View Full Version : Need games for the Samsung f490
loreleiuk04 21st June 2008, 01:30 Hiya,
Just got this new phone. It's a touch screen and called Samsung F490, an upgrade of the Samsung Tocco (f480).
If anyone knows where I can get games suitable for this phone I will lvoe you forever.
I tried the Prada phone because that was also touch screen, I copied the .jar files to 'other folders' and unplugged the phone from the USB. When I went to the folder on the phone there was nothing there.
Any help would be appriciated.
Митяй 3rd July 2008, 02:29 I will create soon a thread with games for this model. Notice me a week or two later please :)
By the way, Samsung phones can't install Java from PC, only downloading via integrated WAP browser
e1bek 10th July 2008, 16:23 Integrated WAP browser doesn't allow me to install anything and for the reason he says - wrong content or something similar.
Any ideas?
Via bluetooth also nothing.
Митяй 10th July 2008, 19:53 Where are you trying to download from?
e1bek 11th July 2008, 02:18 From my own ftp with direct url to jar or jad file.
From different website and thru wap push.
Still nothing. All the time handset complain that content is unknown or content not supported.
Same story with P520 armani.
Митяй 11th July 2008, 08:19 Strange. Need to ask forums for the solve of this problem. As I know, on F480 for example you need to enable Java options via service menu.. Maybe here is something similar?
e1bek 11th July 2008, 09:31 What is the code for service menu?
Митяй 11th July 2008, 10:56 For F480 it is *#6984125*# -> Admin menu -> Internals -> enter pass *#9072641*# -> Storage Settings -> Update Java DB
e1bek 11th July 2008, 11:14 Code is working, but still no progress.
During jad download attempt I've got "content not supported" and then "notifying"
During jar download attempt I've got "content not supported" and nothing else.
Any other ideas?
Handset is branded by Vodafone.
Митяй 11th July 2008, 12:02 Do you know russian lang?
e1bek 11th July 2008, 12:18 I'm from Poland, but I don't know Russian :-)
I know only few words... мое друг
But I could try to translate some Russian text.
Митяй 11th July 2008, 12:46 Okay so learn this topic http://forum.sgh.ru/topic34025s0.html?p=372516&#entry372516 and try to unerstand what is written there. I think that this info will help you to solve problems, you will be able to install Java to your phone directly from computer (via USB cable)
e1bek 11th July 2008, 15:33 Thanks for url.
I have another issue after click in Filesystem at BtPim.
Handset freez and show some data:

Any other ideas /methods how to install java applications on this crap? ;-)
Митяй 11th July 2008, 16:08 I try to learn out what is the problem
e1bek 11th July 2008, 22:35 I still trying to connect F480 with PC.
BitPim log looks like this now:
20:28:36.171 COM17: USB support is not available
20:28:36.171 COM17: Opening port COM17, 115200 baud, timeout 9.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0
20:28:36.187 COM17: Open of comm port suceeded
20:28:46.187 Other CDMA Phone: Listing subdirs in dir: ''
20:28:55.187 COM17: Timed out - flushing and trying again
20:29:04.203 COM17: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read
20:29:13.203 COM17: Timed out - flushing and trying again
Seems that even handset is plugged in to PC via USB cable, BitPim still complain that
USB is not supported. Next COM port is opened.
Till now I checked in BitPim different settings with F480:
1. Other CDMA phone
2. Different type of driver - Qualcomm and Samsung
Qualcomm driver makes handset freez and raport in log:
19:41:04.171 COM24: USB support is not available
19:41:04.171 COM24: Opening port COM24, 115200 baud, timeout 99.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0
19:41:04.187 COM24: Open of comm port suceeded
19:41:30.842 Other CDMA Phone: Listing subdirs in dir: ''
19:41:30.858 Other CDMA Phone: Now in brew mode
19:43:10.078 COM24: Timed out - flushing and trying again
Obviously BitPim don't recognize F480 or "Other CDMA phone" at all.
I look forward for some forum support/ help.

Try using the program called TkFileExplorer aka JavaInstall
that is available on that site, i had same problems with my F700
but can now install java games and apps with the file above :)

I think Im being a complete dumbass, but a) I cant get BitPim to work and b) Im looking at that TkFileExplorer app and can only see the computer drives - how do I view and add the .jar/jad files to the phone?
Also, its mentioning something about a port number - any ideas?
Oh, and Ive got the Samsung Tocco (F480)
Nice one in advance
Митяй 25th September 2008, 15:39 What about setting port - check it in the Samsung CDMA Modem properties in the devices manager of Windows

You need both jar and jad. Jad is just simple text file where you have to add few important things as jar size etc.
Ask google for jadmaker.

I have F700 as well, and it's also from Vodafone, but on F700 I didn't encounter any problems with java apps.

Since I've got some troubles with F490 I gived up and give a try number of firmwares. One didn't allow to install java apps, the other one haven't anything against it.
I talked with Samsung Poland about that issue and officially they says that almost or even all Samsung handsets on marked might have java applications downloading locked up. Only way to get java app is via Samsung website and they'll charge user fot that.
In my opinion try to find different firmware on your tocco or if bitpim will work then check that too. With bitpim my device was frozen, but it doesn't mean that this solution is wrong.
Митяй 27th September 2008, 01:21 Why don't you use TkFileExplorer guys ?
cheggers33 28th September 2008, 22:00 Why don't you use TkFileExplorer guys ?
I have installed it on my phone (F480) but it doesnt seem to do anything apart from when I click on one of the folders displayed, the symbol changes but nothing happens.
On a side note, I have no clue how to connect to BitPim so cant really explore this avenue enough - anyone got any tips or breakthroughs on getting some damn apps on this phone?:suicide:

mbze430 29th December 2008, 08:11 I know this is for the F490..
but I have a SGH-A707 here. I am able to access the SAME menu. However the MASTER Code didn't work.
Is there another Master Code for the A707?
z3wl 29th December 2008, 11:27 Try these:
Admin Pass: *#6984125*#
Internal Pass (Master Key): *#9072641*#
Pre-configuration (Operator code): *#73561*#
Vodafone Firmware Codes:
Admin Pass: *#3695147*#
Internal Pass (Master Key): *#3971258*#
Pre-configuration (Operator code): *#83301*#
mbze430 30th December 2008, 10:14 Try these:
Admin Pass: *#6984125*#
Internal Pass (Master Key): *#9072641*#
