hello,

i have a 720 using app 8.204, boot 5.5106, map v815.2019.

everything seems to work fine except "spoken address" and "spoken address (dialog)" is greyed out and i am unable to use this function.

now i can use voice commands from the map screen by tapping the mic icon.

can someone tell/or upload files that enable the above functions and have them not greyed out.

thankyou in advance

You just need to add one tiny file that contains JUST the number "1" to cause all of that software to work. The file you need is called "support_asr.dat". Once that file is placed in the "ASR" folder, you're done.

1. R click > new folder > name it support_asr.dat

2. Click to get inside folder support_asr.dat.

3. Now that you're inside support_asr.dat > Right click make new text file > put the number one [ 1 ] > save

4. Put the folder inside the ASR folder > done

thankyou for your input. this did not fix my problem. spoken address and spoken address dialog is still grayed out.

i have digging around the net and might have found my answer. from my understanding now, it seems the "spoken address" function is linked to what map version you are using.

found information here- [Only registered and activated users can see links]

about mid-page down please read.

i can only assume right now is that north america map v815.2019 does not support the "spoken address function".

if i am wrong please let me know, and if there is another fix to this issue please let me know also

thankyou

Hmmm......sorry bout that. So you get those fancy schmancy lil icons, BUT
you end up losing features of the software ? Sounds like a form over function issue to me.

Anyhoooo... 8.300 / 815.2019 works just fine , including voice input. Possibly consider upgrading ?

As ChillyCat points out he has ASR enabled in 2019 release, it should work for you.
These are common troubleshoots:

1) check you have cspeech_xx.dat files in your map folder

2) possible you need a different ASR file set ( although, as you run SE 8204, compatibles should have been in the basicpack )

3) CC already mentions the files support_asr.dat in the ASR folder ( blank zero byte length file )

4) your folder names are wrong / nested

5) you have incorrectly named &/or missing files

If you are in US I have seen reference to this :

Tap on the Street and house number
Tap on the country icon to choose your State
Then choose the state where your destination is
Now, the Spoken Address options should no longer be grey and you can use them.

I think that is for the 730 but if you have done a Nav upgrade maybe it applies?
BTW I don't think it is essential that the support_asr.dat file is in a folder of it's own, just in the ASR folder.

thankyou for your advise, and yes both of you are correct. i did some further exploration and found that i was missing the cspeech files.

now everything is sorta working (im getting closer). the only cspeech files i have are from my backup of my v.710 map and i am noticing now that i do have functions to the icons but feature is not working right. for example when it ask's for city i'll say a city in my state and then it makes a error sound and says "input not recognized" or it picks a city that is not even in the same realm of what i am saying.

i know what my problem is now, i just need to find updated cspeech files and everything should turn out ok.

if i am missing something please let me know, and if you know where i can find updated cspeech that would be great.

thankyou both for your help :thanks:

UPDATE: re-download of map from TT Home fixed issue

thankyou again for your help.
