for those who need help in installing the maps , its quite simple follow the steps :

1). Install garmin mobile xt 5.0.20 posted in the forum.
2). Use the keygen posted along with india map.
3). Enter your cardID in the top field and press generate, you will get your garmin software unlock code copy it and paste in a new file in notepad and save it as "SW.unl" without the suffix .txt, transfer that file to Sdcard:\Garmin.
4). Now in the second part of keygen enter the Custom map ID , in this case , its 1119 and press generate, Do the same as you did with the software's "SW.unl" , now this time save the key as "gmapsupp.unl" and place it in the same place.

now start garmin, and viola ! its full and usable.
remember to set in remote gps under settings the mode you wish to use gps (interated or bluetooth).

if any more help is needed ask me.

I didn't made the rules, i just follow them and make shore that every one do the same. I my self posted some maps and i always posted with screenshots, this is a way to show that it is what the title said and that is a working one.
Not every time the name of the rar file contain necessarily map id or code, etc.

I have installed it and working but where to put the MAPS of INDIA and how to View it.

The Map Does not work even after unlocking in the map sets option it Says India map but whenever I try to access any feature which uses Detailed map it says detailed map required contact [Only registered and activated users can see links]

i have downloaded the india map 24 mb file
& copied it to the garmin folder on my memory card.
i also have the Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20 S60 v ersion.

but i m not able to open the maps and i get the following message.

its not an error , the navigate by address feature is not present yet for the indian sub continent , you can navigate other places by address in u.k. , u.s.a, australia etc...

i followed the same process. Generated the key and put it in a file gmapsupp.unl and then copied that file to the garmin folder. When i open garmin i get this message "no map" what is that i am doing wrong.

in my e61i, its not working. when I tried to browse it it says no map. and I tried the big map (asia and australia).

Even in "Garmin Moble PC" its not working both the maps. if I use the asia and australia in PC , the application is carshing. it says....Assert failed at uni_cnvt.c : 326

Somebody plz help me.....I cant use my N82's internal GPS.....
there is no option to set Garmin to use internal GPS....I can only search for a bluetooth GPS

Actually I had no base map, and the map pointer was pointion in UK thats why it says no map.

Now I put basemap and india map. and now I can see india map. (detailed map) outside india it say basemap.

Do anyone knows how to change the pointer location when I start browse map as it always points to UK when I start it

You have to do at least one fix on satellites and than you will see the pointer at your last location.

Slight ? its a huge shift on my location but i guess its garmin problem , and i have no idea as how to fix it ....

I'm not the poster, but you can download the provided tutorial and read it, you will find everything you need to install Garmin XT and maps:

India Map won't work unless you install BASE MAP.

Rename India map "gmapprom.img" and make unl file with the same name "gmapprom.unl" . This way it won't replace the first map. Make sure that unl file doesn't have txt extension.

Use the file attached. If your card ID is correct, it should work. Map name must be the same as unl file.

hey sorry I found solution of my problem :)
actually this is not a detailed map, therefore "addresses" cannot be used in these maps.
Detailed maps like, City_Navigator_India_2009_V2__img, are required to use this function
so the method of cracking is perfect ;-)

Yes it does, just have to use an external bluetooth GPS receiver.

MapmyIndia is the most detailed map for India, no doubt there.

AGREED !! garmin now sux big time i am also using mapmyindia maps on my 5800XM posted recently by ioji ... it works like a charm ... enjoy guys!
