View Full Version : tomtom navigator 7 on double din car radio
elroy944 24th July 2008, 17:36 hello, i have a double din 7 inch car radio with windows CE 5.0. I installed tomtom on a sd card and it works, only it is not recognizing any maps (they are already cracked) it doesn't give me the "invalid device code" or something it just gave the error "no maps found" so the problem is not the crack but the location of the maps. anyone know about this? or know where to place the maps? i would appreciate it
:ilove:
thanks
jeanjean66 24th July 2008, 18:58 If you have tomtom 6.01 or 6.02 the map must be located in My Documents on the sd card and you have to edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders.
Replace \My Documents with \Storage Card\My Documents and it should be ok.

make a new key in the registry on your PC,
then EXPORT it to a file,
put the file onto an SD card....
launch the file on you winCE device......
if you need more detailed help on registry imports/exports, I am sure someone has better details than me ...

another option is, a winCE virtual keyboard....... I am sure one exists as many winCE devices did not have keyboards.....
Here is an example, (I have not tried it, but a quick google search brought it up)

elroy944 25th July 2008, 09:26 well it's a half version of win ce 5.0 not fully. i can start just one program at the same time so the virtual keyboard is not an option. I guess maken a regfile is the best option but the problem is i don't know how to make one :(
i can import regfiles throug regedit
edit: oke i found out what i have to change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Explorer\Shell Folders] "My Documents"="\\StorageCard\My Documents"
Edit 2: oke with google i was able to made the .reg file, but i cannot load it with the regedit program so i think i need a exlorer program that requires no installation to explore the device (there is no one build in)
jeanjean66 25th July 2008, 13:55 Too bad you can't make it.
Then try to get tomtom 6.00, with this version you don't have to copy the maps in My Documents.
jeanjean66 25th July 2008, 19:50 Try this

glospete 7th November 2008, 17:20 Hi
Newbie here! I have ordered a similar radio/GPS Double DIN unit wih WINCE 5.0 and I would like to install TT7 as well. Can you give me instructions as to how to do it as I really don't know where to start.
Here's hoping!
Thanks
weldore 17th November 2008, 23:07 hey GLOSPETE,
let me know how you go on cause ive looked all over and cant find out how to do this.mine came with igo8 installed
cheers dave
glospete 18th November 2008, 12:57 Hi weldore
My unit arrived with TT6 but displayed the usual problems talked about in the forums - wrong time in TT (and no way to change time zone) and the flashing battery low symbol. So I gave up with TT and have moved to iGO8 which I think is far better than TT. Everything worked perfectly first time and the user configurable items are a joy compared with TT.
:sorry: I can't help.

I used to be a big fan of Tomtom until i started using igo 8. It really is far superior, as long as you don't mind losing your celebrity voices etc. The new iGo 8.3 is really good, and seems to be much more compatible than previous versions. I am running the exact same files on both my HTC Touch Pro and 2 in-dash 2 Din GPS units.
