lamboman 5th July 2008, 21:36 As I drive a Truck all over the U.K. and sometimes into Europe I use my Tomtom 500 all day every day and so I needed the most upto date maps and software. Thanks to TTUSER and others I have updated my Tomtom 500 and a friends 700 and 910 to the 8.0 version with no problems. All features are working on the 910 including TTS, ASR, IQ, Lane guidance and even his FM modulator and RDC-TMC antenna. On my 500 and the 700 all features (except the ASR which is a bit temperamental and so not installed) are working.
For those that are having problems knowing which files for the 8.0 update to install into there 500/700/910/510,and 710, I have uploaded copies of these working Tomtoms files, less maps to rapidshare. These files are around 100 mb to 200 mb in size and so should not take to long to download.
For the Tomtom 500/700 and 300. version 8.010 download this file
http://rapidshare.com/files/159779817/300.500.700.rar
For the Tomtom 910, 510,710 versions 8.011 download this file
http://rapidshare.com/files/148697111/tomtom_910.rar
.................................................. ................................................
Just backup your original files, Format your tomtom and add the above files for your device plus the 8.10 maps of your choice and activate with the easytool from here

Hope this clears this subject up for some people.
cnc1 12th July 2008, 16:41 Hi Guy's Don't forget to copy your original bif file before you patch map because
the files are for posters device
lamboman 12th July 2008, 17:06 thanks cnc1
my mistake I forgot to remove my bif file from listing. If you start your Tomtom after installing files, but before installing maps, you will get a message "no map found" and your Tomtom should install a new bif file if you forget to copy your own.
cnc1 12th July 2008, 18:04 Hi just to say great post i have used it to update a friends 500 and it works perfectly can you tell me did ASR icons load only i tried it the icons work but are grayed in the middle just trying to understand how it works any info would be great
lamboman 12th July 2008, 19:33 Hi cnc1
I had the same problem with the ASR. Also the tomtom froze on a couple of occasions and so I removed it from mine. Plus I think its more trouble than its worth, halve the time it gets the place names and streets wrong.
lamboman 12th July 2008, 19:57 Now here is a copy of my Tomtom one LE new edition fully working with TTUSERs version 8.011.9373 files.
http://rapidshare.com/files/136545524/TT_one.rar
This includes all files needed plus the Loquendo TTS folder and switch files. Just add the map folder you wish to your SD card and the voice file you need to the Loquendo TTS folder from here.
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=170022&highlight=Full+LoquendoTTS+Folder
Then activate with the easytool from here

Many thanks to TTUSER and Russell1
dodgysteve 13th July 2008, 21:52 Now then m8, just a quicky.

dodgysteve 13th July 2008, 23:07 I've just tryed ASR on my tomtom 500 and i'm gutted i've found some thing that dunt work on it. All it does is freeze and resets.
davy1shoe 14th July 2008, 01:11 Wots AsR?
I have a 700 so is it any us to me.
lamboman 14th July 2008, 02:02 speech recognition. You must still use the "navigate to button" but then you have a choice to use voice recognition instead of typing in a town and street address. It seems to work well on at least the *10 series, but not to well on the *00 series, and tends to freeze the tomtom sometimes.

lamboman 27th July 2008, 23:52 seems rapidshare site is temporarily down. You will need the files from page #6 for your tomtom one XL
hobgoblin 2nd August 2008, 17:25 LOMBOMAN just to say thankyou, you have saved me hours.all works perfect on my go 910.
Cheers.
lamboman 2nd August 2008, 19:17 Glad I could help you and others hobgoblin. Luckily half of the drivers in our fleet have there own Tomtoms (upto 910s) now. So I get plenty to practise on, as they all ask me to update them to the latest maps. Hopefully some will soon buy the newer x20/x30 versions and I can have more information to post here.
MasamiH 3rd August 2008, 10:14 Thank you. It works in my old 500!!!

hpkrazy 4th August 2008, 17:52 hi
i'm new to the forum and new to putting new maps. I found the forum helpful, i downloaded the 8.011.9373 update and the version 8.05 UK and ROI map. I also downloaded the easy tools.
From their i don't know where to put which files. I need a complete full proof idiot guide please.
Thanx in Advance.
hobgoblin 4th August 2008, 23:56 Lamboman have you managed to get tomtom home to work with your setup?

