hi frnds .. this is not a software but a manual processor to change the windows name on boot screen to the name you desire.

well this is useful to the person who has two windows or more than it. and he just apply the theme or transformation pack of other operating system like mac os x or Linux or any other modification he did on his computer.

well any theme or transformation pack does not change the name of your operating system on the boot screen. and they just caught wile making fool to there frnds. so here is the trick to change the name of windows (Microsoft Windows XP Professional ) to there desire name.

1st of all you should have to enable the hidden files and disable the option of ( hide protected operating system files) ( which is just next to the hidden files option ). to do this just go to control panel>folder options> click on view.


2nd step: just go to "C drive" and open the hidden file "boot.ini"

just do the modification here..

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect


as you see this line on that note "boot.ini" just write any name in place of "Microsoft Windows XP Professional".

for eg :-
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Apple Mac OS X Leopard" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

thats it, you have done. now save and exit. now you have to do is just reboot your computer to see the name you written at boot screen. no one of your friend can caught you while you were fooling them. you can also write "windows vista or windows 7 or windows gurlove or etc.."

its ok. but i was just telling coz many of the users dosent know about that. if i didi some thing wrong than sorry...

plz explain me what you have done on your pc..?? i tried this trick on all xp service packs.... i dont no exactly that will this trick can be done on vista or not. if you are doing this trick on vista then i cant help you, because i never work on vista. but you can try, as it is not dangerous trick and it will not lead to you in any system problem..... na d plz if this trick works on vista than dont forget to leave your comment on it..

this one is only for changing name in boot menu in the very begining of booting.

i tried this in xp professional service pack 2 but it didnt work
