The best map for Greeks is the one with program.
It is GI (ex NGI) map dated 4.2008. i.e. Better than GI Destinator map
For the EEU map I dont know much . Stick with the GI map

Hi, where is the option to configure the GPS receiver? I can't find it.

Tried on Asus P535 with internal GPS on Com2. Mio does find the GPS and receive signal. However, the map does not show current position and does not move while I am diving. Does anyone have similar problem?

I have the same problem. When driving, map became blank and not moving. When navigating, it does show directions, distance til turn, and rerouting.

In order to be clear
a- GPS configuration you have to options
1- To edit with notepad the file Miomap.ini or
2- to delete the file Miomap.ini start program and the program will trace and configure a new Mimap.ini file with the location of GPS.

b- Trik to make program work. You must have 2 maps with their licence file directly to your sd/miomap file. Start the program go to preferences-map-and change map. Click on the green button right hand corner and then go to your main screen and wait for gps fix. When you have gps signal move some meters and then go again to preferences-map and change to you desired map and by returning to your main screen you can start navigation.

I tried both of your suggestions but nothing worked. I changed the GPS section of the the miomap.ini to my com and different rates and I cannot get GPS connection.
The I deleted the ini file but that also didn't work.
Any other tip or fix?

I can not see any text

On my OMNIA, program doesnt even start... but I copied everything not on to memory card, just on internal memory, but I don´t think it matters...

In my OMNIA i try it in storage card. It opens but i do not see the text (letters) just icons. the same happen and at the maps. Only symbols and images - no text (letters). I put manual at .ini file the gps port (3 at OMNIA) i get it to work (GPS) but no luck with letters!
I am sure that i caused by OMNIA screen resolution. I hope someone fix it, so we can get it work in our OMNIA's!

At 320x240 devices must modify file MioMap.ini
Instead of "WQVGA" insert "QVGA".
Next remove the line next to the Found 'com = ".
Navigation finds itself competent port and speed of data transmission.

i have tested now, but is not working. i mean that i cannot connect to gps satellites. i can see them, i can see the signal strength but cannot connect to them (i've wait about 15 minutes). when i'm on the map, the signal is red and with 4 ----.

QVGA works flawlessly on A696, no more reloading of the maps needed. Thanx!

And another small trik. In my device I've deleted the extra Benelux map and I copied again the same map i am using (Greek map). As as a result when I am changing map (to make program work) I am doing this only once.
Also In miomap.ini file under
[GPS] this line was added for gps sensitivity (when off road for quick recalculation)
NMEA=StreamTimeout=1000



Also note that these lines in your Miomap ini can be deleted or edited for

auto_zoom_max= (from 0 up to 32) m/pixels
auto_zoom_delay= (from 0 to 10 ) seconds before intersection

mermigas: Great stuff. I just installed it on my P550 and it works great with different maps. Now I need to check it while actual driving :-)))

There is one glitch though. I tried to put MioMap program files and maps into separate folders on the same SD, but this did not work. The MioMap.ini was changed by the software to show the program folder.

Do you have any idea if I can change that?

And another question. Anybody knows the full parameter set for MioMap.ini? Maybe there are additional goodies to the annoying "show_warning_window=0" one.

Alas, I've got the "Map Freeze" problem while driving with this version of MioMap.exe dated "26/08/2008 15:55". In the off-driving mode the software seems to work OK, showing the addresses, calculating routes, etc.

Any ideas?

My problem was solved by modifying "Screen=WQVGA" to "Screen=QVGA" in MioMap.ini file. Now it depends of what device do you have (more exactly of its screen resolution - i.e.: QVGA=320x240).

Hi, I'm new to this. Can MioMap 2008 be installed on a Mio C520?

Yes you can, but you shall be careful to back up the old version of MioMap software, before you replace it with the new one. Beware that MioMap 2008 is NOT the iGO-based version and is a completely different software (and to my personal view an inferior one).
You shall also be careful with MioMap.ini file - it has several options for different screen sizes, etc.
Do a search on this thread, home.disney.go.comand GPSpassion - a lot of discussions on these topics.

Several reasons:

I'm used to iGO and it's user interface - used it in the US, Europe and home (Israel). It becomes a "religious" issue as in any other rich UI software, after you are getting used to it.

Number of options to customize your experience and driving needs is much superior, especially in parameters to calculate navigation route. But beware - this is for experienced users, not for novices.

I have verified on several occasions, that the navigation in iGO is much better than in TomTom and Destinator. It used to be that their POI database was much poorer, but now it is catching up.

I replaced the two new files from the BUGAGA folder and tried the software and still without a signal. The ini file says:

but satelites are empty.

I use only one mam of North America. The com9 is correct. In other programs the bound rate is 115200 though.

Instead of "WQVGA" insert "QVGA".
Next remove the line next to the Found 'com = ".
Navigation finds itself competent port and speed of data transmission.

Had a chance to test it today on my Kaiser, it works pretty well but the maps are at least one version behind the other major navigation programs.
I like the simple interface and that no installation is required.

