Okay, friends I am sure you can help me on this. Owing to some problems there was a message from XP that I needed to fix the error with the help of the "Recovery Console" which comes pressing R upon the end of the diagnostic process loading the XP CD. But in the screen as it says please type the installation type and I do type (1) it stops at C:/Windows.

Now if I need to fix something at C: it wont allow the CD.. command or CD/ to implement. This is something new to me and I want to know how to do the same. I could have gone for a format but there are some important documents that need to be backed up!

whats the problem then?

if windows doesn't boot you must use boot cfg

it also has a [sort of ] help

note that dos is very sensetive for typing
no typing mistakes are alowed [ spaces ]

search thru windows help on a working xp-computer

however if the pc does boot i dont think you need recovery from xp-disk
