:mad: I realized when I found the already known game 'Sudoku for 5800' that 5800 can play flash files fullscreen. (Sudoku is just an swf file) After this discovery :) I wanted more games for my 5800, so I searched for flash games. I would like to share with you those which are worked well on my 5800.

A short tutorial to enjoy this kind of games:

- copy the flash file (swf) to anywhere you like to your memory card
- I don't know how to make shortcut to the application menu, so if you know, tell me, and make a shortcut for it. :) If you don't know either than you have to double click to the file in a browser to start the game. The best if you rotate the device in landscape screen before you start.
- If you started before rotation of the device, you can rotate the screen in the flashplayer menu. If you are in landscape mode, put it to fullscreen mode.
- Voila, you have a fullscreen-game to your 5800
- Unfortunately You cannot use the flashplayer menu in fullscreen mode, so you cannot change the settings for the flash player or quit. But very simple method for quitting if you push the red button.

I hope this tutorial will help, and you will like the games!
I tested all, and found that if the flash-game is highly video oriented, it will be very slow.

First game:
BATTLESHIPS

This is not totally true. You can view it in fullscreen with the flashplayer, but it depends on the aspect ratio of the game...
For example 'Purgatorium' is with the same aspect ratio than 5800, so you can use it with TOTALLY FULLSCREEN...

These screens made with my 5800, so I cannot provide the screenshots more accurate. :)
If you can find that the aspect ratio is not the same than 5800, this is why I cutted the small black lines on the sides. But don't conclude for the aspect ratio from the screenshots I made, because I cropped them very fast...

Yeah, they are fullscreen. Too bad u can't rotate the ships - u can put them on the desk in straight line only, like they are in ur pictures. :)

Yes, you have totally right. :good2:
But without rotation you can use and enjoy the game. Sadly we don't have enough games for 5800 auauau to sort out some.

Just fyi, once you copy the flash game into your mem card, just click on Gallery and click on Other Files. All the .swf files will appear there and you can launch them from here. An alternative to launching from file manager.

JUST A TIP: If you set the quality in the flash lite for 'low', games will be faster, but with a bit lower graphic quality. With the quality setting 'high' the picture quality will better but just in a few games. Downside of this setting that games will be very slow with it.

RayRay

A "rather bizarre little game" "about small men who like squatting", and also "shaking their bellies". The aim is to get all the RayRays to stand up, but the catch is that, whenever you click on one, his neighbours either sit down (if they're already standing) or stand up (if they're already sitting down). Imagine that over a variety of different RayRay arrangements (over three different levels of difficulty) and you're well on the way to grasping this puzzler's peculiar appeal. Controls: click on RayRay to make him stand up - or sit down.

Yeah, sadly I noticed this new "feature". So, it is almost useless now. But thanks to Adobe, it is Flash Lite 3.0. I hope they will change it to real fullscreen function, because it is not a functional option to get those controls in a screen which is smaller than the normal one... So, come'on everybody write an email ti Nokia and Adobe, that this is nice, but useless. :)

what you guys can try for flash, is creating small html file that loads the flash which also specifying it should be full screen and make a widget package and install to the phone.
then you'll also have an uninstall option and an icon :)

OK! Found this FAB old-time-classic (used to play that in coin-ops when I was young) in flash format! Playable only with virtual keyboard, game size is OK. Try it in horizontal (landscape) mode...
Fire button is the "UP" arrow!
Start is "Center"

fscommand2 is a flash command, so if you have the source code (fla) of the flash file, you can use it. BUT: these flash games here are without the fla files, so we cannot use fscommand2. We have to make it fullscreen with a javascript in a widget package. I tried some methods, but I'm not a javascript programmer, so I don't know how to use exactly the &quot;menu.hideSoftkeys&quot; command. If somebody is an expert, I created a widget, which runs the flash game without the onscreen buttons, but we have the two softkeys below, so we need a .js file with the softkey hiding javascript in the package.
We can compare it to the checkers fullscreen widget game which has a basic.js file with the fullscreen option.
If somebody wants to check it, just rename the checkers.wgz to checkers.zip, unzip, and in the extracted folder there will be a basic.js with the javascript code.

So, programmers, come here, and help us to finalize creating flash game widgets with fullscreen option! :)

Hi,

I think I've made it.

Tuningszocske I used your Phit widget and modified it.

I don't have an 5800XM so I can't test it real, I've been using a remote phone from Nokia.

Problems I've seen:

- When pressing 'Begin' on game two softkeys will be displayed, 'Done' and 'Cancel'. However, you can press both and it will disapear. Please confirm this.

- By pressing Red key for closing it doesn't close, just hides. I think that on phone this shouldn't happen. Confirm this too please.

