hi frnds, if you were having two or more than two windows in your computer and you want to delete one of them and you dont have any bootable xp cd.
1st) just format , the window you want to delete. ( remember your target window should not be windows of C drive. as you cant delete that window because it contains some bootable and system files. and if they deleted than none of the window will work ) and one thing more you should not be login to that window you are going to that window you want to delete.
till now many of the user know this trick. but you ever that you have deleted that window but then also the computer shows the name of that window on boot screen.
2nd) to remove that name form the boot screen just you have to click on "start" on your window and click on "run"
now type "msconfig" that will open "system configuration utility"
now just open the bar at "BOOT.INI"
and something is written of this:-
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
3rd) "timeout=30" is the time in seconds, in which computer shows you its boot screen so that you can select any windows, installed in your system.
you can change the time as you want by just typing any number in place of "30" between 3 to 99.
now , "" multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect ""
this is the name of the windows which computer shows at boot screen you at boot screen.
what you have to do is just click on" check all boot paths" of both windows by selecting one by one.
if that window exist than the computer will tell you that "operating system is ok" and if that window does not exist than it will automatic erase that boot patch and the name of that window from your boot screen.
