I currently have a K750i and I'm buying a new phone. Probably P1 because I can get it at a really low price. I'm used to occasional gaming on my k750 so i've got a couple of questions about p1.
1. Can I play standard 240x320 games that were originaly made for, let's say, k800?
2.How many good games are there actually for p1i?
3. Can I play all UIQ 3 games on p1i?
4. Where to find games for that phone?
5. How fast is it in running 3D games? I mean, how good is the framerate?
These are my biggest concerns:
1. If i had a couple of k800i games (240x320 screensize) will they work on p1? I noticed that p1 doesnt have softkeys and most of the games for "normal" phones make use of the softkeys (LSK & RSK). So the question is : Is there a button on p1 that is used like a softkey in games? Imagine this situation : I'm playing a strategy game (that was made for "normal" 240x320 phones) and i need to open the map with the left sofkey. But P1 doesnt have softkeys, so is there a button that i can use to open the map? I hope you understand what i mean.
The other question is this: If a game has been made for a Nokia Symbian OS 9 device, an it has a .sis extension can i play (install it) it on p1?
Please, i really need your help. Thanks.

1. You probably mean Java games. Yes, it will work on P1i. But users of P1 prefer symbian games, they are better and faster. You will see
2. on P1 works java games, but also symbian games for uiq 3 so more than on K800
3.Sometimes is problem, that version of game is for other uiq3 phone than P1, but I think that all games for uiq 3 got version for p1i (differneces are with controls ,or low speed, for exaple Motorola got faster processor i think)
4.You have to chcek forums on internet, also on this forum you can find many games and applications
5. i donīt know real numbur, but for example :if you remember Duke Nukem 3d, there is the same version for uiq3, and it works

on average, almost 99% of the time, you can play almost any game that has the same screen size that your phone uses. In fact, most games from e.g. Nokia or Motorolla will work on SE fones as long as they have the same screen size. So that's a yes for ur first question. I have a W950i and can play games that are for K800i, K850i, M600i etc perfectly fine, since they all have the same screen size.
Besides, one game usually has many screen size distributions. It'll be really easy to find the one for ur fone, most games now days have universal screen sizes anyway......also, u can manually adjust the screen size by editing the .jar file using Winrar, all you have to do is edit one single line and it'll fit on your phone, but dw about it, that's hardly necessary coz like i said, u'll find the game for ur fone EASILY.
Also, there's a program called JAM if i remember correctly, it's in this forum. You can edit the .jar file so that the controls will work on ur fone (if it doesn't work in the first place). You can change it so that u can use the touchscreen or the d-pad buttons, so dw, even if the control doesn't work, as long as the game fits ur screen, u can simply change the controls. And it's not hard either, it's easy.
As for ur 3rd question, there're WAY more games u can play on an UIQ3 fone than on a normal crappy java fone. On average, better models will usually handle games that are designed for lower models, simply coz they're just compatible with them and plus the screen size are the same (as i mentioned above) and obviously, well, they're BETTER and NEWER models. Pi1 can play almost any game for K series. And UIQ games are generally more fun than java games.
Plus, u can have GBA emulator in ur fone, that's 10X better than JAVA games. N let's not forget u can play FLASH games and Mophun games etc.....
in fact, i have about 100 games installed on my W950i, n i don't even haf time to go thru all of them coz usually i get so addicted to just one or 2. Sometimes, i play bluetooth multiplayer with my friend and it's great fun. Basically, the possibilities for UIQ3 fones are way better than normal java fones like K800i. And i'm not just talking about games. Apps play a big part too, u get stuff like CorePlayer that plays almost any video format, or dictionaries, and let's not forget the awesome mods and hacking etc.
U can find games easily in this forum or Google.....there're just way too many. In fact, there's enuf as it is in this forum, there're the game packs as well......i haf like 50 warez forums that are solely based on fone warez, but this forum already has enuf so just stick to it.
BTW, if i remember correctly, Pi1 has more buttons than a K800i so obviously the controls are much better and u can set more shortcuts etc.....the downside to W950i or W960i is that it has little controls so some games might nt work, but that's rarely happened to me as most of the games i find work fine. Well, at least 100 games work fine for me so that's MORE THAN ENUF.
and since UIQ3 fones haf much better hardware, no doubt the java will run better. PL1 has 128mb ram. A normal java fone like K800i probably doesn't have any ram at all. And let's not forget that the PL1 processor OWNS K800i.
so ya i guess it's a pretty obvious choice.....upgrade.

what do u mean 3D java games...? Java games are all 3D......nt sure wot u mean bt like i said, 99% of all the java games that work on normal java fones will definitely work on UIQ3 fones.....think about it....it's symbian, it's a smartfone, it's BETTER.

