Umm..I don't think it does nothing with the jumper (or does it?). Try to check ur motherboard manual of how to set the CPU clock through the BIOS.

than better leave bios alone
think back; any idea when it started?
have you [un]- intalled something?
updated mayby?
is your pc running real slow, or acting weird?
if not it could be windows just reports a wrong speed
you could try to update the driver;
- device maneger- processor- right click- update driver

1. Remove the battery of your PC to reset any settings on your motherboard.
2. If still the same, turn on your PC, it will show you the processor speed. Click pause so that so can check it properly what is displayed on your screen. Or if you cant see it check BIOS / CMOS setting.

its a feature of amd processors called "cool'n quiet", on intel its called "intel speedstep technology". it makes the processor multiplier go down to save energy when idle or using non-processor consuming process like for example just surfing the net, playing music. it automatically throttles back to its default multiplier when loaded, example playing games or converting and encoding videos. look for the motherboard manual then search it's bios setting for cool'n quiet setting and disable it. if it does not work, try searching google.
personally I leave it the way it is because I often leave my pc downloading or just surfing the net. saves electricity and somehow prolongs the life of your processor. hth

i think you have no other option than to take look in the BIOS
usely cpu-speed will show there too
if in bios the correct cpu speed is shown you have a windows problem
if in bios 999mhz you may have a hardware problem [ either MoBo or cpu ]
do not try to change all kinds of things there!:nono:
i cant tell details becouse all bios's are different
try to find a manual for your pc
it will explain about bios settings:thinking:

Yeah basflt is right :good2:
But all you can do now is unplug your PC, open your CPU case, remove the battery then put it back.
Turn on PC then check.
You dont have no choice. Either you accept it as 999mhz, bring it to technician and pay them or you learn something about it by doing it on your own :):)
