Hey guys,

I just bought this phone out of AT&T. I wish they had an unbranded version of this phone, but after countless hours on the internet looking for an alternative, I wasn't able to find any. Anyway, I like the form factor of the phone, the features etc.

So far everything works great, but I really really hate how they've configured this phone. For example, they've disabled SMS delivery confirmation completely. The only way I can get it to turn on is to go into the registry and change the DWORD value myself. It's ridiculous to think that just because AT&T doesn't have support for this feature, it doesn't give customers an option to turn it on when traveling abroad, or when using a network that supports it. I also notice a few settings/features here and there (I can't think of them right now) that are normally present in an HTC/HP/O2 or any other WinMo device, but has been removed (or hidden) in this phone.

Now, what I'm wondering is if there's a way to put just a clean WinMo 6.1 Pro firmware on it, without any AT&T crap software & configurations? My understanding that each ROM/firmware is specific to a hardware, so is it true that if Samsung doesn't release a "clean" ROM, then we would never be able to have it? Or is there something I can do with the current firmware to restore Windows Mobile to it's full glory?