hi
does your remote control also work ? on my device (GO 910) it stop working after installing this 8.011 vers. Does anyone have same problem ?
Rakkerjoep 6th August 2008, 10:46 Lamboman,
Thank you very much!!!!
I was trying to get RDS-TMC working on my 910 with navcore8, but with no luck.
Now however everything is working perfect !!!!!!!
Thanks again !
:excited::dance::egdance::urtheman::partyman:
Update : Now RDS/TMC works even better with this navcore then it did with navcore 6 or 7 !!! Great !!
inonefly 6th August 2008, 14:34 hi lamboman, thanks a lot for sharing the files. I 've downloaded ur 910 file and now everything is working perfectly. just wondering how you get the tomtomhome to work with it? thanks in advance :)
hobgoblin 8th August 2008, 13:33 seltsimees. My remote control does not work with 910 but thats ok with me as i do not use it, maybe someone has a fix? everything else working flawlessly even tomtom home works after patching dll.
brodev 9th August 2008, 03:08 I have done this on my TTgo710. I have used western and central europe maps. I get the message this map does not function on this device
lamboman 10th August 2008, 03:52 hi seltsimees,
You will need a remote from a tomtom 720 as the version 8 software only works with bluetooth remotes and not the older IR remotes as originaly used by x00 and x10 tomtoms.
hpkrazy,
just put all the files on your formated SD card. Next add the UK map. Now add the device id. Which should start with AK****** using all capitals with no spaces into the notebook file called device id in the easytool folder and save changes. Next click on the file runmeforallautomatic select option 1 and hit enter next add your drive letter for your tomtom device, hit enter and your map should be activated.
Best of luck
seltsimees 11th August 2008, 16:30 next bug on GO 910 with navcore 8. OK remote c. dont work - that is clear for me now but there is very bad bug what i have mentioned. When you drive on streets what are not listed in map then the device crashes. If the streets are ok then go 910 also works perfect but offroute - and you will get reboot. I m thinking to go back on 7 navcore to get avoid this kind of surprises.
sthe69 20th August 2008, 19:57 thank you for navcore 8,011 it works perfectly on my tomtom go 500
but with the bootloader v5.5012 which I give you the links can no longer have the bugs demarrage and I recommend you put on your tomtom

MasamiH 24th August 2008, 16:58 My tts doesn't work. I've to patch the map again?
Spitfirer 27th August 2008, 11:44 Lamboman, thanks for all of your help!
I downloaded your files and put them on my 510 and everything seems to work great. The ASR is "greyed out" but, I don't care. I was wondering if IQ works on yours and how would I find it or know I have it? I have v7 maps do I need v8 maps for this to work?
Also, is there a patch file to download that allows to you use TTHome in "operate your TT?"
What if any would there be to the bootloader mentioned above?
Thank you very much!
This would be a good setup for this forum if the Mods would make "stickies" of a complete set of files for each version, then everyone would know where to look for the latest mods for their own TT.
This would cut down on a lot of the questions of how do I do it or where do I put it?
Just a humble suggestion.
Thank you all

Spitfirer... either need support_asr.dat in ASR folder or you have non-ASR map ( look for cspeech files in map folder ).
usually one or the other causes grey buttons.
missed what navcore you got but if you do search for navcore x.xxx dll, it'll show.
will go back and look...if it's mentioned, I'll edit & post a link.
if v8.010 or 8.011 navcore, look here
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2087076&postcount=53
if v8.002 look here,