As far as I know, it is like any other GPS Software. Yes you can uninstall if you want.
Also didn't had any report of producing problem to others.
I think this procedure just make some soft reset in the GPS.
Is like my grandpha old jeep. Sometimes need a kick to start.

Hi, I have bought a Mio Moov 500 from USA, I came to EUROPE, I've unlocked it with your instructions but when I put the Greek MioMap 2008 (not the USA one that came with it) seems that cannot find GPS signal (with his Miomap though can find but I cannot insert Greek map with this).
I tried to run Destinator but never succeeded.

Any recommendation?

Unfortunatelly that map is incomplete. Only a few security POI's, does not show speed limit as well and a kind of old.

I'm sorry to say guys but I have tested this software intensively now (I'm constantly on the road for my job) and I have to say IGO8 is way better. Routecalculation is not as good as IGO8 (lots of mistakes and useless detours) aswell as the menu structure...etc.

Hi Slunav;

That is correct. It is not finding such POI on that particular area.
Try this.
While on the map, zoom it out in a such way the screen area can cover several blocks. Looking on the scale, something like 240m would be OK.
Then go to menu->POIs->Choose category(the one you are looking for)->Region (click on it and take "in the visible map area"->find
This should give you the POIs on the visible map area.

put both the maps in mio folder i.e. *.cfg file along with *.lic file, in mio.ini define one as a default map. wen u open mio go to prefrences > map > page 2 n select the other map , u can only select if teh valid license fiel is dr. the maps will be listed in drop down menu.

But I have small problem with MioMap on my HTC HD.. I can't disable auto zoom while navigating through route. I have tried to modify MioMap.ini but with no succsess. Seams that aplication dont care about that .ini file. No metter what I put in it, It is always the same.

d/l n save the pic in Photos folder(if not dr create a 1) in Mio Directory

now in menu go to NavPix & u can browse places on the basis pic .. its like customized POI's based on images (gps data attached)

Hi, every thing in this post is very usefull. I have one problem. I have installed the Greek map and Greek version. In the same directory I have the European map too. My miomap.ini file is configured to use the europe map. When I am going to change the map I am not able to.

I have both greece's .cpf and .lic files .

Do you have any clue?

First of all, many - many thanks to mermygas :urtheman:.

Its working fine on my Mio A501, I'm changing maps from inside the application, since you got Greek intreface, try to change maps using keys "Προτιμήσεις" -> "Χάρτης" (σελίδα 2/2)

I've downloaded and installed everything correctly on an SD card, then plugged it into my iPAQ rx5940. On the startup screen I get the message "Unable to connect to Bluetooth System. Please make sure Bluetooth is enabled and try again."
My GPS receiver is built in and is at COM1, 9600.
This message appears several times and I have to close it for the program to start. It then comes up with no GPS reception.
I tried editing the miomap.ini to force it to recognize my internal GPS receiver, but no luck. Everything else seems to be working well, but is of little use without the GPS.

I tried plugging the same card into my daugghter's humble Mio250. It came up with no problem and recognized the built in GPS.

I'd like to make it work on my iPAQ as well. Any advice?

Does anybody have MioMore Desktop PC. I need it to transfer POI on my PNA (my PNA is not MIO).

as well i ve seen some posts related to miomap, but the map is.fbl extension which is for IGO

I am using both Mireo and Black Edition. Is it possible to put the maps in a common folder and make it accessible to Mireo and Black Ed? I tried it with partial success. Mireo recognizes the map link in the miomap.ini file. but selecting another map is not possible. no map list is displayed.

IN your INI file shoul be:

Then load pictures .JPG that have coordinaes info in the pictures metedata

(there are sites that you can load such pictures and put them

in the photos folder. The MIOMAP will find them as soon as you

click the NAVPIX icon.:goodluck:

Hmm i have put Mio the file i downloaded into my SD card.. when i run it nothing happens.. So i also downloaded the swedish map and placed them in the same dir as MIO, but still nothing happens.. Any ideas what i am doing wrong? HTC touch HD.

it will create new MioMap.ini with correct GPS settings....
edit this file as you wish with your backup file...

For satellites it will take time....wait for 2 minutes in a good coverage area....
automatically your GPS gets all the satellites...

you can use MultiMapDir insted/with MapDir in the ini file. with this, it shows you all the maps, but it cannot calculate a route between two countries.

Can someone confirm that the latest NA maps are TA 2008.4 (Q1)?

I'm trying to install new map on Mio Moov 200, but it doesn't recognizes it! Why?

I have added the line multimapdir= to the ini file so I can see all countries

but at the same time the 3D buildings (Israel and Poland diappeared).

How can I use the "multimapdir" and also see the 3D buildings

You may have to correct the MioMap.ini file with notepad for correct location of map and Gps settings
For Greek map you have to options
The version 2008.04 is official with no bugs
The 2008.11 version is for beta testing and not properly released by GI

PS. For Greeks the Ginius driver (Mireo viagps black edition) is better and there ia separate release on ipmart

Thanx Mermigas for everything.
I putted Miomap 2008 in my c320b and runs perfect except one thing.
When i use it and i recharge at the same time I have no problem.
But when i use the battery only then it turns off (c320b) after 5-10 minutes.
Does anyone know why? :confused:
