hi guys.my samsung 17" monitor gone kaput.
The screen started shaking and a burning smell came from it. I immediately switched it off.when i switched it on next day the screen was stretched side ways.
my tech friend found that two transistors are burnt .he replaced them.
Now the smell has gone but the screen is still stretched sideways.i have tried all monitor settings to fix it.
What may be the main fault?

If you are brave enough, open your monitor cover then you can find many buttons (most of the time colored orange). It can turn left or right using a flat screw. But before you adjust it, Plug it to your PC and open everything so that you can see which button is right.
These buttons (inside) overrides the buttons (outside).
BE VERY VERY CAREFUL!!! DO NOT TOUCH ANY METALLIC CONTACTS WITH YOUR TOOL OR YOUR FINGERS.
THE CRT MONITORS HAVE THE HIGHEST VOLTAGE ESPECIALLY THE PICTURE TUBE AND FLYBACK
DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! BUT SURELY IT WILL WORK IF YOU DID IT RIGHT

The adjusters on the inside should NEVER be touched, they are set in the factory and are calibration settings,it is obvious your friend didnt replace all the faulty components because the screen is not as before, take it somewhere to be checked again before it catches fire again.

Of course it can be adjusted. It is the override settings.
I already opened several monitors and adjust those if needed.

And i suppose you checked all the relevant wavelengths with a scope to make sure they are in spec?? just check with a accurate voltmeter against the service manual, you may be surprised,i do not intend to get into a flaming war with you,you are entitled to your opinion,i like to work to the settings in the service manual you like to work to what you can see,no probs.
