The vOICe v1.27.0 J2ME

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

The vOICe seeing-with-sound MIDlet translates live views from a camera phone into sounds that you hear via the phone's speaker or headset, thus targeting sensory substitution applications for the totally blind, and even synthetic vision. The vOICe uses pitch for height and loudness for brightness in a left to right scan of any view. The software even includes a talking color identifier, such that you can point the camera of your Java-enabled smartphone or PDA to any item of interest and hear the color name spoken. Moreover, the software is available free of charge for non-commercial personal and academic use!

Requirements:
· Apart from the Nokia 6600 and Sony Ericsson K700i, it runs on the Nokia 3230, 5500, 6620, 6630, 6670, 6680, 6682, 7610, 9500, E50, E51, N70, N73, N82, N93 and N95, and likely also on the Nokia 6681, 7710, E61i, N90, N91, N92, 6131, the Samsung Z500 series

This appears to be a nice and interesting application. It takes a lot of RAM of my N95-1 and I need to close most other applications when using it. I think, it needs some practicing before it will become more useful. Thanks anyway...Mansur.