see reference to patched home.dll
The 'all-in-one" you suggest is already in the pipeline...watch this space.
Nice to know ur clever, ain't it...( they say Great minds think alike! )
all the best, m8
lamboman 28th August 2008, 00:24 Hi Spitfirer,
I can answer your questions in order
1. Yes you will need version 8.05 maps for lane guidence to work. plus on some devices for it to work first you will need to turn it off, and then back on again (but only once).
2. yDdraigGoch's first link will give you the file to patch tomtom home.
3. The 5.5012 bootloader will enable you to use sdhc cards plus fix some small bugs.
Also I don't think ASR works with version 7 maps, but I could be wrong.
yDdraigGoch do you know.
:ilove:
yDdraigGoch 28th August 2008, 00:35 with SE navcore 7221 up, methinks.
Reckon that the first SE version I fitted and recall it had ASR enabled map fitted at same time.
got the old backup so can check. yep, got an ASR folder in there
ASR works with v7 maps since v705, providing map was enabled for it
just went back n read....lambo is correct about ALG (lane guide) but Spitfirer also asked for IQ route info....how to know has it.
IQR = Planning Prefs, should be a button, bottom left, to enter screen where u can enable/disable it. Also, when navigate to & calc route, will say IQ enabled/disabled, bottom midle of screen.
ALG = Change Prefs, Show Lane Images & test = pick a junction on a motorway. and using prepare route, plot point either side of it then run demo.
Pix or arrows in bottom left = worx.
regards all

Spitfirer 28th August 2008, 01:23 Thank you all for your excellent information!
When I tried to install the new bootloader to the root of the TT, it copied the file replacing the existing file but, on the screen it still shows Boot 4.8600???
Did I do something wrong??
Thank you again!
MasamiH 28th August 2008, 08:08 Hey guys... there's no way to see loquendo working on my 500???
hobgoblin 6th October 2008, 20:08 Hi Lamboman
Have you found any new updates for our go series recently?
I have been using my go 910 with your software from your first post while travelling around the uk and it has worked without any problems, very pleased.
Regards hobgoblin.
LesMiserable 7th October 2008, 02:52 Thanks updated my TT500
pstrokataran 8th October 2008, 04:13 Hi lamboman
what can I say - you are a legend! :urtheman:
Everything works well on my Go 500. I installed all files and added an Australian map to it and - bingo. I couldn't believe it.
Well done and thank you for all your help.:thanks:
stuartr 8th October 2008, 13:22 Hi lamboman
what can I say - you are a legend! thanks:
I totally agree with you pstrokatran..............lamboman is the Dogs Dangly Bits. My 500 now runs that latest UK maps v 8.10 without any problems.:thanks:
hobgoblin 15th October 2008, 20:29 yep v810 maps installed & all ok.:thanks:
lamboman 20th October 2008, 00:59 Glad to hear all is working for everybody. Also I have managed to get the 8.201 software to work on the 500 with loquendo TTS voices, and I have tested it for over 3000 miles with no problems yet. Exept for U.K. residents please note that I have not been able to get the postal codes to work,(the unit freezes when trying to navigate to a postcode) but it should be OK for all other countries. I am using the Western and Central Europe 8.10 map with this software and the IQ and lane guidance works perfect, even fitting the 500 screen correctly.
So if you don't need U.K. postcodes or can live without them for the moment until a fix is found, then the complete files are here
http://rapidshare.com/files/155624258/tt500_8-2.rar
just copy and post to your SD card and activate your map (unless already activated previously and saved).
This should also work with the Tomtom 700/300/510/710, but I would recommend backing up all your data before trying.
I have not tried the 910, but have heared that it is not compatible yet.
Best of luck Steve

