View Full Version : RDS-TMC on NC 8.410 on GO910 Problem

HI all,
This topic has been discussed in many places but I didn't find an answer in any of them.

On my GO910, NC 8.410, every time I connect to my car cradle and power from cigarrete lighter is connected, it says "connecting to RDS-TMC" and opens de traffic vertical bar with the icon looking for traffic signal.

That would be great if I had a RDS-TMC device.
But I don't have it.

How can I fix this issue? I want to take out that bar and disable this phantom RDS-TMN connection.

Try if this works:
delete the mctx.dat and mctx.txt file and remove the /gns folder, maybe that helps.
Otherwise I do not know as well.
Remember that TMC does not work than anymore as well, of course.
Let us know if that helps.

gsmjbond,

Switch off and then turn on your GO910, when it is on the window mount...

Humm, strange, because without this TMC should not work anymore. So the detection of the RDS/TMC receiver is located somewhere else... Probably the ttsystem then.

I tried everything to remove this bar. It is very annoying AND the constant searching uses about 2 MBRam workmemory, a total waste. I even dissembled the cradle to prevent the RDSswitch from connecting but no succes unless taking the risk of breaking it probably resulting in it not charging anymore...

The RDSTMC software is definitely located in the ttsystem because I almost deleted everything else in the navcore in an attempt to stop it.
I hope TTUSER will come with a solution, maybe a switchfile could do the trick.
Nice way from TomTom to force us into buying a TMC receiver...

Strange: the former Navcore 8.3xx versions are able to detect if a TMC receiver has been plugged in or not, the 8.410 simply ignores this and enables RDS-TMC even if there is no receiver in place. And because of this it is not possible to use the (by far more accurate and up-to-date) TOmTom traffic services subscription.

Would be great if RDS-TMC could be disabled by using a switchfile. I hope ttuser is able to give it a try.

By the way: it would be even better for TomTom if TMC would not work anymore to make us buy the subscription for traffic services which would become a constant revenue stream for them :gum:

Thanks all for your sugestions and replies.

Let's wait and see if TTUSER has "mercy" and resolves this issue.

Look at this (Post #52):

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?p=2586571#post2586571

It's working under some special conditions (X30 emulation and special handling when connectet to the car cradle).

This solution works BUT you will never be able to connect your GO910 to your computer with your TT powered on.

You can only connect to your PC if the TT is powered off and waiiiiiit for it to wakeup.... it is just like plugging a hole by digging another hole. So someone have to choose between the lesser evil.

I hope this helps and thanks for the effort.

Harry_C,

For me this is perfect :
- Delete the files ttgo.bak, ttgo.bif, ttgo.ori
- Open the folder : SE_Navcore.8.410.1218.Basicpack (downloaded)
Unzip the folder switchfiles.zip, open the folder Config, copy the file version.txt and paste it in the root of your GO910
- Disconnect the GO910, let it reboot (select in Windows “Safe disconnect”, disconnect GO910 from the computer (take it from a cradle)) Wait the message : Create ttgo.bak (about 1 minute)
- Switch off and then turn on the GO910 to properly save the configuration

Hi,

I don't understand what this have to do with my post.

To make it simple, if you use as per post #9 "Put an empty file on the root directory of the SDcard, name it "TTPnPD" -> tmc is off" you will indeed not have the RDS-TMC bar when you connect your GO910 in your car but at the same time with this solution you will not be able to connect your GO910 to your PC using the home cradle if the GO910 is powered on.

Don't panic and be patient... turn your GO910 off then connect it to your PC and wait for it to turn itself on automatically.

By the way I have a GO910 and I never needed to use ttgo.bak (I only have ttgo.bif in the root and no version.txt)

I created a textfile called: TTPnPD but TMC bar is still there. I also tried Grard's procedure but also no results... Anybody knows what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance Tjilitjap

are you sure that your file is named TTPnPD and not TTPnPD.txt just checking

should be interesting to see if any proper fix comes about rather than a half hearted workaround...

My 910 does the same, brings up the bar when connected to car cradle...
if I plug my RDS-TMC in, then unplug it, the 910 reports the RDS-TMC has been disconnected, bar goes, but then shortly after, the 910 thinks its been re-connected when it hasn't, back comes the bar...

if this is the way later navcores will act in future, then a permanent solution needs to be found

I guess one answer would be to find the RDS-TMC detect line in the car cradle and switch it in & out via a miniture switch as/when required

it may even be something like a hold-high resistor or simular in the mount giving a false signal on this later navcore

I opened up the car cradle in an effort to stop the TMC.
But no success. When opened the risk of breaking the batterycharging-connection is too high.... Gr Tjilitjap

shouldn't be too hard...

If I feel its worth the effort, I will have a look when I find my star driver...

well, I roadtested it today....

when the rds-tmc is plugged in, it causes the map the pause every now & then, the 1 second road redraw pauses are really annoying while driving, it goes back to normal continuous road display if I simply unplug the rds-tmc from the car cradle...

the rds-tmc refuses to lock on the any signal anyway....

apart from that its just the traffic bar staying displayed, which we know about...

if I never owned a rds-tmc I could live with it, but having a rds-tmc that is not functioning is like a dripping tap, it gets more annoying as time passes

With navcore 8.310 exactly same problem like 8.410 on my GO910.

Keeps searching for tmc signal with tmc bar in the screen without tmc connected to cradle....

So till we find a proper solution, probably every new navcore from now on will have this tmc software....

its simple why,

Support for Active Dock with RDS-TMC

it think in the dock is a antenna, all new navcores have now this behavior, all wish now the previous Message "update soft for tmc" from older versions back:hehe: or wait for a other new rev

with the new rev 1.2, the rds-tmc bar now works just as it should, only appears when a real rds-tmc is plugged into the 910 car-cradle... a brilliant step forward....

screen flickers same as before (only when the rds-tmc lead is plugged into cradle) maybe its some system interupt caused as unit tries to access the rds-tmc...?

not that I can get my rds-tmc to lock in on any signal on my 910, yet....

TTUser,
Thanks for this one!

LoneCrusader,
PLease let me know if you can make work your RDS-TMC.
Next week I'll go to Spain and RDS-TMC works there... I bought one receiver in the UK for 13£ (Gatwick airport) and would like to test it.
