activate the keyboard through there...

I tried it on nokia 5800 and im getting a message (card error).