Thnx chaoscreater. There was this other thread in which i asked the same question and one of the users on this forum told me p1 can run k800 (or any 240x320) games (2D like Might & Magic, Far Cry 2, Soul Of Darkness, Age Of Empires 3) but not 3D games like Rally Master 3D, Galaxy On Fire, Real Footbal 2008 3D etc. That's what i meant.

oh ok ic wot u mean, im pretty sure Pi1 can run those games fine....the "3D" games aren't rly any special, just that they require more ram and is slightly more 3D. E.g. Real Football 2008 3D, it only gives u a slightly better 3D view of the game, but overall u won't rly see any difference......it's mainly the performance of the game that counts and games that are so-called "3D" according to what u meant, don't rly show any significant difference to say e.g. Real Football 2008. Plus, the "3D" games will lag more, that's y i can't get Real Football 2008 3D to run fully fine on my W950i coz my fone only has 64mb ram.
But then again, it doesn't really matter whether Pi1 can handle the "3D" games or not.....because if it can't, well ur K750i can't handle it either. Like i said, a smartfone or symbian fone will out-perform in every way compare with a normal java fone. The processor and speed is important. So even if Pi1 can't play "ONLY SOME GAMES", at least the majority of games and apps it can run are MUCH MORE than what your K750i can handle, so just upgrade it.
Comparing a symbian fone to a normal fone is like comparing a computer to a brick. So don't worry, once u get the fone, u won't even haf time to find new games coz there're way too many already. U'll most likely be installing awesome apps and mods on ur fone rather than playing the games. I was like u back then, always care about games on cellfones coz im usually bored when im out, i played thru almost every popular GBA game on my fone and tons of java & symbian games n now i play very little even tho i haf 100 games installed which i've only gone thru maybe about 15. Why? Coz i've been having too much fun with the apps and other stuff u can do with an UIQ fone, having a symbian fone just gives u way more features n cool stuff to do. U won't even care about games anymore after u use it heaps.
thatīs right, all SE "low end" phones got "mascot capsule" for 3d rendering, uiq3 phones lacks of this feature; for 3d games you must use n95 versions.
ok i did not know that, but im sure one of our PRO hackers or modders will make it work somehow. Just like how they ported Mophun. One of the good thing of having a symbian fone is that PRO people can port apps or games from a different platform to the fone.
E.g. u can play Stratagus on ur fone which is basically Warcraft 2 on PC.
Anyway there're only very very few games that are in "3D", but like i said, they're not really any different. So don't let only a few games that might not work on Pi1 stop u from getting the fone. And i think i only ever saw 4 or 5 games that are "3D" posted in this forum n they don't look that good anyway.

Thanks guys. You helped me a lot. I have the opportunity to buy an unlocked P1i for 150$. In all the other threads everyone keeps recommending me to buy a nokia phone but I don't think I could find any NOKIA phones that are as good as P1 in this price range.
So the conclusion is this : If I want to play 3D java games (with .jar extension) i need to use the Nokia N95 version?
What about Nokia N95 games with ".sis" extension? Any chance to get them to work? AT least a few of them?
I'm a big fan of adventure games (especially point n' click) so could you recommend any? If there are any?

ur english is fine, but i suggest u read my replies again about the 3D games....u DON'T need Nokia N95 to play 3D java games, Pi1 can handle 3D java games fine. Only that it might be slow in performance but only very slightly considering it has 128mb ram which is a lot. On my W950i, i can play Real Football 2008 and PRO Evolution Soccer 2009 and both are 3D games, i can play it but it lags only very little and my fone only has 64mb ram.
Like i said above, there are only "VERY FEW" 3D java games and they're only slightly different compare to normal games that aren't java. If you compare Real Football 2008 3D and Real Football 2008, they are exactly the same. Only slightly different.
Trust me, u won't even care about the difference once you've seen what a 3D game is like. They're just the same ****. 3D java versions will require more performance so it may lag. Remember, they're games for CELLPHONES, so they don't require a DIRECTX 10 graphics card, u won't notice the difference because gaming on mobile is GENERALLY the same for models along the same range. Playing games on Nokia N95 is pretty much the same as playing on a Pi1 or W950i or other models. What i'm trying to say is, don't even care about the 3D game problem at all because u won't notice any big difference. Why? Because it's running on mobile, it's not like you're running hardcore games on a computer where u'll need to care about every spec such as processor or graphics card.
What about Nokia N95 games with ".sis" extension? Any chance to get them to work? AT least a few of them?
.sis extension is what SYMBIAN phone uses. All UIQ3 fones use that, and so does NOKIA symbian fones. But Nokia is slightly different, even though both Sony Ericsson & Nokia use symbian and that the files are .sis extension, but they are different and might not work for the opposite model. I.e, some Nokia symbian games won't work on SE fones.
There aren't a lot of good adventurer games.......i think what you're asking is a bit too highly expected. Gaming on cellphone is suppose to be maybe 30 minutes of fun at the max. There aren't really any good games that require a super hardcore cellphone. Basically, whatever high-end phone you buy, it's GOOD ENOUGH. You don't have to worry about specific models and specific games and care about whether this or that might work. Like i said, 99% of games will work fine, and 3D games look **** and aren't any different compare to the normal versions, you won't notice any difference because gaming on cellphone just SUCKS compare to gaming on a computer, you WON'T see any huge difference.
It's not like playing say CRYSIS or Far Cry 2 on a computer, where you'll see a huge difference when you upgrade your graphics card. Cellphones aren't like that, it's the same the whole time. So don't worry about it, just buy Pi1. Nokia N95 isn't worth the money, it's not any better really.

Donīt worry about P1 qwerty keyboard. You can play games also on pseudo-alfanumeric keys, because position of numbers is the same as on other phones. lots of games got own section where you can define keys as you want.

framerate is fine, just a couple of games are not working
In fact, overall framerate (2d and 3d) is better with n95 versions, k800 games runs very slow.
Nfs (most wanted and undercover) are not working or working bad.
For other games (as galaxy of fire) is fine, if not, try s40v3 versions.
btw, 150 is cheap, you must buy it instead of posting here.

by the way all games work great if the only sound they have is backround music (and around 60% of all java games are made this way). Only a few of them have ambiental and other sounds like "bang", "boom" etc. And in these "boom, bang":D games the only option is to turn the sound off.
