Handy Shell is a powerful replacement of standard Active Standby. It allows you to carry out most common everyday operations quick and handy.
Today view allows you to get information about your phone settings, ongoing calendar events, incoming calls, sms, e-mails, weather forecast, and provides with application shortcuts with the help of different Plugins. There are 6 types of Plugins:



Clock Plugin




App Shortcucts Plugin




Phone Indicators & Settings




Calendar Plugin




Weather Plugin (requires Handy Weather v.6 or higher to be installed).

All Plugins can be moved (along the screen), customized, activated/deactivated trough Settings view (Options > Settings > Plugins).

Start typing to invoke Dial or Start view. This view searches through available applications to start or contacts to dial. If no applications or contacts meet search criteria, it simultaneously suggests you to dial corresponding number.

Applications
Applications view allows you to launch quickly 12 (3*4) favorite applications. You can replace, move and delete corresponding Shortcuts trough Option > Shortcuts submenu.


Contacts
Contacts view allows you to work with (call, send SMS) 12 (3*4) favorite contacts. You can replace, move and delete corresponding Shortcuts trough Option > Shortcuts submenu.


Note:

If no Plugins are available after installation, please reboot your phone.

Weather Plugin can be installed only with Handy Weather v.6 or higher, which is not ready for BETA now. You’ll be able to use weather plugin after Handy Shell and Handy Weather v.6 are released.

Note: This is not a trial version, Regged means key is somewhere so look for it carefully. Read NFO file for register code

i find this after 30 minutes of usage:
1.Its flawlessly integrated with Epocware applications.
2.Its fairly customizable or u can say u have very good options.
3.Its 99999 time better than other applications and Smart Setting 2.0 included.
3.The user interface is great.
Some Bugs:
1.Dont show the cable USB indicator when connected.
2.Eat more than 2MB of ram so if u use N73 u will have some problems after days of using with restarting the phone.
3.I hear "from reply of my friend" its not compatible with E90.

*Can anyone tell me how to configure it so i dont go back to the Active Stand by (the built in one) when i press back on the menu...i need to remove the built in Active stand by from the menu button cycle.

Great app, but it's a shame that i can't change taskmanager preference... rep++

i can install Handy Task manager and it will automatically run the it instead off the Task manager of the Handy Shell.

This tool doesn't work on my E90 :(

Works fine, but dont like how I cant use JBAK taskman anymore unless i uninstall it. Also since i have the N80IE, i cant turn the default "searching for WLAN" on from the active standby.

Anyway, great app but still a few things that i recon should be fixed up.

App is ok but no way to go to loudspeaker when you get a call. If you try to close program to go to loudspeaker it hangs up call on my n-95

one thing i find, is when you get a message it does not tell you on the screen.

I like this software but I am facing one problem, If I dial number and disconnect before connecting with red button, telephone went off, again and again.

A good start...........but hopefully the next version will allow us to use wallpapers and change the active stand-by apps on the main sceen (not just the applications menu).

I had a very bad experience. I installed it and after some hours it crashed the phone (N95-2). all third party apps crashed also, no way launching anything else but the symbian built in apps. had to reinstall the firmware. please be carefull

It's really not worth it. I have it and it's only good for the 5 day forcast but other apps do that. Try installing the demo and you get 14 days trial, see if you like it :idea:

Its Working with my N82. had a problem. When clicked on Applications and then Pressed any number key. the application was Hung for some time. I was able to Press the Power Button and Switch off.
Retried . It Hangs for some time and gets back to the Main Screen.
When Restarted, the application is in Back ground process and needs to be checked or Clicked.

Also, it interferes with the Menu button.

It is good to hear that it works good for you! Your N82 doesn't mean it works for all mobiles. May be your lucky enough to get this working bug free. But you'll find it buggy sooner rather than later...

"Clock Plugin with Big digital clock, date, next alarm (with alarms hooked up from Clock, HandyAlarm or HandyClock) and alarm icon (dimmed or active)"

i have registered version of HandyAlarm (1.05)
HandyShell fails to display "Next alarm" if alarm is configured in HandyAlarm.

but "Next alarm" is displayed if alarm is set in native symbian clock app.

i had the same prob. it won't display more than one appointment at a time, and according to date/time due.

won't display notes as well. but i can live with it. :) i just look forward to better versions in the future. as a first release, it ain't too bad. the developers can and WILL learn from each release until the app finally becomes what it's supposed to be. cheers!

Open up notepad and drag the NFO file into it.

OK, I lied a little bit.

But give this a try. So far it has worked on every app for me. However, Handy Weather locks your serial key with your IMEI. I think this means you have one shot. Thus, I originally had Handy Weather v4 working with a key, but then I killed the program in favor of v6 (without saving that key). Now, keys from a keygen won't work (probably until I do a full software reset).

So, here's my theory. Install an older version (v4). Register the software with included keygen. SAVE THE KEY! Then install the new v6 software.

Can someone verify this for me? Both versions and the keygen are attached.

HELP - I installed on my N95 8gb and have a Handy file in the menu, inside there is the handy app. But when i click it all that happens is the '14 DAY trial' message displays, i click yes to that then the application flashes up on the screen and it then returns to my original theme and wallpaper ??!!!!
