Hi. The PSP uses UMD for Games and a Sony MemoryStick Pro Duo as the storage. As far as I am aware, you cannot get a UMD Burner, but you can now download games from the Playstation Store using the inbuilt Wireless Network Connection (wireless network required).

To play game backups and run Homebrew, you will need to install Custom Firmware, which if done wrong can brick your PSP - just search in IPMart for 'cfw psp' to get downloads and detailed instructions on how to do this. You will need a Pandora Battery and 1GB Memory Stick (search google for this - Datel make an equivalent to the Pandora Battery which works just as well!) to run the CFW Installer.

Good luck in getting a PSP (do it sooner as the new 3000 model comes out soon and this may be a while before one of the PSP Guru's crack the firmware on this)

Yes, buy it now cos the new models are un-hackable yet.

you be real careful when getting a new battery to make Pandora coz the ones sold (especially in Mumbai are nothing like the original ones). When I decided to make a Pandora battery I went and bought a new PSp battery but when I opened it was nothing like a normal PSP battery (neither new or old).

Be ready to take risk and then only opt for installing custom firmware on ur PSP coz a single step wrong n you could end up with your PSP being nothing but a piece of junk.

if you need any help, please feel free to PM me. :)

I have done a little more research for you on this. You can get the Datel Battery (known as the Datel Max Power Tool Battery for PSP) which allows you to run custom firmware on your PSP. Follow the link below:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Power-Tool-Battery-PSP/dp/B000W4HSHC

You can use this as a normal battery, but there is a technique to doing this - you need to plug the power into the PSP first with no battery attached, turn on the PSP, then plug the battery in to use it as normal.