hobgoblin 21st October 2008, 23:34 Hi all.
Just updated tomtom home from 2.3 to 2.4 and all works ok.2.3 was patched so that v8 maps could be recognized, tomtom home 2.4 shows all maps without another patch.
My go 910 is running navcore 8.011 from the Lamboman software at post 1.
What i did notice with 2.3 was that it stopped updating the gps quickfix and 2.4 is the same? but i am not concerned as my go 910 picks up satallites almost instantly.
Regards hobgoblin.:D
ps; just to confirm that navcore 8.2 does NOT run on the go 910 yet! It freezes on the startup and is a pig to recover.
ftp666 22nd October 2008, 18:37 Works like a charm on my GO 500! no fuzz
THANKS!
yDdraigGoch 22nd October 2008, 22:33 Runs on my 710 & 910....didn't change much, no major improvement for older devices except 'pretty icons'....Woooo!
Needless to say, I binned it, back to 8010.
billymm 26th October 2008, 09:13 The 5.5012 bootloader will enable you to use sdhc cards plus fix some small bugs.
great post & very helpful lamboman
I was just wondering is updating a bootloader on a x10 the same as a x20?
Ive got a 720 & have successfully updated both the navecore & BL (bootloader). I was trying to update a mates 910, the navecore & maps were successful but the BL was not.
I copied the 5.5.022 system file to the root of a 910 & after a reboot & a bit of fiddlying (by the TT) nothing seemed to have changed - in the info it still reads "Boot 5.0500"
Have others changed their bootloaders on a 910 - it might sound a silly question but for those who did how did they do it?
Thanx in advance,
billy
Alex20047 26th October 2008, 11:28 Have others changed their bootloaders on a 910 -
Personaly I - not.
Don't see any reason to do it, as my TT910 doesn't have SD slot.
May be yours have? ;)
yDdraigGoch 26th October 2008, 12:16 I copied the 5.5.022 system file to the root of a 910 & after a reboot & a bit of fiddlying (by the TT) nothing seemed to have changed - in the info it still reads "Boot 5.0500"
Providing the file you extract from the 5.5022 d/l rar file is called system...
...placing this on the root of your 910 and restarting should force the upgrade to occur.
You should see the Please Wait..Bitte Warten..etc.. screen image as it loads.
If it is called system1, system55022 or other...
...it need renaming to system (no extension, just system ).
As mentioned above, one of the big improvements in this Boot verson is large SDHC support.
There are a few minor changes that may or may not improve performance of your device.
I stll have 5.5012 on 910 and am quite happy, but my 710 has 5.5022 in case I lob in a big SDHC.
Alex20047 26th October 2008, 14:32 yDG
Just two question to you.
1. Do you see any difference between b/l 4.86 (which continue to be official b/l for 910) and 5.5012 at TT910 ?
2. It seems to me, that you are the only person who manages to run 8.201 at 910. Could you describe how you achieve it?
yDdraigGoch 26th October 2008, 16:04 2. It seems to me, that you are the only person who manages to run 8.201 at 910. Could you describe how you achieve it?
edit3: 1. So long ago that I upped to v5.5010 & 012, I can hardly remember v4.86 Boot.
Don't think it has made any difference, as Boot is device support rather than system operation.
Several members have expressed no desire to change as 910 works perfectly well with 4.86.
2. Well, RUN is a deceptive word.
My 910 started & let me navigate.
Running v810 UKIE map for testing navcore against my 710 on SE_8.051.
Cannot recall TTS (Comp Voice ), ALG or ASR performance as I ditched it soon after testing - unimpressed!.
To answer your Q tho'...
Copied to 910, started Device, Worked. Nothing special to do.
Perhaps I have an early version & modded/later release have somehow gone south...
..ie..no longer working on x10 series or 910 specifically? No idea?
If I find a few mins I'll d/l the latest and try it but got to say, not high on my priorities....it sucked, IMHO!
yDG
edit1: aww heck...in advance of critics/comments...I'm on it now.
edit2: up n running, screenie from Home emu...
...aside from voice selection & menu icons, quite unremarkable for x10.
Alex20047 26th October 2008, 20:16 yDG
Thank you for the answer.
Practically I wasn’t doubt that it is impossible to remember difference with 4.86 (at least I would not remember  ). I continue to use this old bootloader, but try to push myself to change, so looking for arguments for it ;)
You description on 8.2 at 910 is also important.
Now we need to find what is the difference between older and newer releases of 910 :ilove:
yDG,
One more question. Could you check the "birthday" of your 910. For my it is 26-04-2006.
I found it in the folder TomTom-Cfg ( from my TT backup) in the file birthday.txt.
mickyg47 30th October 2008, 20:07 got a question dose not really matter but just wondered why if i turn on my go700 with 8011 software on and go into change preferences there are 8 pages of menu but when i do it through tomtom home it will only show 3 any reason why
pstrokataran 31st October 2008, 01:19 Hey guys... there's no way to see loquendo working on my 500???
I have it working on my tt 500.
MapperMan 17th November 2008, 15:46 Hi all,
Thanks for all the great posts, so helpful and hope one day (once I have this mastered) I can help others.
I have managed to update my GO710 to 7.9 Navcore (with cracked ttsystem) and it works fine except for one issue. The Favourites, Home location and Recent destinations are missing and I am wondering about the config too??
I have copied the mapsettings.cfg across but is not working like the previous upgrade.
How can I ensure I get my favourites and settings copied across??
Where are these stored.

