My opinion,
Without the file Outsourced, it has the same free memory available.
I think that at the end of development, it will be substantially higher navcore 8204.

Neta76 10th March 2009, 19:34 Please, remote control works? (go910)
vincentn1981 10th March 2009, 19:42 free memory within the tomtom device does not say anything about how much free memory is really available. Anyway it is linux and linux tries to stuff the memory as full as possible and that's the way any operation system should do it: free memory is useless!

Old remote : no

vincentn1981
Why your TOMTOM ONE could not use LoquendoTTS with navcore 8.204 ...
grard31
vincentn1981 11th March 2009, 12:48 @grard31 good question, what do you think? I have the idea you want to relate this to the amount of free ram available indicated within the tomtom menu, however 8.410 can with a specific switch support Loquendo on a TT One, so therefore I conclude it is not a free ram problem. Anyway the free ram indicated within TomTom does not say anything.

tjilitjap 11th March 2009, 19:48 Hi Grard,
Excellent working dump!
One question, maybe you have a solution: When I put my GO910 on the window mount in the car it keeps searching for TMC signal. Very annoying.
Maybe you or somebody else know how to shut down TMC/RDSfunction?
Thanks in advance, gr Tjilitjap :good2:

step 6 is all you need to do to patch the navcore, following it up with step 9 is pointless as easyusertools is not able to patch v8 navcores from 8.002 onwards and if you've done step 6 its already patched!

Probably you have the x30 icons because you copied the switchfiles without changing model: x30 in model: x40. Go to folder: switchfiles then to folder: config. then to textfile: setconfig. Make the change there... :goodluck:

sysedit 15th March 2009, 15:11 Hi,
thanks for the how-to !
Unfortunately, my go910 keeps rebooting once I've done all the steps.
I think I followed carefuly the how-to, so is there anything tricky I may have missed which would make the device always reboot ?
Is there any log file I can check to find where something is going wrong ?
Thanks in advance for any help !

MapSettings was here, now I removed it, but now navcore never shows up (it stays at the tomtom splash screen with "find your way the easy way").
Looking at the device, ttgo.bak and ttgo.gif have been created (Easytools is now detecting everything correctly) ; they are re-created if I removed them and restart.
if I unzip switchfiles.zip/Config files on the root without touching them, I get the configuration questions, but it stops at the panel where it tells you that computer voices are not as natural as human voice.
If I just use
model:x30
runclean
changedtext:TomTom GO 940 LIVE
It does not boot. One of the config must be needed, I'll try to find which one... Shouldn't this work out of the box ?

pilotman 16th March 2009, 03:44 Upgrading from 8.204 and following the instructions - 825 maps are visible but I've lost voices. After starting, the message appears:
Warning:
There are no voices available. You will not hear any spoken instructions.
I copied the new Loquendo folder and added the voice folders from my save. When I attempt to change voices, the choices I'm given are Daniel and Emily (English UK). In my Loquendo folder are Simon and Kate; they worked fine in 8.204.
[edit]
Copying several .so files (which were not in the downloaded Loquendo folder) from my backup LoquendoTTS/lib folder solved the problem. I still do not have ASR; I copied the ASR folder from my 8.204 backup.

Anything that you can have with GO910 is in the configuration x40
In this configuration (x40 I propose in my procedure) it works perfectly
Why do you want to remove features with emu ?

stefe2009 21st March 2009, 01:50 Hi Everyone,
Another issue i would like to resolve. Actually 2 - Firstly using Nav 8.410 i can not get my MP3's to show in my music folder on my tomtom. They were working fine when running NAV 8.2......Any ideas.
Put simply they do not show on my Tomtom. Not even a song folder just Download reader, ipod control and Photo galley NO song folder. And yet when i hook the Tommy to my Pc i have a MP3 folder. LIke i said only b4:ilove: since i updated to Nav 8.4 has this presented a problem.
And secondly When i add a poi with a sound file under the same name
IE - Say um KFC poi with a OGG sound file POI - Nav 8.4 doesnt allow me to add this sound file to that POI. Yes they are written exactly the same.
Navcore doesnt allow me to get pass the screen where you enter how far away from the poi do you wanna be alerted. Doesnt matter what i do it wont allow me to proceed to the next screen.
Interesting one that ....
Any one with an idea ....i would love to hear from you

