HandWave is a touchless interface for S60 3rd Editon.

It use your front camera to control your S60 by Hand-Waving.
Usage

Press Back to launch HandWave
Then Hand Wave from left to right, or right to left, to simulate left or right keypress.

Use the viewfinder and check the ambient light for best results.

This beta work only on portrait orientation.
Options

* Hide/Show rectangles: Hide or Show detection rectangles on the viewfinder. These indicators will light on when a movement is detected.
* Sensibility settings:
o Pixel Sensibility: Set less than 100 in too dark or too lightly conditions.
o Image Sensibility: Set less than 50 if you are far from your phone.

To-do

* Find the best Sensibility values for each condition (like light or dark environment...)
* Add a ’Far’ or ’Close’ option: This beta is optimized to detect a close hand waving. I made an alpha version working well when you are far from your phone (very great with TV-Out).
* Make it working on all phone orientations.

just tested on my N82 with resco viewer , a small viewfinder opens with 2 bars.I had set pixel sensor setting at 35 and image sensor 70 for dark light conditions in my room with table lamp only and it works good.

There are two bars which move.The waving left to right made pics move forward and the waving right to left made the images go back. I am impressed and i have a lot of wishful thinking that more options will be added.

This version is 0.01 I think with future updates
it would join one of most innovative applications used with accelerometer

wow this is great, i tried it and work fine with 50:50 in settings... hope samir will include up and down and also zooming and clicking item, hehehe im thinking too much that is hard to do but this is the start of touch less in mobile with front camera, touchscreen will seems old bcoz of this application... think of it, face recognition will also be possible for samir to do... hehehe thanks a lot rep ++


i would to ask if anyone knows how to open or edit sis or jar file coz i like to try to make my own application too, if there is software for it can you tell me what its name plsss... in python, dont know how to make it in sis format...

It was difficult for me at start as well.you have to get the right settings in the applications and it would work superb in Image gallery,music player and all applications. :good2:

Great app samir tested in N82 its works but its not working in Samsung INNOV8 its FP2 9.3

i've been waiting a loooooooog time...i'd check the aikonlab website like three times a day till now...when it came out i thought ipmart would def. have it. i love the application. thank you samir and thank you alexe for distributing it. i love tech. and this is such a brilliant idea. very innovative. its good to show off but honestly i dont see myself using it...speaking in practical terms

1. Add an option to Enable/Disable the viewfinder at the top, some people find it annoying; but I think it's a great way of adapting to HandWave.

2. Extend the function of HandWave to "Touch". I noticed that instead of waving my hand, if I swipe my finger across the front camera HandWave can still detect my movement. very good ideas. I miss up/down and touch also, if samir could make those too, then it would be perfect.

Rather than using the VGA camera.. would there not be a method to use the light sensor to detect patterns and then act accordingly? Using the VGA camera would result in battery drain over prolonged usage and I presume the light sensor would be draining the battery too but not as much as the VGA cam yeah?

it is called the Viewfinder.. theres no option to hide it yet..

let's wait for the next version to come out soon.. :D

Only supported right and left and it is really hard even you setup it to be so sensitive..

Same here. Doesnt work for me. Its a gimmick app really though. Great idea but the only use for it is if your just lazy to press a button or showing off to your mates. Still, as someone said earlier, something to talk about other than the flippin iphone lol :)

this app doesnt support FP2 phones such as N96 yet.. but Samir is working for other apps that will be compatible with N96 and it will be released soon.. :partyman:

Works fine on my 5320, yet another fp2 phone. I know its a mile away from n96. But its still fp2 lol.

I'm afraid this is all what the app is about.
Of course, all respect for the developer who made a great job, but i don't really see the point. Pressing the buttons is much quicker and more reliable, not to mention that most of the times "handwaving" requires tho hands, one to hold the mobile, another one to wave.
Bottomline, a great display of what we can do with these phones but certainly not a long-term, must-have app. Uninstalled.

Well, this app doesn't use the acceleromter, so I can't really tell why it's not working on N96.
Nokia uses different APIs for 1st gen accelerometer (e.g. N95, N82, etc) and 2nd gen accelerometer (e.g. N96, etc).
Probably the same applies to another API used by this app; that's the only reason I can think of.

What do you mean?
If you want to know what the app is for, it's explained in the first post: it uses your camera to detect specific hand movements and act accordingly. So, basically you control your phone by moving your hand.
AFAIK (although I haven't tried it yet) it uses only the front (secondary) camera (else you wouldn't be able to see what you're doing on screen).
