OK, those aren't "my" programs, but the info is scattered across 3 web boards, 12 threads, and hundreds of pages; and often in slightly garbled gibberish.
This purpose of this post is just to make the relevant info easier to find and understand.

If you already have TT6 installed, check and write down your device ID (looks like ABCDE 12345)

Download and unzip TT_Nav_7.450.9028_repack3-qvga-blue.cab.zip
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QKT0CLRF
This will result in a *.cab file.

Copy the cab file to your PDA's memory card. Run it there. Try installing the program on the memory card, if your PDA supports it.

Find the most current maps that are compatible with this software. At the moment, those are 720 maps. 800 series maps are not compatible.
You might also want to load "lighter" version maps if there are several for your area, like DACH instead of WACE, or USA/Canada instead of NA. This will prevent several of the older PDAs from choking on them ;)
Download these, and put them on your memory card.

Download and unpack "Easy tools for PDA 7 and PND 7 and 8.zip".
The tools therein will work under "real" Windows machines as well as under virtual ones, like XP/Parallels/Mac.

Enter your device ID into the file named DeviceID.txt
If you can't find that information, briefly start TT7 on your PDA, and copy the ID from the ttnavigator.bif that will be created on first launch. This file can be opened with Notepad or TextEdit.

Copy the files $your_area.pna and *.meta into the folder named insert_meta_from_Map_here, for example USA_and_Canada.pna and USA_and_Canada.meta.

Run RunMeforDCT.cmd, option 2 "Run it for Navcore 7 up to 8.002", then option 1: "Run Keygen for insert_meta_from_Map_here".

Copy the newly generated file *.meta.dct into the map folder.

Start TT7 on your PDA. Enjoy.

Just for your information:
I've got this to work on a T-Mobile Wing and a couple of Dell Axims x30

Now if somebody wants to reply with a way to make TomTom Home work with this setup, that would be nice ;)

And please keep the silly questions down to a dull roar.

PS:

You can download voices via your PDA's internet connection, or use the ones from a TomTom PND.

Here's some additional content for you: some car cursors to start you off, a few English voices, and today's quickfix data. Drop the folders from this archive on your memory card.

Is there any software that is able to download directly on the PPC the quickfix data? So far I have been unsuccessful in finding one.... :(

Hi
Is there any software that is able to download directly on the PPC the quickfix data? So far I have been unsuccessful in finding one.... :(

Hmmmm....I got TomTom Home to download the quickfix onto the device by placing the ttgo.bif from my One into the root of the memory card of my Wing, via cardreader, not ActiveSync.
It then "installed" the most current official version of the One software on the memory card. Doesn't interfere with the actual installation of TT7 on it. After that, "Update my One" got me the quickfix, but no mapshare updates yet; because the "latest application" that got installed is 6.560 for TT PNDs.

Does anyone have a VGA version of 9029 they could send me or link to?

The VGA 9028 works great on my mio p550 but the ability to use mapshare/tomtom home etc would be great.

Have any other improvements been made to the 9029 version?

Searched on google etc but can't seem to find any 9029 downloads :(

Hi there all, I've installed Tomtom 7 and the GB maps onto my O2 XDA MINI S (Imate K-Jam) PDA, everything works perfect apart from the sound, I'm sure the 'voices' folder and files are in the right place on the memory card, I've even renamed the 2 DLL files as others on other forums have suggested, but no joy with the sound.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

The sam problem about sound an also BT on my HP Ipaq HX4700.

I started with WM 6.1 and a clean reset.
MY Ipaq works fine, sound is OK and BT is working fine.

I installed the TT NAV 7 qvga (but I tried also with qvga) and at th end of installation (after reboot), the sound slider didn't work (the volume is 0 it's possible to go up and down but it's impossible to save the new volume level) and BT doesn't work. I red that for BT it's necessary to rename 2 dll in PPC Windows folder.

After a clean reset (I lost the TT installation) the volume and BT now works fine.

Any suggestion?

Hi
Is there any software that is able to download directly on the PPC the quickfix data? So far I have been unsuccessful in finding one.... :(

Doesn't matter. The QuickGPSfix file is pointless on a TomTom on a PDA. Think about it.

gohan80
30th July 2008, 13:40
why would it be poitless? It takes so much less time to get the fix.

Tex88
30th July 2008, 13:53
Because it doesn't work that way with an external GPS receiver, that's why. These will find the satellites when they'll find them, and ephemeris data won't help them, because data flows one way only from them.
Quickfix only works with PNDs, and possibly (but I don't think so) with PDAs with integrated receiver.