grard31
GPRS is working on my 910 with X30 emulation with one exception: when beeing connected to the car cradle the TT traffice services do not work. This is because RDS-TMC is always beeing switched on and therefore the TT traffic services are not availbale (the same as with the original Navcore 7.xxx where TT traffice services are switched off when the RDS-TMC receiver has been plugged into the car cradle - but 8.410 simply ignores if the receiver is plugged in or out, it always switches on RDS-TMC instead of TT traffic services). Other services (i.e. Wheather, QuickFix) are working perfectly. Even TT traffic is working when the 910 is out of the cradle (however this is not really helpful).
After having installed the 8.410 files on the 910 I have copied the following files from an 8.3xx working configuration:
ttgo.bak
ttgo.bif
connect2internet.db
connect2internet.db.encode
connect2internet.so
connect2internetdb.ver
and the directory "phone_database" from the root folder with the file connect2internet.tlv included in this directory.
With this I was able to connect to my TomTOm account via GPRS and use the TT services (as far as they are available for me with respect to my subscriptions).
Regards, TomTomFan

Hi grard,
how does MP3 work on your 910? I have a directory called mp3 in the root folder and copied some mp3-files into this directory. It works perfect on all Navcore 8.3xx versions, but in 8.410 there is only one icon calld "iPod" which can not be activated, the system says "no Ipod connected" (or something similar). So I can not play the mp3 files like I did before. Do you have a solution for this?
tomtomfan 21st March 2009, 19:38 GPRS is working on my 910 with X30 emulation with one exception: when beeing connected to the car cradle the TT traffice services do not work.
UPDATE: TomTom Traffic services is working also when 910 is connected to the car cradle! It can be done by switching the 910 off and on again when in the cradle without having connected the TMC receiver. By doing this the RDS-TMC function gets disabled. After that pressing the "Traffic service" icon (don't know what the correct english description is since I am using a german navcore version) in the menu for some seconds will enter the menu structure for the traffic services where it can be enabled. After that it connects via GPRS to the TomTom server and traffic information is available from there (provided there is a valid subscription).

The solution is to use FMon (or at least NOT using FMoff) in the switch files, as I have read on a german bulletin board. Tried to use FMon which resolved the problem. Nothing to do with the proceedings described earlier in this post.

tomtomfan,
You do not understand the procedure :hehe:
Navcore SE 8.410 is naturely of x40
It is therefore unnecessary to specify in the file setconfig.txt => x40
In the same way fmon, needless to say
Before you criticize : apply the procedure

alwak 23rd March 2009, 01:11 Hello Experts,
Just upgraded my TT GO 910 from navcore 7903 (patched) -> 8.410.1218 rev1.1. I am using the map "Central and Western Europe" 8.25 2157. Followed the instructions as mentioned on the first page by grard31. Thanks a lot grard31 for the excellent compilation of instructions, has really helped to get things working.
I have a problem though. I have chosen English UK and Kate as the voice, but there are no voice instructions after planning the route or on the route. To sort out I have already tried the following:
1) Erased Go910 once again and followed the instructions line by line. But still have the same problem. :(
2) I have tried to change the voice to Simon US and test. The test (button) works OK and I hear the voice. But on road, no voice instructions.
3) Took the Go910 on a route, I received the beep if I exceed speed limit, but there are no voice instructions.
4) The speaker setting are correctly configured to output sound via internal speaker.
Note that this is the first time I have used SE version on my Go910. Am I required to download new LoquendoTTS voice files?
Further I had a minor confusion about the installation instuctions, where it is mentioned to copy the loquendoTTS (in step 4) to the root. The step 5 mentions to copy the contents of SE_Navcore.8.410.1218.Basicpack to the root. The basic pack also contains loquendoTTS, but I have not copied this folder again as it would have overwritten the existing loquendoTTS folder with all the voice files already present. Did I do something wrong here?
In the "Volume Preferences", I have set the volume to 85%, but clicking the "Test" does not result in any voices\noises? Is it normal? Have not tried going back to navcore 7903 yet to ensure it still works there (it was working earlier).
Must say this is a great forum. Three cheers !!!
Thanks for help.