Hello, I have done what you say to do here, i have loaded your files on my clean 910 (no maps yet) & when I look at the version, it says for a go, xl, one & rider, version 7.162?
now if i try to upgrade from home, it wants to put on the 7.9 i already had?
am i to allow home to upgrade or where did i go wrong?
thanks
steve
lamboman 4th January 2009, 03:32 Just ignore TThome and untick this update. Don't let it update to the 7.9 navcore or you will have to start all over again as the 7.9 version from TThome is not patched. You could try updating to the newer 8.3 or 8.24 versions from here.
http://rapidshare.com/files/168732191/8.30.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/164486474/nav8.24.rar
as both will work on your TT910. You will still get an error message from TThome, but it will still update normally.
steve100 4th January 2009, 04:16 Thanks lamboman, I did try the 8300 and it all loaded fine but would freeze. I've tried the dll file in tthome for the 8011 & also added the version.txt in the tt910 but still wants me to update to the 7900.
Do I really need to update anything from TThome? If not, I guess I'm okay with the 8011 version right.
steve
audi70 4th January 2009, 04:32 Please can u tell me which is the best firmware for tomtom GO 700 now?
Which is the exact number of the maps going with?
Thanks in advance
lamboman 4th January 2009, 23:27 Hi steve100
The above patched navcores 8.3 and 8.24 has been modified to fix the freezing problem. You can backup your current navcore setup, reuse your current map so there is no need to activate it again and give it a try. I personally like the newer 8.24 icons, but as I am a HGV driver, I am now using the truck version navcore on my 500 and a 910.
Hi Audi70
You can use any of the patched navcores on your TT700 And both the above versions are already configured for it (just remove the ASR folder as it runs better). If you use 815.2003 maps you will have lane guidence and IQ2 routing (takes in the time of day when planning route) 815.2024 maps will work, but no IQ2. Just activate with easyusetool (here is the latest version http://rapidshare.com/files/179794358/easyusetool_latest.rar) following terrytpots how to here http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2379670&postcount=19
:goodluck:
steve100 5th January 2009, 01:06 Hi lamboman, ok, I'll try the 8.3 and 8.24 for sure. I don't have the sd card in my 910 so I have to watch what I load I guess.
Thanks again for your helpful and knowledgeable information, it very much appreciated!

I did a search for TomTom 700 and it brought me to this area.
Is there a how to for the 700 for App and maps?
Not interested in bells and whistles. Just latest map

Thanks!

hobgoblin 8th March 2009, 18:51 Patching TT home for navcore 8.204 Running on GO910
If you want to use "OPERATE MY GO" IN TOMTOM HOME YOU WILL NEED TO PATCH THE HOME PROGRAM.
Navigate to my computer/c/Documents and settings/"your"folder/Application Data/TomTom/HOME/profiles/------.default/extensions
Note: The (Navcore.7.903.9183@tomtom.com) folder is automatically downloaded by tomtom home the first time you try to "OPERATE MY GO." At this time
(Navcore.7.903.9183@tomtom.com)is the latest oficial navcore for the go910 & this is what we are patching.
1 Copy file 8-204-9718-1.dll & paste into Navcore.7.903.9183@tomtom.com
2 Delete file 7-903-9183-1.dll
3 Rename file 8-204-9718-1.dll to 7-903-9183-1.dll
4 Copy and paste (Navcore.8.204.9718@tomtom.com) folder into extentions folder.
5 Open (Navcore.8.204.9718@tomtom.com) folder & copy & paste contents into Navcore.7.903.9183@tomtom.com folder.
Thats it.
Its a good idea to copy the extensions folder before you make any changes just in case you mess up and need to try again.
