gobbetto 8th January 2009, 18:43 Good post grard31 :)
A thing you can specify is that if you don't have changedtext.txt, you get the original message from your hardware.
So, as example, for yourself that put "TomTom GO 910", is not necessary since if you don't have the file, it will display the same, that file is only needed if you want to personalize the text ;)
Actually, after a few tries, I now don't have any config dir (but I have ttgobak ;) )
Thanks again for your nice and clear how to install post .

EDIT: I think thecleric had his GO corrupted before, and with your instructions he was able to fix it.

Yes, it is not to change your bootloader (unnecessarily and dangerous)
Read : http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=322366

Do I (a) Copy my Old system File from my Backup or (b) will a New System File be created by initially rebooting the device, or (c) do you not need the System File in the root, only if you are updating the firmware

(a) (b) or (c)

the answer is (d): system is only need once when you update the bootloader. it has nothing to do with firmware (=navcore). then you never need it again!
But you need a tsystem. thats the file TTUser makes for us. Actual rev. 1.4

I have downloaded Files/read/printed instructions on the Upgrade already...
My query was that on both the Go910 & Go700 Guides there was no mention of the System File. I now realise that it is only needed for an "upgrade" of the Bootloader, so If I'm keeping my original version, then I don't need it......

frog06 13th January 2009, 20:46 I've got a problem my boot for GO910 is not Boot 4.8600 but Boot 5.3006
How can I change the boot back ??
I've got the system file from my backup but when I put it back in the Go 910 it doesn't change the Boot, what should I do ??
gobbetto 13th January 2009, 21:06 frog,
you can't do anything.
You must live with that hoping it doesn't give you any trouble.
I have on my GO910 the 5.106 ver. and works very well, I know nothing about ver. 5.300.
Anyway, actually there's no way to rollback, sorry:goodluck:
frog06 13th January 2009, 23:02 Yes I've got differences with the one of my friend with exactly the same files...
It doesn't indicate when I connect on computer, it freezes then it connects to computer but that's not a big problem... But the automatic brightness doesn't work so does the night colors function...
gobbetto 16th January 2009, 01:32 Mine too doesn't have anymore the connect to pc button, who cares, is better like this... :P
the freeze thing is avoidable by turn it off before insert/eject from the connection slot :)
The brightness and day/night should work; try doing 2 or 3 resets then use it for a while.
It should go back to normal after a few times , at least mine did like that. :)

Fransh 22nd January 2009, 11:30 Hello,
I have installed this firmware on my 910, my compliments for the detailed description.
But I have the problem that it is very slow, the speech has long pauses, for instance she will say, go to the (pause pause) A15 to (pause pause) Amsterdam.
This is very annoying.
Does anyone have a solution for this.
thx,
Frans

Installed everything OK and only problem seems to be it hangs for ages on the splash screen and sometimes needs a reset. I previously tried to install an incorrect navcore by mistake and it changed the bootloader to 5.5106.
Once it starts up everything is fine but wondered if there is anything I can do to stop it hanging on the splashcreen?

Have you used :
ASR
navcore_SE_8.204.9718_basicpack
SE_ttsystem.8204.9718.x10.x20.x30.rev.1.5.rar
and folder Outsourced.8204, in the root of your GO910 ?

Yes I have put all these items in and followed your instructions dated 18.01.09 for Navcore 8.204 Rev 1.5. After I had first installed everything it booted up straight away but no hangs and also just freezes on the splashscreen.
Can I try anything else?
Thanks

In setconfig.text I only have changedtext:TomTom 910 Grant
Please can you explain your reference to adding cleanflash. Not sure what you mean-can you give a link to this and the settings I need and where it goes.
Funnily enough it seems to be getting better and is now booting up quicker.
Thanks for your help.