For you :
- In your GO910 : delete the folder LoquendoTTS
- Install the folder LoquendoTTS (6357786 bytes downloaded) to the root of your GO910
- From the saved copy of your GO910 : in the folder LoquendoTTS make a copy folders Dutch, EnglishGb, EnglishUs, French, German, Italian, PortuguesePt, Spanish then paste them inside the folder LoquendoTTS (previously installed) on your GO910. Close the folder LoquendoTTS
- Open the folder : SE_Navcore.8.410.1218.Basicpack (downloaded)
- Copy the folder LoquendoTTS and paste it in the root of your GO910 (select all)

I think you do not understand what I have written. First of all: I have not criticized anything!
I followed the procedure you have described here - and many thanks for this, it's very good. I have not changed anything in the setconfig.txt from what you have written, and did not specify x40 there (i don't know why you have mentioned this, I never said that I did it).
But: the TomTom Jukebox did not appear on my GO910!
And the solution to fix it was to specify FMon in the setconfig.txt, believe it or not. :hahaha2:
After I did this the TomTom Jukebox was available and I can now play my MP3-Files. :hehe:
So please tell me why you have a problem with the description of this solution and why do you think it is off-topic?

tomtomfan,
If you followed the procedure, I assure you that the swithchfile fmon is unnecessary (this switchfile is for use in other settings, but not this one)
As for navcore SE 8.204, read here:
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2481690&postcount=1
For 8.204 -Open file setconfig.txt, keep only changedtext:TomTom GO 940 LIVE (delete all other files), delete 940 LIVE, write for example : 910 with your name, close the file setconfig.txt

Hi grard31,
OK I trust you. I will delete evrything on my 910 and do a complete fresh installation according to your procedure, I am sure it will work as you have described.
Do you know if GPRS is working on the 910 with your procedure? I managed to get it work only with x30 emulation, not in x40 mode.
Again thank you very much for your great work! :thanks:

arpiriki 24th March 2009, 22:39 this version of navocre is really great in terms of interface :good2: but there are a few issues with it, or at least for me!
1. allthough i can select the voices and test them they don't actually play in the background when they should (turn left and so on)
2.the poi that i have seem not to be working at all!!! and on tomtom home the option to download them appears to be unavailable for "my device" as it says!-this is the same for car symbols!
If this probs could get sorted, then this would be by far the best goodlooking navcore out there.
thanx anyway for all the hard work you have put into compiling all the instructions! :urtheman::urtheman::urtheman::thanks:

arpiriki,
For the folder LoquendoTTS:
- Copy the folder LoquendoTTS and paste it in the root of your GO910 (select all)
Before open TTHome, in the file ttgo.bif, check : ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
For the POI, place the files .bmp and .ov2 in the folder of the map
Preferences 1 of 8 / Show POI on map

LoneCrusader 27th March 2009, 14:22 Well, I am impressed with the nc 8.410.1218 running on my 910...
I have tried 8.204 & 8.300 on it prior to this...
I had a problem with getting ASR to work on it, but I found that to be my fault using a wrong choice of ASR folder...
it connects to my motorola phones fine too, with 8.300 it would error...:good2:
works perfectly with the fully featured 825.2157 maps..:egdance:
all appears to working fine, I cannot fault it yet... all I have left to test is my rds-tmc connectivity when I find where I put it... :D
I would recommend this upgrade to any 910 user....

But when I use the 910 set to original I get the error of can't connect to Tt server or try again later ..