That would be something to try, but my final goal was to have a win mobile application that updates the data on its own. ;)

I have got this working on my MIO 168.. seems OK.
Couple of things I'd like to get sorted though.

How do I remove all the installed voices and just have KATE ? (computer voice) ??
Any way to force this onto the memory card ? running from the system uses a lot of memory !!

Thanks :)

Hi

Delete all the files in the voice folder.
Download just Kate from within TomTom. Internet connection required, either from the PDA, or thru ActiveSync.

Any way to force this onto the memory card ? running from the system uses a lot of memory !!
Thanks :)

The voices? Or the entire program? I've got it installed on the memory card during installation. Try moving the entire program folder to the memory card.

I don't see anyway to download new voices ?? Will they work in TT7 on PDA ?

I'll try moving all the files and will post back.

Moving the files to my SD card seems to have worked.
Created a new 'Program Files' on the SD card and moved Navigator from the PDA into their.
Then moved TomTom from the PDA to the root of the SD card.

All working.. Now to try and get the voices sorted... any one ??

Tex88
2nd August 2008, 21:26
The voices can be stored in a folder conveniently called Voices in the root of your memory card. You can simply move the contents of the voices folder from your main memory to that folder.

tomt
2nd August 2008, 21:32
Normal UK voices work fine. But I have no option for Kate (computer voice)
Any way to add that.

I don't seem to be able to download it via TT7 on my PDA..
Can some one explain how to do that ??
THANKS

Tex, I have problems with the second Megaupload as well. They didn't remove the file, but after the countdown I can't download neither with a download accelerator nor usual IE download window.

I am downloading some other stuff from Megaupload as we speak and works fine.

Could you try it once more, or maybe a different host?

Thanks a lot for this great release!

I have been trying to install this on a Samsung SCH-i760 phone. I was able to install the program and some voices, but it would not read the maps correctly. So I repatched the maps and now when I attempt to start the program, the TomTom splash screen comes up then dissapears and an error pops us saying "not enough memory to run this application". I Checked the memory and there is over 30 MB (out of 64 mb) available. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well. Any Idea what I am doing wrong?

I had that idea. Nope. All I'm getting is the QuickGPSfix, and that's actually counterproductive with an external GPS receiver. I'm beginning to suspect that mapshare data is not available for North America for this kind of installation, possibly because TT7 PDAs aren't sold here. (speculation)

I have a RX5915 with 2G internal loaded with NA 720.1803 that TThome will not see. I just set up a separate 2G SD card as quoted in the 'Mapshare how to' posts. I update the SD card (now over 11K updates) then copy the four updated files to my unit.

check for navigator folder contents on your phone. usual location: Internal storage folder.

if TT7 is installed, then overwrite tomtom navigator.exe file with the patched one.

else, you can unpack contents of cab file by hand and transfer them over to phone.

Incorrect. TT home 2.x has to be used for Diamond phone.
For map share updates to work move entire Navigator folder out of internal storage to \program files in device root. leave maps on internal storage.
when connected to TT home, choose installation located on Internal storage. it works that way for everybody. make sure that map share option is enabled in TT7.

You must download the one for Navigator I believe back on TT's webpage. (ver 1.5 it is I think)

Hi,

Anybody managed to set up a connection between an E-Ten X500+ (Glofiish) and TomTom Home 2? I have tried with official ROM, custom WM 6.1 ROM (Mixxed 2.3), with Navigator versions 7.450 and 7.910, but Home 2 does not recognize the device. I have bought a map at www.tomtom.com and I want to download it using the device code from my X500+, using the TomTom.com account that is attached to my PDA and that I have used to buy the map.

When I move the SDCard to a card reader and add the files from my wife's TomTom ONE, TomTom Home detects it, but then it thinks that a TomTom ONE is connected, with a different device code, attached to a different account on TomTom.com. Therefore I cannot download the map that I have bought using my own account.

I also tried to patch ttHome.jar (2 functions in ttNavItem.js) but this didn't help in TomTom Home 2 recognizing the X500+ as a device.

What does work is changing the version of my old Navigator 6.60 map to 6.75. This allows me to use that map with Navigator 7 and with Traffic information. However, I have been unable to download the map I have bought and when I use an "unofficial" map, Navigator 7 immediately detects an incorrect activation when connection is made with the TomTom traffic server.

Any suggestions are kindly appreciated!
