I want to buy this computer
Aspire M1641-218L / Intel® Pentium® Dual Core E2180 (2.0GHz / 1MB Cache / 800MHz FSB) / Linux OS / NVIDIA® nForce® 620i Chipset / 512MB DDR2 / 160GB SATA2 HDD / DVD SuperMultiplus Writer / 40-in-1 Card Reader
What is Linux OS like? I heard from ppl this computer doens't come with window xp/vista .. need to install by yourself?
If have to install, how can i do that?
If you want to use ONLY Windows OS, it's simple: have an XP/Vista kit, make him bootable on CD and start installation (boot form THAT CD).
If you want to use Linux AND install also Windows, it's a bit complicated...
So it's up to you :weedman:
In the meantime (until you make up your mind), you can read some interesting oppinions here: http://constc.blogspot.com/2007/10/linux-preinstalled-on-acer-laptops-scam.html
In the end of the page you'll find a link http://soulpass.com/2007/11/10/installing-windows-xp-professional-sp2-on-acer-aspire-5315-2153-laptop/ which enlighten you up on what you have to do if you want to install XP...
Alex Wells wrote it SO GOOD and spare my effort to put it on this page :roflmao:
Linux is the counterpart of Windows.
Both are Operating System. Its just Linux is free and Windows is not.
If you want Windows (either XP or Vista) you have to purchase it. The store where you buy your laptop will not install a "pirated" windows. If you bought a PC and bundled with Windows, it is already installed but in your case which is not thats why only Linux OS ;)

The model that i described is a desktop pc .. not laptop :LoL:

Of course you can install XP with or without Linux.
You can use both but its complicated especially if you dont have experience.
To install XP, just buy or download an installation disk, burn it to CD then boot from it. Then the rest will be easy.
Good luck

ofcourse you can install windows
there is only one thing;
you never know what drivers are needed
if the pc is designed for linux it MIGHT be not all hardware is supported by windows
there is only one way to find out
try it
if you want keep linux too;
buy a 2th harddisk and install windows w the aid of a third party bootmanager

after installing linux if u install xp it will change the MBR and it will make to boot only to xp, so first install xp and then linux, then you will get a selection to go with...