LoneCrusader 28th March 2009, 19:07 well, I have had a chance to test the 8.410 on my 910 for even longer, it mostly works great except for 3 very annoying features...
1) the turn on time is far too looonggg...
2) it always thinks it has been connected to rds-tmc when plugged into the car cradle even when the rds-tmc is not.. the sidebar stays there gloating... if I then plugin my rds-tmc, the 910 reports its found it & says now connected, if I unplug it, the 910 reports its been disconnected, the sidebar goes away only to return a few seconds later with the 910 reporting its re-connected to rds-tmc when it hasn't... obviously the method of detecting the rds-tmc has changed...
3) I did notice that when the rds-tmc is really plugged in, if I run a demo route, the screen refreshes like as in a short pause before redrawing the roads on the plain background, never noticed this before.... plus rds-tmc stays as searching... I am yet to take it for a drive...

Caution : when you switch off (or on) the GO910 and put it on the cradle, after 45 – 50 seconds it automatically restart and connect to your computer
With windows, with mac...?

well, I roadtested it today....
it does exactly as above, when the rds-tmc is plugged in, the 1 second road redraw pauses are really annoying while driving, it goes back to normal continuous road display if I simply unplug the rds-tmc from the car cradle...
the rds-tmc refuses to lock on the any signal anyway....
apart from that its just the traffic bar staying displayed, which we know about...
if I never owned a rds-tmc I could live with it, but having a rds-tmc that is not functioning is like a dripping tap, it gets more annoying as time passes

Same on mine.
Everything seems to work well except that it takes nearly 30 sec to start, even if I just turn my car off (it stops 12V power plug).
It looks like it restarts as if it would be the first time its starts: I have to accept the risk that driving with the device may be evil... while it was not the case with the original version.
can anyone else confirm the issue with rds-tmc ? as I wasn't able to remove the side bar, I'm not far from buying a tmc antenna, but if this does not work...
anyway, except that, it works pretty well, thanks again for the howto.
Just an add: if you don't copy your backuped ephem directory, you will not get quick gps fix updated anymore, so don't forget to copy it again.

wazzzzupmate,
No, in your GO, delete the folder LoquendoTTS.
Copy the new folder LoquendoTTS and past it to the root of your GO

S_Pimpernel 30th March 2009, 16:38 Ok, slightly confused. One the 710 I thought all the files were stored on the SD card. I didn't think it had an internal memory. Am I wrong?
Also is the Loquendo folder are there meant to be any files, as the one in the backup is empty. Thanks again

S_Pimpernel 30th March 2009, 18:08 Thanks. Can you confirm if the 710 has an internal memory as well as the SD card. I am use to using the 730 which has both, but my PC only shows the SD card for the 710
TTuser 30th March 2009, 18:28 710 have definitely no internal mem, only a SD
tjilitjap 30th March 2009, 18:30 A GO710 only has the SD, no internal memory to store maps.

LoneCrusader 30th March 2009, 21:02 with rev 1.2, the rds-tmc bar now works just as it should, only appears when a real rds-tmc is plugged into the 910 car-cradle... a brilliant step forward....
screen flickers same as before (only when the rds-tmc lead is plugged into cradle) maybe some system interupt caused as unit tries to access the rds-tmc...?
not that I can get my rds-tmc to lock in on any signal on my 910, yet....

 :dance2:  :dance2:  :dance2:
I just bought an antenna RDS / TMC for my GO910
It works. (reference: 4V00.013) I had the information on my route there was no problem
The only small problem: every 10 seconds there is a jump to the screen image
But I am almost sure that TTuser will solve this problem

vincentn1981 1st April 2009, 20:19 @grard31 What do you mean with a jump to the screen image? Is the navigation window lagging behind you actual position nad then jumps further again?
grard31 1st April 2009, 21:59 @grard31 What do you mean with a jump to the screen image? Is the navigation window lagging behind you actual position nad then jumps further again?
vincentn1981,
No, this is none of this.
It's like blinking of the eyelids, the image disappears and comes back instantly.
The phenomenon occurs when the antenna is connected (every 9-10 seconds). Whether looking for a station that broadcasts traffic information or is in receipt

with the 8.410....! whats different about yours then...?
I got it to work fine on my oneXL with 8.204, but....
on my 910 running 8.410 it keeps searching forever! besides having that annoying .5-1 second pause with the road detail missing every umpteen seconds... the background is as it should be, its just the road detail missing for that .5 to 1 seconds a time when the rds-tmc is plugged in....
the system turnon delay is really winding me up....

