Speed Cam 2.0.1

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6764/speedcam0gq2.jpg

This Python application provides a speed camera warning program for the Nokia N95 phone and other suitable Symbian Series 60 3rd ed phones. It is designed to operate in the background (e.g. whilst using Nokia Maps or in standby) and popup to the foreground with an audio visual alert, then return to the background.

Due to the restrictions imposed by Symbian Signed, the installation process is a bit tedious.

A suitable speed camera data file is required. A dummy file speedcam.txt is provided to illustrate the required format of the file. For the UK, a good source of up to date files is available at Pocket GPS World - an annual subscription is required to obtain the relevant file (pocketgps_uk_sc.csv).

An old pocketgps_uk_sc.csv file that can be used to try out the application is available free in the downloads section.

This application has only been tested on an N95-1 running V21 firmware using both the internal GPS and an external BlueTooth GPS, but should work with other Series 60 3ed phones that support Location Based Services.

What's new in this release:
· Overlay height slightly reduced

Requirements:

· Symbian S60 3rd Edition
· Python for S60

Download : PoiEdit (hxxp://www.poiedit.com/.)

Open the *.ov2 file and use the SaveAs function to save it as .csv (ASCII).

The exported text will look like this:
12.63172, 56.20781, "K112E02@90"
12.63549, 56.20849, "K112W03@90"
12.63571, 56.11221, "K111S01@90"
12.63694, 56.11166, "K111N02@90"
...

Import the file to excel and convert the text to columns(seperate by ',').

Change the column containing text to 'GATSO@[SPEED]'.
Example 'GATSO@90'

Save the file as .cvs format.

Open the text in wordpad and rename the ';' to ','.

Now it looks like this:
12.63172,56.20781,GATSO@90
12.63549,56.20849,GATSO@90
12.63571,56.11221,GATSO@90
...

Rename your .csv file to speedcam.txt.

Put the speedcam.txt in the 'SpeedCam' folder on your phone and start your application.

That's it.