Thanks:good2:

OK, great. First suggestions:
OXINARF: I will follow your version although we don't need the main.html file, it is enough if you refer the flash file in the playlist.info file. Your version couldn't install, my phone said: the function is not allowed. But I try to follow your logic in the html file.

SADZAK: I just tried your Reaktor, but nothing happens, my phone crashed, just a balck screen when run. Just a notice: it is unnecessary that you write fullscreen2 command to the main.html, because this is not a html command. Try to use the hide.softkeys command as javascript. The size is enough or fullscreen.

I'm working on it, soon I'll post the next victim. :)

Tuningszocske
19th February 2009, 09:17
Ok guys, I DID IT.
NOW IT WORKS!!! :dance:
OXINARF: your version was the basic. It didn't work because you left a wrong line in the main.html. (Something "it's downloaded....." line)
After starting we have two softeys hidden: "finish" and "cancel" but when it dissapears and pushing one if them we have the normal menu "options" and "quit". So next step to make it perfect: hide the command which causes the two softkeys at the beginning.
AND THANK YOU OXINARF! GREAT WORK! :)
(It is enough using "menu.hideSoftkeys" instead of "window.menu.hideSoftkeys")

SO, THIS IS A WORKING VERSION OF PHIT, YOU CAN QUIT WITH THE APPLICATION VIRTUAL KEY RUNNING IF YOU ADD THE APPLICATION "WIDGET UI" TO VIRTUAL KEY FROM THE RUNNING APPLICATIONS (IS YOU STARTED THE GAME.). EVERYTHING WORKS FINE, AND SHOULD BE IN THE NEXT GAMES I'ILL DO.

Just an advice: in main.html if you use
<param name="quality" value="normal" />
instead of
<param name="quality" value="high" />
the game will be faster as this is the function of the flash lite player.
(It should work with the value "low" also, it should cause faster speed and lower graphics.)
I used "normal" in Phit game.

Now I'm working on rotating landscape games...

source:

if (widget.isrotationsupported)

// Change the screen orientation

var h = window.screen.height;
var w = window.screen.width;

if (h < w)
widget.setDisplayLanscape();

sadzak
19th February 2009, 14:04
which version of firmware do you have? I have tested all widgets and they worked. They rotate for me too (except that they dont fit if orientation is wrong but that is not the point anyway).

Here is the Phit flash game with an exit icon taken from the checkers game.
When you want to exit just click the X at the bottom of the screen.

One thing I want to sort is when first clicking the flash game there seem to appear
menu options, no matter what u press it stays in the game and now the menu items
disappear.
its something to do with how the flash is embed.

edit:
i replaced the attachment , it now works faster. you'll notice that when u finish a level
the blinking bricks blink faster and so the whole next level stage faster.

edit2: little lower res, works faster.

Tuningszocske my file was good, maybe something has gone wrong when you downloaded it. And as you have seen you need main.html so you can hide soft buttons.

The problem of quality: as I said, I don't have an 5800XM, so I can't test it real, and so I can't know if it's running smoothly. But from now on I will use normal quality.

Landscape problem: Tuningszocske that code can't be done on all games, since some games should be run on portrait mode. On the remote phone I can't test landscape mode, so tell me please, if you don't use that code when you turn your phone to landscape mode the game doesn't turn? I ask this because I don't know if with accelerometer on it rotates the widgets or not.

roi990: at the moment I don't have access to the remote phone so I can't test your widget. But maybe on some games that 'X' can be a problem. And since you can exit by pressing Red button I don't think that is necessary.

Well another problem that I think you will have is that with so many flash games you will have your Applications folder full of icons. So I've been working on a solution that have all games in ONE widget, so when you start it you choose the game you want to play. If anyone of you are interested in this tell me.

I will make tutorial later, although I see that you don't really need it.

roi990
19th February 2009, 15:54
OXINARF , when u install the package it doesnt add X to every game, it just adds X for this Phit game only.
exiting by red button can disconnect your call if your playing while chatting :)
a better way is menu button and pressing the game for 2 secs and you'll have exit option.
but still i prefer the x, so there it is for those who want it.

roi990

not full screen since it will just look ugly.
its suited for landscape mode so after you start the game rotate your phone and you'll

roi990
19th February 2009, 16:37
OXINARF, about the menu for flash games,
you can just make an html page which shows all the icons and clicking on an icon will go to
the right html page which actually loads the flash game,
also in this case for example i think the X button exmaple is good to add like a back button to go back
to the main menu to choose another game, instead of hard closing everything and running it again.

OXINARF
19th February 2009, 17:38
roi990 you can't do it since every widget can only have one html file. So it involves a little of JavaScript.
For the method that will show up the games available it can be in many ways. Now I have a very simple one, but maybe later I can make a better one. In about 10 minutes I will have access to the remote phone so I will test it, and if everything seems ok I will put it here for all of you.