LoneCrusader,
What has changed compared to the procedure : I put the switch => reduceflicker (reduces flicker when reboot)
Read here : : http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2601417&postcount=449
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2602778&postcount=458
What has changed in my GO910 : in the folder gns now I have a file gnsdata (16440 bytes), created at a time when I received for the first time traffic information
(I've disabled my folder screen => hence no photo of the screen)
Now the procedure rev.1.2 is updated

Flack 3rd April 2009, 21:13 Hi, someone has the Tom Tom services working on Go 910?
Thanks.
Sorry for my bad English.
No bud GPRS does not work, I have tried for hours to get it to work, as soon as your unit connects to the TT server with 8.410 installed it disables traffic and all you get is cannot connect to service when you try.
All the other features work well on my 910 its just a shame the whizz guys on here can't sort out the GPRS, as this would make the 910 on a par with the new models.
I have a fully paid subscription to TT traffic but I have just ordered a RDMC / TMC cable so I can use 8410 software.
I think for £20.00 for the cable ( if it works ) is a lot cgeaper than buying a new unit with these functions, I am willing to forget about my subscription if it works.
Gizz:good2:
grard31 4th April 2009, 19:52 I suggest that you try this (I did, thinking it was a recipe for Grandma. Read on another forum)
In the car :
- Install the antenna (reference: 4V00.013)
486170
(thank : tomtom newbie)
- Connect the antenna RDS/TMC to your GO910 (the vertical bar appears)
- Connect the power supply (cigarette lighter plug => green LED on the GO910)
- Change the map (eg North America)
- Return to your map normally used
- You travel by car in an area where reception of the traffic is good info ...
grard31
LoneCrusader 5th April 2009, 19:25 today something strange happened with my 910 running its 8.410...
I turned it on, screen appeared reasonably quick... instead of the long bootup delay its had since installing this 8.410...:dance2:
I setoff, before I reached the end of the turning, the screen 1 second break in road refresh disappeared & my green circle appeared showing my rdshad connected... :excited:
I was amazed as it behaved totally different today, I was even going to revert back to 8.204 too as I knew the rds works fine on that, but, by the looks of it, theres no need to..........
seems all normal now....
all the 3 probs seems to have gone away

2 - manual : Brightness preferences / Day colour brightness from 0 to 100%
Night colour brightness from 0 to 100%
3 - Voice Control :
Brightness down, Brightness up
Day view, Daytime view, Decrease brightness
Increase brightness
Night view, Nighttime view
Turn brightness down, Turn brightness up, Turn down brightness, Turn up brightness
Use day colours, Use night colours

My light sensor does not work on my 910 if I have it set to other than the default 910 original settings, If I use the x30 emulation with the fancy icons then my light sensor works but only manual & voice. Everything works if I have 8410 set to 910 standard and it's very good including the traffic info.

x5nder 16th April 2009, 14:12 Caution : when you switch off the GO910 and put it on the cradle, after 45 – 50 seconds it automatically restart and connect to your computer
This also happens when I put the Go 910 on my car cradle and start the car. If the Go 910 was turned off, it resets and takes forever to boot. So before I start the car, I _have_ to make sure the TomTom is already turned on. Is there a fix for this???

