Problem: When i start up, this is the message i get and my screen says to press F2 to go to BIOS or F1 for default.....if i do F1, i get to nowhere....so i have to do F2, go to BIOS and change the current date and time settings, each and every time i try to startup my machine.

Action done: I tried changing the CMOS battery, the original one is 3 yrs old, but to no avail. then i put the old one, and the comp started properly. it was okay for a few days and now again the same problem.

Request: Can anyone help me with this irritating problem? is there something wrong with the CMOS chip?

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies, will be grateful.

Surely its in the battery.

The new battery you both might not be compatible. Try to buy at the computer shop.

Yeah it's definitely the battery, I had the same problem until I fitted the correct battery. Search online or post the type and voltage you require and I'll see if I can find one for you.

The Battery No. for CMOS is 3023. Try with a New Battery. It will be alright.

well, the original battery in my motherboard was CR2032, of 3V, which I had tried to change (as I had mentioned in my original post), but to no avail. the same problem persists. what could be the problem actually?

Just enter the BIOS by pressing F2 then you can see there the "Load Default Settings" when finish hit "Save and Exit"
