Program crashes and exits ... :suicide:
If I cancel the basemap (or use the previous one) then the program works again normally.

Has anybody tested this Worldmap with Mobile XT 4.10.80 (N95)?

this has nothing to do with the map.be sure for that.other people that have no problem confirm please.

Scoiattolo
10th June 2008, 16:04
I confirm that in my case it has to do with this map.
With the previous routable basemap it's working perfectly. Just when I insert this one it crashes... even if I give the map another name (like GMAPPROM.IMG or GMAPSUP2.IMG).

Which Garmin Mobile version are you using?

aristotelhs2060
10th June 2008, 16:16
something that proves that it works.if you format your mobile phone and delete whole garmin folder and app from mmc and then install garmin folder and sis of previous version then install new version sis.open it you will see wrong characters .close it.place garmin folder of new version .then place this basemap.u will see that it works.

in other words this has to do with some files remaining from previous version and whatever. cant really explain it.if you try on garminpc mobile you will see that it works too.

Scoiattolo
10th June 2008, 16:33
Mmm.. I did a fresh install of the 4.10.80 version recently (I had to format my phone).
So no files remaining from previous versions. Maybe another reason...

aristotelhs2060
10th June 2008, 17:21
you may be right.it may not work due to its size.its too big to be used from a mobiles' ram memory.it works perfect on garminpcmobile anyway

10th June 2008, 17:33
I have the exact same experiences on my N95 8GB. Garmin crashes and exits. I guess you are right in the assumption that it's all about the size, as it is 4x the size of the previous version.

Scoiattolo
10th June 2008, 17:44
Not sure it's the size itself the problem. I have a much bigger (in size) maps and they work perfectly. Even if this map is renamed as another map (so not as a basemap), it crashes.
I believe that the reason for incompatibility must be another...

if everybody claims and confirms that there's something wrong with the map,we'd better think and do sth about it
not everybody wants to format their phone for a map, right?
but on the whole, i appreciate your effort and intention mate.good luck:thanks:

yeah,ur right.
ur ram,i guess, is about 8gb;therefore,you won't have any prob, but with some 9.1 version, they'll definitely get themselves into the trouble friend.

aristotelhs2060please do you have orginal Mapsource version of this map?

Garmin Mapsource Worldmap 4.06

MapSource makes it easy to enhance the basemap of your compatible GPS unit. WorldMap provides basic worldwide map detail that includes political boundaries, cities, towns, major motorways, railroads, highways, lakes, rivers and coastline detail. MapSource WorldMap is generally recommended only if no other detailed maps are available for the area of interest. You can also use MapSource to create routes and waypoints on your PC and transfer them to your GPS.

Price around 77 euros

i installed it to my htc diamond with garmin xt,, works fine..a bit slower than the tiny base map...but guess its the size matter...but its quiet more explained and more routes available than the previous base map which was arround 11 Mb only....
