Maps 3.0Beta is a sneak preview of the forthcoming version of Nokia Maps ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).



What’s new:
Enhanced car navigation, Drive*, through lane assistance, speed limit warners, improved sign post design and new ‘Route overview’ mode during navigation,
Enhanced pedestrian navigation, Walk**, through shortcuts (virtual connections) in urban areas, straight line guidance for off-road terrain and beeps and vibrations before next turn,
Significantly improved map data quality and content,
3D landmarks for over 200 cities – can be displayed in 3D and 2D map modes,
New Terrain*** map mode,
Hi-res aerial images for Satellite*** and Hybrid*** map modes,
Nokia Maps Updater for PC, to update your Maps application and existing map data,
Synchronisation of Favourites and Collections with MapsBeta on Ovi and vice versa (use in online mode, enable Internet connection).

Nokia Maps Updater is a PC application with which you can install the latest Maps 3.0 beta client to your device, and update the maps and voice guidance files. There is no sis file available, because the Maps 3.0 beta client requires the installation of new, compatible maps and voice guidance files. To use Nokia Maps Updater, you need Nokia PC Suite ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) installed on your computer.

Download Nokia Map Loader 3.0 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (EXE, 27.8MB)

Instructions:
1. Download and install Nokia Maps Updater to your computer.
2. Connect your device to the computer, and open Nokia Maps Updater.
3. Select your language from the list.
4. If more than one device is connected to the computer, select your device from the list.
5. When Nokia Maps Updater has found updates, select to download them to your device.
6. Accept the download in your device when prompted on the device display.

Nokia Maps Updater replaces the maps of entire regions or countries on your device. To transfer maps of additional regions or countries to your device, use Nokia Map Loader 3.0. Note that earlier versions of Nokia Map Loader do not work with Maps 3.0.

If you downgrade the Maps application, for example, when installing new firmware or resetting the device, update the application again with Nokia Maps Updater. Downgrading to Maps 2.0 or lower is not recommended due to technical limitations and incompatibilities.

well, I don't know if I used caution enough, but on my N78 I am left with no icon for maps at all... I am reinstalling maps 2 now...

This is reply by Nik from Nokia Beta Labs. My Nokia Maps went nuts after installing this 3.0. Here is solution to downgrade 2.0 version:


Hi all,

While the beta did not work on my N85 either (remember: it’s a beta!) I managed to remove it and get Maps 2 working again. Don’t know if all the steps are required, but this sequence worked:

1) Delete the ‘cities’ folder and the ‘qf’ file on the memory card - this gets rid of Maps 3 data stuff.
2) Reinstall Nokia_Maps_2.0_4503_3.2_u.sis
3) Start Maps - no maps available - close Maps - this recreates the required directories.
4) Use Map Loader 2 to load new Maps.
5) Enjoy!

I guess some of us (N85 users :-) will have to wait a bit…

tried installing it 3 times; kept getting system error. went back to 2.53 but the whole process ate up 10 mb of space on phone mem so i re-flashed phone. sux cause maps 3 looks sweet

Lennox don't be rude. first of all the topic says just info (doesn't refer cracked!). and except this he referred that its only trial and only for fp2 mobiles until now.. see the replies before tring something you too. this is a rule i think!

sorry guys for misunderstanding it lasts until 09-05-2028. i can see that by opening the cracked sis of previous version with siscontents v.0.9.6 application.

So does v3 do speed camara warnings? Is that what 'safety spots' means?
