I have removed the windows taskbar out of my shell using a program known as xbar 1.6; I used vistaglazz to use a windows unsigned theme, and I did not remove my start button with the taskbar. In my top left corner, that is my start button, no taskbar. I installed objectdock and set it to run with open windows and minimized it to the size of the start button and put it on the opposite side. Whatever you see in the dock on the top, those are open windows. Finally I setup a Diablo 3 wallpaper and aquired a diablo icon from deviantart for my diablo 2 game. (the diablo icon is actually a desktop stack, created using a program called standalone stack) which links me to all my favorite programs (including diablo 2) quickly.

RAM consumption: Since I removed the windows taskbar, switched DWM off etc. the system idles at 850MB system RAM on a 3GB system. This is while running so many different programs like firefox 2 (memory leak), objectdock, macdrive (i like to interchange files between computers) etc.

This is my windows XP desktop. Took the wallpaper from interfacelift.com modded a transparent bar on the bottom using photoshop and placed an invisible objectdock in it containing thumbnails of my open windows (bottom right). I installed launchy with a custom made theme and placed it to the left of the photoshopped bar so it looks like one continuous bar. I installed objectdock plus, therefore I got an extra drawer at the top for all my favorite applications. I also installed objectbar with a custom theme rigablack, i think, so it looks like that now.

This system idled at 230MB of system memory out of 1GB.

Hi guys...jst would lyk to show to you my desktop. I use Objectdock, the tab on the top has autohide icons. There are also autohide icons of my commonly used applications. on left and right side of the screen. Each icon on the bottom grows and glow once passed by the mouse cursor. The G>> at the taskbar contains the link for my Games.

I used Xbar just recently to remove the taskbar from the shell, previously I just ticked the option to hide the taskbar in Object Dock.