my 910 does the turn on bit with my home cradle... cant say I've noticed it with the car cradle...
the incredibly slow system bootup was something else, it really got to me...
also, only when i plugged in my rds-tmc it had 1 second pauses in drawing roads roughly 10 secs apart although the background/data bars stayed steady.....
but then, a week or so later, one morning it cleared itself, I turned on, it booted reasonably quick & my tmc-rds started working... It took me by surprise.... I have left the system well alone since....
I haven't a clue why it had such a bootup delay to begin with..!

x5nder,
For the GO910 does not reboot :
- If the car cradle is powered before putting the GO910 on, it must be turned on
- If the car cradle is not powered, you can put the GO910 on, turned off or turned on, then you can connect the power on the cigarette lighter plug
- Car cradle normal or FM transmitter is the same thing.

ewokuk 18th April 2009, 00:26 this is great, could not have done it without the guide. all working fine on my 910 (not with the 1236 ones posted yesterday, still have 1218 but am downloading 1236 now)
:urtheman:
only 2 problems, i copied the dll file for tthome to work, the first time i ran tthome after that, it worked fine, no errors at all. but every time since then it complains i have invalid software on the tomtom
have a problem with the voices. when i go to change voice, i select the first one in thelist and clicking test gives no sound. if i select the second one, then clicking test sounds fine, so i click ok. but then when navigating the map, i get no sound from it. i go back to voice menu and the one i selected (which was second in the list) is now at the top of the list, selecting it and playing test now has no sound. selecting the second one in the list plays the test sound, but again as soon as i click ok and go to the map, no sounds again. these are the computer voices I am using (UK and US, Kate, Simon etc). kind of a big problem as i now dont get instructions which way to turn. I just re-copied the entire loquedo folder from my old backup, now the voice works but only have Kate uk and susan US to choose hmmmm

With navcore 8.410 i have the same problem, i'm tried with this navcore!
Raffetti 18th April 2009, 19:20 @grard31
Thanks for you answer, but i don't think to be the only one so "LUCKY"....
This is a problem often reported, specially on Italian forums.... maybe here in Italy we have too many roads or POI.... who knows! (i'm joking)
Really it's a very strange problem. I have the same problem on a ONE v2 too, ok for the "OLD" and "slow" 32kb ONE v2... but NOT with a more powerful 64kb 910!!
I followed line by line, step by step your clear and well done guide, starting with a full format and a clear-flash, with the files on your link...
I'm using West & Central Europe full 825.2157 and Italy 825.2159 maps (yes, i'm trying also this smaller and without ALG/IQR map without any POIs).
I'm trying also the new 8412 navcore following the step-by-step guide on the other thread you made...but always the same problem too!
I'm going to give-up and come back to the "old" 8.204 navcore (same setconfig, maps, asr, LoquendoTTS, art, ecc) that has not this problem.
Kindly another question...which bootloader do you have? Mine is 5.5106 (on 910)
Thanks for your patience

ttgo.bif was ok. i found that if i put go into cradle when it is off, then turn it on, and then load tthome then no error. however if the go is already on when i plug it in cradle, then home has the error (but still seems to allow me to make updates even after it has the error anyway). so not so much of a problem there.
i tried the steps for loquendo and have the same problem as before all voices are listed but do not work. The only way i can get ANY voices to work is just copy the whole loquendo folder from my backup and dont make any changes to it, then at least i have 2 voices listed and both work. Also when i have these 2 voices, both of them show up in tthome when i browse contents, but when i use downloaded loquendo and follow the steps, no voices show in tthome and none work on the device either. maybe some setting or file is wrong or missing (but i did start with completely empty go). anyway i have 2 voices for now.
not sure if i have the slow problem that rafetti has, not used it in the car yet.

Does anybody know what the hell does it mean?? I simply want to give some rep points to the guy who helps so much to other folks over here.
To Ghost2 : I think it says that so you cant keep giving the same person rep so you need to give others rep first. Its probably so say xxxx made another account called yyyy, they cant use yyyy to keep giving their main account xxxx rep. If you get me? Hope that helps.

Thanks again for the howto, it's nice to have IQ routes and lane assistant on the old 910.
