How do I install the language files on a different language ROM?
Making Sprite Backup to display in your own language is a simple Copy & Paste operation.
Note: To display Sprite Backup in any of the supported languages, you will need to have your PC and Device in that language. If the ROM on your device is not in your language but the Regional Settings are set to your language you may need to rename the files before copying them to the device - see below for more information. The example below describes how to copy the Japanese files -0411- to display Sprite Backup in Japanese on the PC and device.
Where should I copy the files?
• PC side:
a) Download the Japanese.zip folder to your PC
b) Unzip the folder on the PC
c) Close the Sprite Backup PC Manager on the PC - right click on the icon and select Exit
d) Copy the “spriteservice.exe.0411.mui” and “Sprite Backup PC Options.0411.chm” files to the installation folder - C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup
e) Start the Sprite Backup PC Manager
• Device side:
a) Copy & Paste the spritebackup.htm.0411.htm in to the Windows folder on the device \My Device\Windows
b) Copy and paste the Sprite Backup.exe.0411.mui into \My Device\Program Files\Sprite Backup (or if Sprite Backup is installed to the storage card - \Storage Card\Program Files\Sprite Backup)
c) Soft reset the device and start Sprite Backup
What should I do if want to load a language that is not the default ROM language?
If you want Sprite Backup to display in a specific language despite the ROM language you can do one of two things:
1 - Select the language you want in “Settings->System->Regional Settings” to change your device configuration and language ID, then copy the correct files as per the steps above OR
2 - Rename the files above with language ID “0800” instead of the actual “0411”. This will “force” the application to load the resource/help files with this code.
PLEASE NOTE: not all devices can display all languages e.g. some devices might not display correctly Japanese characters and if you load the Japanese files, you will see “invalid” characters instead of the expected Japanese characters. In this case do not use this language for your device.
To use Sprite’s language files you first need to download and install Sprite Backup 6.2.2
NOTE: English, French, Italian, German and Spanish languages are included in the Sprite Backup 6.2.2 Installer.
