What is Accelerometer :

An accelerometer is a device for measuring acceleration and gravity induced reaction forces. Single- and multi-axis models are available to detect magnitude and direction of the acceleration as a vector quantity. Accelerometers can be used to sense inclination, vibration, and shock. If you one of those people who love sketching and painting in the digital medium than this little software could be interesting for you,
but otherwise it is pretty pointless because possibilities of the motion based controlled brush on the QVGA screens are very limited unfortunately.

I mean it is the quite cool idea there is no doubt, especially considering all features that author planning to add till the final public version.
Of course, the idea itself is great but instead of painting over the crappy QVGA screen I'll rather use the phone's accelerometer to control the brush in the Photoshop,
but actually it is already possible by the NiiMe Mouse application?!

From other hand, this cute accelerometer based application could allow S60 phones to tap into an arty space, creative segment that strongly business oriented phones tend to miss.

The author is planning not to make a simple toy, but to create a complex and powerful image editor for Symbian phones, with layers support, brush options, filters and effects.
He is trying to create the software which can be useful to snap a picture, edit it straight on the phone, and send it, publish it immediately!

Want to know how it all works? Your steps are measured by analyzing the output from an accelerometer in your S60 mobile device.
All you have to do is carry your phone around with you whenever you move, for example in a pocket of your clothing, attached to a belt or your upper arm, or in a handbag worn over your shoulder.

Most commercial step counters require you to attach the measuring device to your belt.
We have made an effort to ensure that Nokia Step Counter is accurate regardless of how you carry your phone.
It should work fine if you have it in a pocket of your clothing, or a handbag you wear over your shoulder.
The most challenging case we are aware of is when you have the phone in your hand while walking because then you ’shake’ it in a way that is not representative of how your body’s center of gravity move!

Nokmote is after all, intended to play games on your phone, and better in landscape mode.
But you can use it for menu navigation, web browsing... but it's not the first aim of this app.

It makes use of the Accelerometer motion sensing plugin which comes built-in with Nokia N95 classic and 8GB editions and in some later s60v3 phones.

Beta 3:
- Major bug on newer firmwares fixed

Nokmote 2 will be oriented to navigation.

To play a game with Nokmote:
- Launch Nokmote, and bring it to background
- Keep your phone in the original position. In original position, no keys are simulated. You can define this position in Options -> Calibrate
- Press the hotkey to activate Nokmote
- Tilt your phone left, right, up or down to simulate joypad keys. Keeping your phone tilted will simulate a long key press
- Push the phone quickly away from you to simulate a 'Ok' key
- To deactivate Nokmote press the hotkey.

Don't forget to install N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis.

- Auto Start: Enable this setting to launch rotateMe automatically at the phone boot.
- Autorotation switch type:
* Hotkey: Disable autorotation by pressing simultaneously 'Pen' and 'Camera' keys.
* By launching: Disable autorotation by launching rotateMe. To launch the app, launch it from menu.
- Inactivity Delay: After this delay of inactivity, auto-rotation will be stopped. Press a key, or unlock the keypad, to reactivate auto-rotation.
- Priority: High priority allows a better reactivity when big apps are launched.

The basic functionality of this simlpe application is to show your vehicle angles while off-roading using the Nokia N95 accelerometer.
Just Fix your mobile phone in a secure cradle and then launch the app!.

To keep the backlight on, select "Light on" from options menu, as well as there is a reset option, which with you can reset the angle values to zero level.

Update:
The Inclinometer for N95 is now also updated, did remove the RD-plug-in, so it should work with other Nokia mobile phones with accelerometer, and not just with Nokia N95.
Also added options for reset and keeping the backlight on continuously.

I agree an easy thread with all acc apps...well done.....But the link used to download hammers me with pop ups and the annoying adverts for a very large nappy for men ....but it is worth it for the files....but the nappy ads has made my wife think i may be incontinent...LOL.....

Till now only two motion based apps are working for FP2 devices, marble maze game and Nokia's step counter... now there are two new addition to this list... and now it's 4 apps working on FP2 devices.

The latest apps Hi-N-Bye & Rock-N-Scroll for FP2 hasn't listed here, so I will wait for the latest releases on this forum...tc

And os 9.3 phones do have an API for accelerometer but it's different than on the 9.2 devices. The only so far at least 9.2 device which has the same Accel... API as the 9.3 devices is the E66.

is there a way to make this work on nokia E72? I have tried a lot of this versions, installing pythons and stuff, but it wont start. It installs fine, but when i want to start it it just doesnt load.
