Hello everyone!!

I have a Dell inspiron 16000 laptop, intell pentium
Windows xp home edition
version 2002
Everytime i try making a dvd, it won't burn. it has a dvd rw drive, and lets say i rip a dvd, when the dvd slot opens and i insert a blank dvd in, it says "please insert blank dvd", and keeps repeating it everytime i click ok.

Would anyone here knows what's happening and how can i fix that please?

Also, my D and my A don't want to work.....i actually have to copy and paste those letters from anywhere on the page i'm on, when i have to use them.:confused:

Have you tried to insert other brand of blank DVD or CD?

The problem is only reading blank disk? How about a disk with data / video on it?

Make sure that the DVD reader is RW and not DVD R /CD RW.

What Burner are you using Microsoft built-in burner or Nero etc.?

Try other DVD Disc brand if any of them would burn.

also try to see if your is still on warranty... you can have it replaced.

yes i tried different kinds of cd, and dvds but when is done ripping, as soon as it opens the slot for me to put another
dvd it doesnt recognize it. I have watched movies from a dvd from it, so it does read it.

I think this is the problem then, it is a dvd r/cd rw drive.
But if i can burn cd from the same drive, wouldn't it burn dvds too?
I've being using Nero 8.

The warranty expired already, it was my brother's then, he gave it to me.....so i believe it expired...i will ask him though

Yes i did try Nero, and still don't work..

What i meant about the A and D is that those letters don't work on my laptop's keyboard....

well it was my brother's he gave it to me, but he bought it new.

What bios set up? how can i do that?

Dude with regards to your keyboard, try cleaning it, you can actually detach it from your laptop and try to see if the sensor button for the key still works.

Oh!! then that's the problem....so you mean i need to install a dvd burner?

about the keyboard... to be honest i thought i couldn't dettach it... i was affraid of breaking it lol... i'm gonna try that!
