Hi,
I had windows xp sp2 working fine.
Suddeny one day it showed "NTLDR is missing" while startup.
I reinstalled XP, worked ok for about a week.
Then agian one day, just after startup it showed something like "Memory error - Physical Dump". ( with OK button ). PC continued to work ok while it was on.
And when I restarted it showed again "NTLDLR is missing".

I reinstalled XP, but again after a week, same thing happened.
It is happening again and again. (working ok for sometime)

is it due to
(a) some faulty RAM or HD ?
(b) virus of some kind ?
(c) some other issue ?

PC config:
Intel P-4, 3.00 ghz, 80 GB ram ( 4 partitions of 20 gb ), 256 mb RAM.

Pls help.

Thanks for your cooperation.
Regards,

i suspect your hdd is about to crash.

or at least try a different installer.

Could be that your HardDisk has some Bad Sectors.

IMO, replace your HD with a new one. it should solve your probs ;)

Computer is booting from a non-bootable source.
Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS.
Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file.
New hard disk drive being added.
Corrupt boot sector / master boot record.
Seriously corrupted version of Windows XP.
Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.
Solution:
Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

OR

Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
type: fixmbr then press Enter
fixboot then press Enter
Restart your PC :weedman:
