View Full Version : Alternate Hack by FCA00000! Works on N95 8GB, E90 and others without Python / AppTrk
toadpole 7th June 2008, 21:20 FCA00000 has done it again! Nokia thought they could get the better of us by blocking apptrk installation, but this hack makes it possible to hack all phones permanantly with no need for SignSis or Python!
I've tested this myself on N95 8GB and an E90 and it works flawlessly!
Firstly, download HelloCarbide.zip
Install HelloCarbide. Don't open it yet.
Download Caps On/ Off
preFP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.1 (Pre-FP1 Phones)
FP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.2 (FP1 Phones)
Once Downloaded, extract the contents of the archive to your phone but DO NOT OPEN!
1. Open your file browser, leave it open in the background.
2. Open HelloCarbide, select Options -> Menu1. You should get a message saying "done... probably". Select 'Yes'.
3. Open your file browser from the background. Navigate to where you extracted the Caps On/Off files and copy the file CProfDriver_SISX.ldd to C:\sys\bin
4. Restart your phone and install Caps On and Caps Off.
Now you'll have access to system directories whenever you select the application "Caps Off". To turn off system file access, open the application "Caps On".
To install files without signing or using SignSis, download these files:
installserver9.1.zip for SymbianOS 9.1 (Pre-FP1 Phones)
installserver9.2.zip for SymbianOS 9.2 (FP1 Phones)
1. Make sure you have system file access. If not, open the "Caps Off" application.
2. From the above archive, extract to your phone and copy installserver.exe to C:\sys\bin
You're done! Now you can install unsigned apps and apps with expired certificates without any signing nonsense. No more SymbianSigned, no more SignSis! Hope this helps...
Thank you FCA00000! :urtheman:

preFP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.1 (Pre-FP1 Phones)
FP1_CapsOnOff.rar for SymbianOS 9.2 (FP1 Phones)

Pintar 12th October 2008, 22:46 Not sure if this work. Install X-plore & HelloCarbide. Open X-plore (do not exit) then open Hellocabide. Press menu1 .. probably? click yes. Using your x-plore go to the sys folder that move to c:/data, cut it and paste back to C:/sys
If there is no possible way to restore it, you have to format your phone.

It'l be great if the reason to my above question's answer is given. i.e. if we can remove the hellocarbide app, then what is the reason for it? If we cant remove the hellocarbide app, then what is the reason for that?

buddy i think the Caps are on in your mobile that's y u dont find C:\sys\bin
use Caps Off (just press the selection key of the navigation D pad on the Caps Off Icon in the Applications folder of your phone) then open Xplore, you will find C:\sys\bin (If you have hacked your phone successfully). If you still are unable to find the location, then repeat the hacking process from the beginning.

abhinavsg 6th December 2008, 16:40 If i update my firmware on my phone, do i need to redo the whole process?
buddy, for sure you will have to repeat the whole process all over again but whether you can hack the new firmware, that depends on the phone & firmware version. So if you want correct info on this, indicate your Phone Model & firmware version you want to upgrade to

ljfkbv 7th December 2008, 02:58 buddy, for sure you will have to repeat the whole process all over again but whether you can hack the new firmware, that depends on the phone & firmware version. So if you want correct info on this, indicate your Phone Model & firmware version you want to upgrade to
cheers.
I have a n95 8gb v3. If there's an upgrade, do i still need to do this hack again?

Well buddy, after upgrading firmware on N95 8GB you have to re-do the hack process all over again. Also you can hack the latest v30 firmware of N95 8GB.
cheers.

allew 15th December 2008, 05:07 I just did it on my E66 and it allowed me to install webgate advanced device locks.
Now my question is, if i uninstall the files (capson, capsoff and hellocarbide), will the installed programs keep running properly?
Thanks :-)

yes you can uninstall them & everything will be fine, but uninstalling capson & capsoff will mean that you will not be able to switch between the Caps on & Caps off modes.
Pintar 15th December 2008, 09:31 To make it more simpler used SecMan of BiNPDA for CAPS ON/OFF. I prefer using the SecMan.exe SecMan.sis is not working for me. :)
akhter_ji 8th January 2009, 10:30 I want to access N958GB PRIVATE folder , i Successfully installed X-plore v1.22 Valid until 31-12-2039 version...

damaster 8th January 2009, 14:11 I have a couple of questions here,,, i tried BINDAS hack way and it didnt work,, cz wen i wana install the trk app to my phone it tells me built in component,, i have new firmware 30.0.018 .. does this hack way work on new firmware for my 95 8GB and one more qeustion the caps on/off app allows u to enter system files ?? plz reply thanks in advance
NHaGa 8th January 2009, 14:25 Sorry man, I think you're screwed... There's no way to hack the new firmwares yet. Either try to downgrade your firmware or wait for an alternative hack.
EDIT: actually, I'm not sure if that version is hackable or not. I thought you were talking about the last versions for the N95.
damaster 8th January 2009, 15:12 why is there latest than V30 ?? and btw whats the use of hacking if u can jst sign ur applications??

Is your phone hacked?
What about providing details such as FW version?
If your phone is already hacked, you should make sure that the following options in X-plore have a checkmark:
Menu > Tools > Configuration:
Show Hidden files
Show system files/folders
@damaster and NHaGa
That's the latest for N95 8GB and it is not hackable yet.
Just keep on checking the forum for updates.

pool7 8th January 2009, 20:52 If you can see the contents of both Private and Sys\Bin folders, then most likely you can remove the files (just highlight the file you want to remove and press the C button on the phone or go to Menu > File > Delete).
If it works, then your phone is successfully and completely hacked.
If you can't delete the files, then your phone is partially hacked (kind of like read-only access to these system folders).
:goodluck:

akhter_ji 8th January 2009, 22:44 thnkz again
now i successfully del HelloCarbide ,, Caps On and Caps Off .....
but cant del { CProfDriver_SISX.ldd }...
X-plore are not giving del option for this file and also after del caps on and off i am not able to see private and system files
thnkz
pool7 8th January 2009, 22:56 I guess it can't be deleted easily since it's kind of a driver, so it's probably running in the background.
You may want to use Best Taskman, Handy Taskman, JBak Taskman or any other similar software and see if the file runs as a process and if you can kill it. Else you can try turning on your phone in Safe Mode (I'm not sure this works for S60v3 phones; it's a trick that was used on S60v2):
1-Turn Off the phone.
2-Hold pressed the Pencil/ABC Key while turning on the phone until it's fully loaded.
Then try again to delete that file.
If you delete Caps On/Off, you won't be able to turn off the Platform Security, so you won't be able to see the contents of the Private and Sys\bin folders.
If you want to keep the ability to see these folder's contents, then either keep Caps On/Off, or install BiNPDA SecMan 1.1:

Putting caps off will show you system files.
