Despite what I see in some threads, the ONLY function you might lose from debranding your 3 UK phone is Orb. And that is under debate.
I personally cannot verify it because I don't use Orb.

MSN messenger and Skype work perfectly well, on the other hand.
I have debranded my older N73 and my current N95 8GB with no side-effects whatsoever.

And remember, MSN messenger is free to use for all contract phones, with X-series or not. For Skype, unless you have x-series, you have to call them to activate the service.

I attach the necessary files for MSN and Skype. With MSN, you have to transfer both the jad and jar files to your phone, then with file manager run the .jad file. Near the end of the installation, it will also go online to quickly verify it with 3. No probs.

These are not the latest versions, but with MSN nothing has changed, really, I tried it before debranding my phone. With Skype, it will ask you to upgrade, accept.

There are countless threads on debranding, I'm not going to go into it here. I did it using NSS and NSU. Be sure you want to do it, however, because it will invalidate your warranty*. I definitely wanted to do it because I wanted to change the language pack of my phone.

*Having said that, last year my debranded N73 needed repairs, and I took it to a Nokia Repair Centre, where they fixed it for free, no questions asked. Maybe I was lucky... :LoL:

I'm looking for one too... You suppose correctly... I didn't think (stupid). I would like some of those icons too... I do have some .rsc files from Z:\ and some .sis files from before the debranding (which didn't really change), but not the whole ROMdump... :sorry:

The only other thing that I would add is that 3 has locked the functionality to choose from either GSM, UMTS OR DUAL MODE. With 3 you have only 2 options which UMTS OR DUAL MODE which is great if you can get a 3g signal all the times. So if you debrand your phone you will get the functionality of choosing GSM Network when 3g not available.

Thanks flodis79, but I chose not to post that version because posters in that thread report it is not working with unbranded phones. Also, as soon as you install the version in the first post and try logging in, it asks you to upgrade and the upgrade works fine.