Well I know that has passed more than one month that I was going to write a tutorial about how to make widgets from flash games/applications, but university has taken all my time.

I will publish 3 things: one template for creating widgets from flash games and two widgets (well it's one with two versions) that enable you to play various flash games within the same widget.

But let's start by the template and tutorial for using it. So first thing to do is download the file TemplateFlashGame.zip and unzip it. Now you should have one folder called TemplateFlashGame and 4 files inside: icon.png, info.plist, main.css and main.html. Let's go by steps:

- icon.png: it's the icon you want to be displayed on applications folder. It is optional to be there, but I would recommend it. It should have this name and this extension.

- info.plist: this file has the information used when installing widget. It is mandatory.
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Just open it on Notepad to see its contents. The red squares on image are the most important things. First one is the name of your widget, typically it should be the name of your game. Second one is the identifier of your widget. Identifier should be unique, so normally company's inverted domain is used. Then you have version (in this case 1.0), it can handle updates of your widget. MainHTML tells system the name of your widget html file.

- main.css: it defines styles for widget. If you don't know what it is don't touch it.

- main.html: file that will launch flash game.
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Open it with Notepad too. And again red squares are what is important. First square isn't that important, but you should write there the name of your game. Second one is the path for your flash file. Since it will be in same folder as html file, you should just put <name_of_your_flash_file>.swf Third square is the same as the second one.
NOTE: if your game is supposed to be played on landscape mode you should swap width and height values.

So the only file that is missing on your folder is the flash game file. So put it together with the other files, then zip folder and change its extension from .zip to .wgz

Now go and install the widget on your 5800.

NOTE: As I said before when you run your widget two buttons will appear. Just press one of them and you are ready to go. To exit widget just press red key.

So tutorial is done. Let me introduce you now to my widget FlashGames

This widget lets you launch your flash games so you don't have to make and install one widget for every flash game you want to have in your phone. Version 1 only have two games and you would have to edit it every time you wanted to add a game. I'm just posting it to show my first work. So new version, 2.0, let you add a game inside the widget. All you have to do is insert the full path to your file. It will be saved, and always you open FlashGames it will be there to play. If you reinstall or remove the widget that information will get lost and you will have to insert all your games again.
On both versions you can press green key and you will be back to widget's main menu. The problem with this is that it will open dial pad, but you can just close it and you're in the widget.
You can't play more than one game at same time, so if you exit a game by pressing green key and you get back to the same or other game it will start from beginning.
Widget is also prepared for playing in both landscape and portrait mode, so just rotate your screen and see how it suits you.

Both versions of widget are obfuscated, so don't bother to try seeing source code. I'm sharing my work, but it took me some of my time to get it working, so I don't want to share its source. If you have suggestions then tell me, I will be glad to hear and improve my widget. So you can distribute my widgets but not change them in any way.

I hope that all this can help you out!:D

P.S.: As I said before I don't have Nokia 5800, so all testing as been on a remote phone, so maybe there are flaws on my widget. Please tell me so I can fix it.
P.P.S.: Because iPmart doesn't allow wgz extension, the two versions of widget are zipped. Just unzip it and you have the wgz file to install on your phone.

if anyone needs to play flash game full screen follow this.

<html>
<body>

<object width="620" height="340">
<param name="movie" value="Train.swf">
<embed src="file:///E:/FlashGames/Train.swf" width="620" height="340">
</object>

</body>
</html>

save as .html

You should lunch the .html file it will load the .swf then select full screen. The code above is self explanatory, you know basic html right?

Hi everyone :-) Really cool games, thanks a lot! Just one question though - is there any way to make the text bigger? I play in full screen (landscape), but I'm having a hard time reading the text...

listen to this man^^

i was just going to post the same code, it works great :)

also here is a game that hasn't been posted yet, together with its HTML file. put both files into the same folder on your phone, rotate into landscape mode and open curveball.html.

the screenshot is from my PC, but it looks exactly the same on the phone

Unfortunately the Flash widget mentioned earlier in this thread wouldn't launch any games for me, but this one works fine - [Only registered and activated users can see links] - FlashGames v0.7

Cheers :)

isnt there any short way to play games without that virtual keyboard?

It wouldn't launch? Maybe you don't know how to use it because many people use it and it works for them...

Very good thread so far :dance:

I've just thought if there might be a way to get the flash files from the free Popcap online games aswell...

For example the Plants vs Zombies or the Zuma Flashs:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I've already player arround a bit with the site and found the pvz swf file under:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

But cant get it to run standalone, even on my pc
Maybe someone with more flash knowledge coul look into this :good2:

I know ther're already several java variants of various popcap games like zuma, but at least for ZVP it woul be very cool^^
