Just wondering, would the update lock my G1 again?
right now its already unlocked and activated.
also is there a faster way to update the firmware?
and lastly how do i check the version im using :)

1/ No, it wouldnt.
2/ OTA is the fasttest / If u're using a rooted phone, find JFUpdater on the market, it's like OTA for root users.

Are there instructions for updating / rooting the G1?
im sorry for asking too much questions, i just got my G1 yesterday and i have no idea on how to do things yet on Android.
Im using Windows Xp and Vista premium by the way.
I cant seem to find OTA update as well.

thanks for the link. I can see that they have a step by step there. Didnt know that all you need is a microSD card to root the device. :P
thanks for the help. I'll try it tomorrow, its 1am now I might end up killing my device if I do it now.

if u wanna make it easier, then just choose the one that u r using. Check it in the about section and u should know which one u using, ADP1 RC33 hay RC8

I was able to root and flash my phone.
Now it has auto rotate!

u can even move all apps to SD card to save heaps of space, not just the auto rotate thing.
